Amalfi Coast by water

We were lucky enough to see the beautiful Amalfi Coast and Capri on a land tour last year. Next year we will be on a cruise that stops in Naples. We are hoping to see the Amalfi coast or Capri from the water - catamaran or motor boat tour. Are there tours available for this and has anyone tried it?

Most boat tours start from Amalfi or Positano. Such as http://www.amalfiboatexcursion.com/ or http://www.giannisboat.com/

Some start from Sorrento, like http://www.sorrentoexperience.com/en/tours or http://www.capitanoago.com/private-boat-tours

Your port is Naples, so you might want to contact the Sorrento providers to see if they would pick you up there, or else do a little more research in the internet. Or you could take the hydrofoil to Sorrento and pick up the tour there.

Our cruise offered a ship-sponsored tour that took us by bus to Salerno, then by boat to and from Amalfi. We then did a tour to Pompeii.

Joe Banana limos has these tours as well. Highly recommended with cruisers. I love their amalfi coast tour from Naples. Definitely a favorite!!

Joa Banana tours picks you up at Naples and drives you to Sorrento which takes an hour. It would be better and less traffic to take the hydrofoil to Sorrento and take the boat tour from there.

We originally did this tour because we could not decide between the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. This tour let us do both and we were very happy with it. The following year we were back in Naples and did the Amalfi drive tour. It was also wonderful.

Are there ferries that go to/from Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi?

On one website, The schedule looks as if they go to Salerno and not Sorrento.

Yes, there are ferries from Sorrento but they are very limited. Here is the current schedule: http://www.alicost.it/?page_id=202&lang=en

So you can depart Sorrento by ferry at 10:30 AM and arrive in Positano at 11:05 or Amalfi at 11:30.

You have other options between Positano and Amalfi but only Alicost to/from Sorrento.

This is one of the ferries that does service for Capri and or Sorrento and Naples.
