Interior Plaza rooms by art gallery

We just were in one of these rooms for the first time at the beginning of August. We loved it! No noise at all. We have decided that anytime we book an inside cabin...it will be in these rooms. The location is perfect! It is so close to everything. We have two cruises booked at the moment....one in a BA balcony and one in an inside. We "downgraded" from the cat inside we had booked to change to these "art gallery" location rooms. You will be very happy!

We had rooms in this area on the Golden in August also. We were in P255 and our teens were in P305. I found this to be a rather quiet area. Since there are so few cabins and most people don't have any good reason to be passing through, there is very little foot traffic. Since our cabin was more forward, we did hear a little noise from the Princess Theater a couple of times, notably during the "illusionist" show, since he used rather pounding, dramatic music. It wasn't enough to really bother us or keep us from sleeping. I would choose rooms in this area again, since I found them to be so convenient to the International Cafe, Princess Theater, dining room, etc.

We've had lots of inside rooms on Plaza deck. We really like the location- it's close to so many things and just a deck or two up is the casino.;) Not having to share a laundry room with a complete deck of cabins is also a plus.

Some of the entertainers were also on our deck so we got to meet them personally.

Plaza deck, as close to the art gallery as we can get, is our favorite location for all the ships we've been on. It's so close to everything. If the ship has an IC, and sadly the Sapphire doesn't, I can get my morning coffee and a sweet bite or two in my sleep :). If you tend to get sea sick, Plaza deck mid-ship is the place to be. We prefer the outside cabins but, will take an inside if need be.

I just got off of the CB (which does have an IC), and selected the Plaza deck and my cabin (P263) with a 'no upgrade' notation. I love the Plaza deck for all of the reasons stated, quiet, low and stable, near everything, and morning coffee! This was my first inside cabin and since I was a solo, it was the most reasonable when you have to pay a single supplement. Last year I was on Plaza but had an oceanview. I do prefer the Oceanview but there was absolutely nothing wrong with an inside on Plaza, and I highly recommend it. Spend the money you save on a gift for yourself or a fabulous excursion.

I was walking from my cabin to the IC one morning and noticed how very quiet it was, as if the ship were desserted! When I rounded the last turn in the art gallery I finally heard signs of life.

We had Sapphire P328 in 2005.

The cabin was VERY quiet. Never heard anything from any direction including the "blank" space next door, below, or the Casino above (well ONCE we heard vacuuming).

The deck passageways are VERY quiet, as most passengers have no reason to walk through there. It feels like a much smaller ship, when you are on that deck. Don't worry about noise from the Atrium, there is none.

I would book that cabin again anytime. Can't speak for ships other than Sapphire, but most likely similar.

I should note that one CCer had Sapphire P331, and had to move due to some duct motor noise or something similar. That is the only exception to plaza cabins I have heard of.

It's also one of our favorite decks because of convenience. I don't understand how Princess has designated categories, because we'd much rather have an inside cabin on the Plaza Deck than on one of the higher decks. But Princess classes them as less desirable.

I just got back from the Sapphire on the 29th. We stayed in P239 and, like others, found this to be a very convenient location. You could walk right out and be at the elelvators, or just a little further would take you right to the lower level of the Atrium. However, I can't say it was quiet. We didn't hear anyone in the adjacent cabins. We didn't hear people in the hallway or above or below us. We did hear toilets flush. Lots of toilets. At least, I think it was toilets, it seemed like there was a a lot of them so maybe it was something else. There was another noise, like a large metal cart rolling back and forth across a metal floor. I started wondering if we were above the ship's laundry area. No way to tell. It stopped later in the evenings so it never kept us awake, but we heard it everyday.

We are looking at interior rooms by the art gallery on the Sapphire. Has anyone stayed in these rooms? What is the noise level like around these rooms?

Thanks!

We found it to be one of the best locations we have ever stayed in. you are there when you return from the shore without waiting on the elevators. There is very little traffic down there and so close to the dining room. Also, very little motion compaired to the upper decks.

You will love it!

It real bad this is the worst deck on the ship.... If I keep this up I will have my choose of cabins.:p

You're right, Bob. Horrible deck. All of that casino noise, the elevators are so near, laundry, etc. Horrible deck. Now everyone go away and let me be miserable alone! :p

(Did that help, Bob?)

I would love to be on the plaza deck, but wouldn't want to hear ding, ding, ding all night long from the casino! For those of you whose cabins were directly underneath the casino - did you hear casino noise as you tried to sleep?[/quote]

Can someone answer the above question - is there noise from the casino above? How about the smell of smoke?

Thanks!

No smoke, no ding-ding, no music, no nothing. The only noise I heard was one night when there were several people walking by making a lot of noise. But that happened only once in 14 days. I'm booked for a 14 day back to back on Plaza deck, and was thrilled when it was available. It's really an awesome area.
