What keeps you sailing with Carnival ?

As I write this we're going on the Valor in November, and it will be my 3rdcruise with Carnival, we've had a blast the other times, foods good, service is good. Than you look at Royal and ships like the Oasis, FOS and Quantem. I wish Carnival had intenerays like Pacific Coastal, Europe. I don't think we sail Carnival for the loyalty program, we don't have the WOW factor like Royal, can't compare it to Princess or Celebrity. I'm just wondering what all of you cruise Carnival for? Sometimes you feel like your missing something on other cruise lines, let me know what you think? I just wonder if anyone from Carnival reads these.

I had an entire thread on whether to do the Valor with friends or Oasis/Allure without friends. Honestly, the only reason I chose Carnival was because my friends were going and the cruise had a lot of ports we haven't seen. Otherwise I'd choose RC in a heartbeat. Matter of fact we told our friends they have to do Oasis with us next year.

We have completed 8 Carnival cruises in the last 6 years and we have loved each one. We have always had great service and a fun time, there is something fun to do at all times. We cruise for the time to relax more so than ports, we have started to do B2B cruises to get the most time to relax and enjoy ourselves. Carnival overall has the best prices and best overall options to relax and have a good time. We are in our 50's, so we aren't looking for booze cruises, just a good time without too many hassles. My Wife is already Platinum and I will be next year, so we do enjoy the perks that come with that.

NOSaints1,

Satisfaction and familiarity; we know what to expect and always have a relaxing vacation. We have sailed other lines and choose based on what we know we'll like.

Granted the newer RCCL ships do have a 'wow' factor, but they don't seem like cruising to me. I do enjoying seeing them, but expect they're not much like being at sea; they may be fine and we'll sail them some day I'm sure, but not in the near term. 6K fellow passengers and a central park....no thanks. :o If they follow Carnival's lead and start offering up free trips I'm not sure I'd take them up on that option either.....Not enough time to spend doing something I'm not sure I'll enjoy. This coming Monday when it's ZERO degrees and snow piled high I'll take any cruise line up on any free offer for next weekend.

Our next line will be Princess or HAL. Not sure which, but I like them both.

Carnival keeps me coming back because its cheaper, and more efficient for vacation time when scheduling. Plus I just got platinum last year so that's going to keep me coming back as well so I can get on faster.

Last 20 or so have been with Carnival and while we have alway had a great time entertainment has gotten pitiful.

Doing our first princess next month and looking at going back to RCCL after that.

We may be done with Carnival until they recognize and improve their entertainment.

I don't need all the wow factor of the newer RCCL ships. I'm not going to zip line, ice skate, surf, rock climb, etc. I know what I'm going to get with a Carnival cruise and I'm good with that. I think RCCL is good for some people, but I'm not willing to pay more for features that I won't use.

carnivals prices are always among the least expensive, however I find the experience on Carnival just as good as and NCL or Royale. with that said, the itineraries on other lines and some of the sweet perks on Norwegian are enough in instances to pull ups from Carnival Cruise Lines is well.

I feel the same way about the big RCI ships. Not really a cruise so much as a crowded, tropical Las Vegas. But they even advertise them as that sometimes, and it appeals to some folks. Not me. I like being on the ocean, and KNOWING that you are on the ocean--being able to see it is a big plus for me. I want a SHIP feel.

Cheap prices had been keeping me coming back. Now, I'm only booking another one because I have to use a cruise certificate. It may be my last with Carnival though. The entertainment was putrid on our last Carnival cruise. Just got off an NCL cruise and the entertainment was awesome and they have a better buffet and still do the chocolate buffet, etc......for the same price as Carnival.

1. Baltimore

2. I haven't had to decided if I want to repeat a trip yet. (Still need to do the Grand Turk sailing.)

3. With that said, I sail based on itinerary (hence the Baltimore comment), so I chose HAL when doing Alaska.

4. Baltimore - I have also done Grandeur of the Seas

5. I don't cruise for the entertainment, Baltimore is too close to NY, if I want a Broadway show, I'll go to Broadway.

If I don't care for the "American Feast" menu, if it comes to the Pride, then I may leave. I like what I like on Carnival & have not liked what I saw on that menu.

There are a couple small things that keep me on Carnival for the time being.

1. Prices are generally cheaper. We are a family of five and the extra cost on other lines adds up quick.

2. With Carnival, I can book a cabin for 5. I can even book it online.

We have enjoyed 5 other cruise lines, but keep coming back to Carnival because it is casual and comfortable.

But the same as golfadj, if they don't fix the entertainment, we'll be gone!

We always have a great time sailing Carnival. We don't generally go for the shows / entertainment but do enjoy a good band in the casino or one of the bars. We have had fun and decent luck in the casino.

We are getting ready for #8 with Carnival and will continue to sail with them. I think it is just that we are comfortable with Carnival and when we step on the ship, it is like coming home or maybe like coming to the vacation home... :)

I have traveled with carnival all but one of my cruises. Each cruise with them has gone smoothly and we've never been disappointed with the service or facilities. Or last cruise to the Bahamas started as something nightmares are made of. Traveling with our 11 month old, the airline didn't get our bags on our plane during a connection. They didn't get out bags on the next two flights either. We had to get on the boat with an infant with no luggage. Though we hadn't purchase the two insurance, carnival was FANTASTIC to us. They percussed us with phone services to contact the airline to strange for our bags to be flown to the Bahamas, they gave us free t shirts, three free dry cleaning tickets, 50% off our purchase at the gift shop to buy clothes to sleep in and wear the next day, camp carnival provided us with diapers. Pretty much made the vacation 110% better. For that reason alone, we have become completely faithful to carnival, but every experience on board has been wonderful. Just like another poster mentioned - I'm not there for the entertainment, I'm there for the food and the itinerary. I live in NY, I can see a show at home.
