carnival03 Posted March 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2015 Tell me everything you know about this place! Visiting in June and wondering how to spend our day in Grand Turk, thanks in advance!:D
EatonDoolittle Posted March 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2015 If you read down this board just a few posts - and further - you will see that people have been talking about the pros, cons, and details of this place for years. Check it out.
mrsfuzzmo Posted March 16, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2015 Didn't like it. Found it expensive to 'rent' chairs, couldn't get food (we waited for 3 hrs for jerk chicken as we watched others walk up and buy what we thought was being cooked for us) and felt "unwanted" there no matter how many times we tried to strike up a conversation with the bar staff. Walked down the beach (closer to the ship) and found a lovely place with excellent cracked conch, cold beer, lively music and super friendly bar staff. Wished we would have not wasted the time trying to "fit in" at Jacks. We, too will be going back to GT next year and will not be making the walk. Maybe this time we will head to town for a bit, try the local bars/restaurants there that we've heard of, don't know yet.
Rare crewsweeper Posted March 16, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2015 Like pp have said, plenty of pros and cons on Jack's on these boards. At one time long along (and so far away) Jack's was THE primary alternative to one of Jimmy Buffet's retirement fund facilities. So frequent cruisers have tended to return, bringing their free rum shot coupons and new ship-board friends with them. And being creatures of habit that we all are, they simply keep wandering back. If you've never been, grab a coupon off the web, and take a short walk down the beach and pay them a visit, give Topher a head pat. Whether you linger on after your shot is then up to you. Easy to take note of other places along the way and just turn around and head back to one.
prophet0621 Posted March 18, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 18, 2015 Always a discussion on likes/dislikes of Jack's Shack or comparisons to the Village Bar. In fact, a discussion about this is 8 posts (when I clicked on it) below this one.

We're not fans of Jack's Shack either. It's such an unfriendly place except for the dog.
Rare nydney1 Posted March 19, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 19, 2015 We have had good time at Jacks, but I can see why some folks may not like it. We fit in and enjoy our time there. GT is a great beach day, just find someplace that you feel comfortable.
jimbri Posted March 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 20, 2015 We enjoyed it. We stopped at Margaritaville first and stayed about an hour. We then walked down the beach to Jack's, had our free shot, swam, sat on the beach and played with the dog. Good time.
Bob NC Posted March 21, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 21, 2015 We liked Jack's. We had some beer and some great jerk chicken. The beer was cold and the chicken was hot. The service was fast and friendly. We, though, weren't hinging our enjoyment of the place on whether or not we made lifelong bartender friends in the hour and a half we were there.
