inoculations and visas

Reading through the guest booklet for our upcoming Celebrity Equinox cruise to Italy & Greek Isles and it mentions maybe needing a visa for Turkey. Also possible vaccination for yellow fever? Does anyone have any info on this. It is not clear that both are mandatory. Don't want any problems when trying to board. Are there any other vaccinations required before traveling to any of these countries: Spain, France, Italy, Greece, or Turkey.

According to a Republic of Turkey website https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/info/, a visa is not required for a cruise stay that is less than 72 hours.

This is from that website-

Do I need an e-Visa if I am on a cruise ship?

Go

According to the Law on Foreigners and International Protection which entered into force on 11th April 2014, those foreigners who arrive at sea ports and intend to visit the seaport city or nearby provinces for touristic purpose are exempt from visa provided that their stay does not exceed seventy two (72) hours.

As for the other countries- I know Spain and Italy have no special requirements. Fairly sure Greece does not, as well.

NEEEED? is the important question

NEEEED? No

Recommend? Yes

Basic flu shots

Hep A and Hep B

Yellow fever

Google a travel clinic near you. Not cheap by any means, but very helpful

No mandatory vaccinations for these ports. For instance, a Yellow Fever certificate isn't needed for these destinations - or indeed for most destinations in the world unless you've been to a high-risk area / country in the previous ten days. I'll respectfully disagree with Klfrodo on this one - there's no risk in Europe & a YF jab would be a painful waste of money.

But its always worth getting general medical advice from your doctor. For instance, are your other jabs (Hep A / B, etc) up-to-date? Only your doctor knows your medical history, so only your doctor can advise.

No Turkish visa required for Turkish ports-of-call, as long as you don't overnite ashore. This is a dispensation for cruise & ferry passengers.

But most nationalities incl US, Canuk, UK, Auz, NZ etc will need one if the cruise starts or finishes in Turkey, eg if you fly in or out.

If you're cruise starts or ends in Turkey, you need a visa. For example, if you're disembarking your cruise in Istanbul and flying home, you'll need a visa. But if Turkey is just a stop on your cruise, you don't need a visa.

Our Med cruise to Italy, Greece and Turkey began and ended in Civitevecchia (Rome). We weren't required to have a Visa for any of these countries. We also didn't have to have any of the inoculations you listed. We had already had the flu shot, but that was it. None of the others. We love all of the places we visited, but TURKEY turned out to be a standout. We loved, loved, loved Turkey.
