bpphoto Posted April 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2017 Hi All, I was just wondering where the smoking area is on Oasis of the Seas? I have a cabin booked on Deck 14 and want to make sure that it's not right above or just to the side of me...Ugh! I would really hate that I can't enjoy my balcony in peace w/o choking to death every time I go out to enjoy the sea air! Thanks!

To assist in locating areas where smoking is permitted, guests will find visible signage posted within all smoking areas and ashtrays that are provided for use. Outdoor areas near restricted areas, food venues, and kids play areas and pools will not allow smoking. On Oasis class, smoking is not permitted in Central Park or the Boardwalk neighborhoods. So does anyone know where the "designated outdoor area" on the port side of the ship is? I'm not trying to be picky but just curious??? Better yet, which staterooms are just below the choking/smoking area???

Kilmarlic Posted April 18, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2017 My sister is a smoker so she used deck 15 on a regular basis. It's the area between the pool bar and the Solarium on the port side. I'm not a smoker but I didn't find it overbearing or simply obnoxious on the times that I accompanied her. It was well ventilated with a very attentive staff that kept emptying the ash trays (really helps with that gross smell). Also there was an area in the casino on deck 4 that was marked as smoking but those tables often held families who just sat there. On our March 19th sailing the smoking area never seemed overly crowded. On the occasion that I chose to walk the starboard side of the ship I found myself trying not to slip from wet decks surrounding the kids splash area and little people that were clearly having a great vacation. akl432 Posted June 17, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2017 Is there also a smoking area on deck 5? We are looking to book a balcony stateroom on deck 6 and want to make sure it would not be above a smoking area. Thank you!
Rare Lionesss Posted June 17, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 17, 2017 No, you should be ok. Unless smoke travels up from the crews smoking area, depending where your cabin is..... But, you should be far enough up. Enjoy

cantgetaname Posted June 23, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 23, 2017 We will be mid-ship Port side on deck 14. Do you think we will smell much smoke from the smoking area?
TimeToGetNauti Posted June 23, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 23, 2017 There is smoking in half of the casino and near the 2 pool bars on decks 15 and 16. This is on the port side. If you have a room underneath of the pool area on port side I would assume you would have some smell. Also anything near the casino. It's pretty strong down there since a small non ventilated area. If you can sit on your ocean balcony and smell smoke in a 20 mph apparent wind, then your olfactory senses are better than a bloodhound. Just saying, with no disrespect.

CCL-FAN Posted November 6, 2018 #13 Share Posted November 6, 2018 Yes, I know, but you never know if they'll come back. It's just that the tone of their post was a bit frivolous to me.

CCL-FAN Posted November 6, 2018 #15 Share Posted November 6, 2018 Not trying to start anything. I just thought that person's post was a bit over the top. While I am a smoker, I do respect non-smoker's rights But some border on extremism.

Any person who is sensitive to smoke can smell it a mile away in a high wind, never mind 20mph. We have often been on a deck 2 above the smoking deck and not been able to use our balcony, especially if your cabin is towards the aft of the ship, and when in port the smoke wafts up pretty high. I think there should be separate elevators for smokers - totally gross getting into one when a smoker has been partaking and gets into the elevator with his stinking clothes. 2

Speaking of stinking smells, perfumes and colognes should be banned on all cruise ships and unlike cigarettes, perfumes and colognes are designed to permeate their smells upon other people who “may” find perfumes and colognes to be more repulsive and more of a gagging trigger than smoke and to which some may suffer allergies, not to mention overwhelming those who share an “elevator” or those on a “balcony” who must endure a putrid smell of perfume or cologne from someone 20 cabins away or on decks from above or below, just as you describe smoke offends you. Personally, I find most of the “rabid” anti-smokers to be repulsive people I just ignore, especially when I am in a place where I am permitted to smoke! If the man on the moon was smoking, people who enjoy complaining would still complain.
