Glen99 Posted July 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2014 Very excited 1st time cruisers on regal next week. Just wondering how well air conditioned ship is? Obviously med in august means hot days but is it cool aboard ship in the evenings?
GloriaF Posted July 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2014 First, WELCOME to Princess! The Med on the Regal should be a wonderful cruise. Second, I often find the ship's public spaces (dining rooms, theatre, atrium) cooler than is comfortable for me. I would advise bringing a lightweight wrap for 'just in case' moments. We were in the Med and then the Greek Isles last May. You will love the cruise!!
Pam in CA Posted July 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2014 I agree: the public spaces are very air-conditioned until they are filling or filled. I also bring a light sweater or wrap with me in the evenings. You'll enjoy the blast of cool air as you re-enter the ship after a long, hot day ashore. :) There's at least one thermostat in every cabin so you change it up or down as you wish. (Mini-suites and full suites have two thermostats.)
Colo Cruiser Posted July 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 27, 2014 I agree, the system works well.
Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted July 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2014 We were blissfully refreshed every time we returned to the Regal last month! The A/C was fully powered, rest assured. :-) Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
HUNKY Posted July 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Will we need to keep a room keycard in the holder to keep the room AC on? Or can the room steward override any automatic shut off? When thermostats were mechanical I would often bring a small screwdriver or Allen key so that the limiter could be overridden. Now I just tend to learn the button pushing "sequence" to defeat any eco setting. We like our cabin to be as cold as possible.

The keycard only affects the lights, the AC will remain on whatever level you set it at (unless the cabin steward changes it)

Note that the thermostat just shows "higher" and "lower" without giving a temperature. Since you like it cold, just keep pressing the lower until it is at the bottom. Colo Cruiser Posted July 28, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Will we need to keep a room keycard in the holder to keep the room AC on? Or can the room steward override any automatic shut off? As stated it has nothing to do with the AC.
Pam in CA Posted July 28, 2014 #10 Share Posted July 28, 2014 As stated it has nothing to do with the AC.Nor does it have anything to do with the power outlets so you can leave your phone or camera charging after leaving the cabin.

Jilliebean28 Posted July 29, 2014 #12 Share Posted July 29, 2014 We were on the Regal July 1-July 12 Grand Med cruise and found the a/c worked very well. I actually was very comfortable in all public spaces and never needed even a light sweater. You will love the Regal - we had the best time!
