Rare Cruise Raider Posted June 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 27, 2016 I just booked a cruise under the Sip and Sail promotion and have a couple of questions. Since we have a beverage package included under our promotion -- we will not need our mini-bar set ups (one for being elite and one for booking a suite). Will we be able to turn in our mini-bar set ups for 4 coffee cards to use on future cruises. I am aware we won't be able to get unlimited brewed coffees with these cards but if we are able to trade these, it is my understanding we can still use the punches on other Princess cruises. Is this a safe assumption? It is also my understanding that we get a free specialty dinner on the night of embarkation for booking a suite. The Sip and Sail promotion also gives us a free specialty dinner for two. Are we supposed to get 2 dinners for two ... one through the promotion and one from booking a suite? If so, are we able to change the embarkation dinner to another night? If we do get two dinners, we would like to do them on the formal nights. Is this possible to reschedule that suite perk? If so, are we able to change the embarkation dinner to another night? If we do get two dinners, we would like to do them on the formal nights. Is this possible to reschedule that suite perk? The suite specialty dinner can only be used on embarkation day. Main reason they give that perk (their supposed replacement for taking away free Internet for suites) is that the first evening would otherwise have very few people going to the specialty restaurants. The Sip and Sail specialty dinner can be used on any evening you choose. Princess may assign a day, time and restaurant, but you can call to get that changed subject to availability on the night you want. If many people on the sailing have that free dinner, it may be tough to get the night that you want, so set that up as soon as you can after boarding. JF - retired RRT Posted June 27, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 27, 2016 I am aware we won't be able to get unlimited brewed coffees with these cards but if we are able to trade these, it is my understanding we can still use the punches on other Princess cruises. When you trade in your minibars for coffee cards, IF the name of the ship and sail date aren't written on the back (in other words, they are blank) you can use them for unlimited brewed on whatever cruise you happen to use it on. We got 2 blank cards the first time we switched our minibar. Sometimes it happens. Probably depends on how busy they are. Sometimes the barista won't notice that the back isn't filled out and leaves it blank. That pretty much means you can keep getting free brewed until someone notices or you use up all the punches.:D
OCruisers Posted June 27, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 27, 2016 The AIDP is not good for cabin room service so you may enjoy having the Elite Bar set-up in your cabin. We always buy the "Liquor Sticker" (AIDP) anyway so Sip and Sail promotion is a good thing for us. :D
memoak Posted June 27, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 27, 2016 I always get the AIBP (either with the sip and sail or buying it outright) and keep the mini bar setup. Always nice to grab a fast vodka tonic while dressing for dinner
Rare Cruise Raider Posted June 27, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted June 27, 2016 We are in one of the window suites so will be able to just sneak out to the casino bar and grab a drink. We don't drink that much coffee but do love a cup in the morning. I am so excited about the location of the rooms. We usually sail on the Emerald deck and love being that close to everything. I do enjoy a glass of wine while getting ready ... so may turn one in for a glass of wine but since the casino is so close, we may just turn them all into coffee cards. Not sure yet... but thanks to everyone for their advice. It is most appreciated.
