Suggestions for Port Canaveral Pre Cruise stay?

Where do you suggest staying for one night prior to leaving Port Canaveral? Want clean accommodations with pool. Just husband and I arriving around noon the day prior to departure. Looking into renting a car from MCO to the port area in order to be able to stop at store for last minute items including wine. We would need to return car prior to departure the next morning.

Also, would like restaurant suggestions for dinner the night before leaving on Freedom of the Seas in April.

After reading many high recommendations on this board, we're staying at Residence Inn. It's very close to the port and several of the always talked about restaurants. The other 2 hotels, Country Inn & Suites and Radisson, also get good reviews.

We're renting from Avis at MCO, then returning Sunday morning at the Cape Canaveral location just down the street from Residence Inn.

No need to be next to port with a car. Stay in Cocoa Beach, just 5 or 10 minutes further. Hilton has a nice pool and Tiki bar. Great beach also. Have dinner or drinks at the Cove and watch ships leave on Saturday. Can't do that in Orlando

We recently stayed at Residence Inn. It was very nice and I would not hesitate to stay there again. They have a complimentary breakfast. The front desk gave us recommendations for dinner. We ended up at Fishlips...food was good.

Country Inn and Suites is a beautiful hotel located in Cape Canaveral just south of Port Canaveral. A clean hotel with a nice staff and a beautiful pool. Fishlips and Grills are located on Glen Cheek Drive and is a short drive from the hotel. They have excellent seafood and a great view of Port Canaveral from their location.

we have stayed numerous times. Very good hospitality, nice pool area and at times will be a guitarist playing music by Tiki-Bar. Great Park'N Cruise deal and shuttles have never let us down in the 4-5 times we have stayed. Good People.

We like the Sheraton 4 Points Cocoa Beach. Restaurant there has good food and great happy hour. It's right next door to the Ron Jon, kids love their tshirts. You can walk to the beach and that is a big plus for us. Oh, and Starbucks is there too. Walgreens and McD's across the street. We just like the area and beach access better than the port area.
