Canceling the cruise today. After getting the email last night stating that we might be delayed getting into Bermuda and that the ship will stay in the Chesapeake Bay for the storm to pass.. didnt seem like a vacation to me. First no sun to at least work the tan, no casino because the ship will not be in international waters and the few days we are in Bermuda will be rainy and storms. I am usually ride or die and ready for an adventure. But there are not other islands to even go to. I have been on the magical mystery cruises before and they are great. But I dont think I am into the rocky sea and bad weather for my vacation. And, I live on Chesapeake bay. I hate canceling but I am with 3 others and they dont want to go. I was hoping Carnival would see that this trip really isnt going to be the great experience we have when sailing with them.

Anybody else cancel?

Drink Bully; are you saying that you weren't given any cruise update from Carnival until last night, Sat Sep 16th?

We cancelled, also for all of the same reasons that you did! If they truly stay in the bay until the storm 'passes' as the email stated, they may be sitting there until late Tuesday! (According to the tracking from the National Hurricane Service). If they end up going to Bermuda, it will be for 1 day only. I will never book in hurricane season again!

We had the same scenario in October 2015, with a Bermuda cruise. Ended up going eastern caribbean instead, and while we had a great cruise, not the cruise we planned for. We tried cruising 2 years during the Sept.-Oct. hurricane season with both cruises diverted to other itineraries. We made the decision to never cruise in hurricane season and not to do Bermuda during that time either. Would love to try Bermuda again just different time of the year. I don't blame you for canceling, most say its a 3-day destination vacation to enjoy everything.

I just don't understand the lack of communication. Someone on your cruise posted on another thread Friday night, that there had been no communication from Carnival and she was having to fly to Baltimore on Saturday. Now we hear that they didn't send out an email until Saturday night. On our cruise, Sep 3d, we weren't told anything until after muster!

We are booked on the October 15 cruise to Bermuda Did they give you a refund for this cruise or just the opportunity to book another cruise. We went to Bermuda a number of years ago on NCL and had a little rough seas but this trip is with a friend that gets sea sick very easy. If we are not going to Bermuda we want to cancel we're about a 5 hour drive from Baltimore and I was wondering when they informed you of the change? First post I've just been a looker!!

Well your cruise is a ways away and cancellations/changes don't have weeks away. Carnival or John Heald will post on their Facebook-- would suggest following them.

Received email at 7.33pm last night. We live on the Bay so , this wasnt worth paying for when I can sit on my deck at home with no risk of bad weather for several days.

Dear Carnival Pride Guest,

We look forward to welcoming you onboard Carnival Pride tomorrow and want to take this opportunity to share an update on the weather.

We have been closely monitoring the track of Hurricane Jose in the Atlantic. Based on the most updated forecast, there is a possibility our arrival time into Bermuda may be impacted. It is likely we will need to keep the ship in the Chesapeake area upon our departure from the Port of Baltimore to allow the storm time to pass. The captain will provide you with regular updates on board.

Please be assured the well-being of our guests and crew is our top priority. The ship will operate at a safe distance from the storm at all times.

As always, our officers, staff, and crew are committed to providing you with a great cruise vacation.

Sincerely,

Jodieroadie, I have no problem booking during hurricane season, but leaving from the southern ports you have more options of ports. I have been on some of the best magical mystery cruises!! Wake up in a different port everyday depending on the weather..LOL So, no issue there, but this was one port only, no other choices and I think Carnival should have canceled. We were lucky, we live here so no air fare to deal with nothing..but less than 24 hours before sailing is when they send to the cruisers was not right

Cottagelady,

We always buy insurance for the "just in case" scenario . But , we had a special casino rate and only paid taxes and port charges, so they were refunded back to original payment. We canceled at 4pm this afternoon , an hour before sailing. We have never canceled before but from what I understand, with insurance, you can file a claim for reimbursement. You can try to get 100% for medical or a credit percentage towards your next cruise

I guess I just don't understand the "lack of communication", "inconsistent communication" and apparent "lack of concern for passengers", that has been displayed by Carnival. Our Sep 3d cruise got NO notification until after muster; the next week's passengers got 4 days notice and your cruise got 24 hours. As I said on another thread, some passengers on our cruise were told that they could disembark the ship on Tuesday and receive a full refund and others, like myself and my DW, were told that Carnival would make a decision "by Friday", 1 day before the end of the cruise.

I cancelled at 2:00 yesterday...not sure how the whole insurance thing works. The Carnival rep gave me a number to call today~If they refuse a refund (which they probably will since we didn't have some kind of 'catastrophe' on our way to the ship, etc), they will toss it back to Carnival, and Carnival will give us "up to 75%" in the form of a cruise credit. If you have any more info that would be helpful, please share! :)

It must have also left late too. I work at a wedding venue right off the Bay Bridge.....it did't pass under the bridge until about 8:00 last night. Stinks that your trip was re-routed......tho I do love the bay......but a warm island sounds much nicer. Have a good trip. :)

This is the number you need to call to get the claim started. DO NOT FOLLOW the recorded info while on hold. With Carnival you have to call to initiate the claim. I am including the check list, I tried to upload the forms but they are too large. But you can see what they are asking for so you can have everything you will need.

Good luck and I hope you get your money back

I'm curious now where this Pride cruise is going. Marine Traffic has the Pride off the coast of North Carolina, which is about where it typically is on Monday when sailing down to the Bahama's for it's "normal" itineraries. But this week Pride was supposed to go to Bermuda? Wonder if they scraped Bermuda, and are heading south. Marine traffic says it's next stop is Charleston....

No option given, and there are really no options for this cruise at all

I know there is no where else to go,when you leave from Baltimore,I really think our cruise next week will be cancelled,we are suppose to go to the Bahamas out of baltimore,I don't even think they will be able to go up to Canada Jose is suppose to be lingering around for while out there.
