Just off the Harmony Very Pleased, except for the coastal kitchen

Recommended Posts

... *Please note, reservations are required for dinner at Coastal Kitchen. Beverages are not included.

I think this is more true on Quantum Class, because there is no Suite Lounge in the same room as CK. On Oasis class, it's hard to separate the services of the SL and CK.

Royal continues to offer JR Suites some of the full suite benefits and denies other benefits. This just confuses people.

I think if you'd added that line on the first post, it sure wouldn't have come off so "Harrumph. Lowly JS person, begone...."

The more I hear about CK I really prefer how Celebrity did things with Luminae a lot better. That experience was flawless, and in a tie between itineraries and pricing, I'd tip the balance toward Celebrity.

  1. We had no MDR assignment, Luminae was our assignment, no reservation needed. Show when you show.
  2. We had a nightly menu, plus whatever was available in the MDR, plus the "safe choices"
  3. Never slow service, or seemingly busy or understaffed. Small wait staff so maybe you didn't have the same waiter every day, but it was the same group of waiters daily.
  4. The door-locks issue that started the thread didn't apply, on the first night we gave our cabin # and showed our keys, but by day #2 they were 100% clear on faces and names.

It's on the to-do list to travel on an Oasis class ship eventually, but things like this don't motivate me to nudge it higher up the list.

Did you have wine or drinks with dinner? We did not, and never got a bill.

No.

I will add that I'm a beef eater and I did not like the "available every day steak" on the menu. I mentioned this to a chef I happened to meet, and thereafter I had a delicious filet every night.

I am a frequent Celebrity suite cruiser - of the two restaurants, Luminae and CK, there are pros and cons of each. Few kids and MDR menu in Luminae (and anything else within reason). Kitchen right next to CK was a great benefit, as were the double height windows.

True....... Should guests or those in a JS be served complimentary drinks in Oasis Class CK?

Sure, why not. We were just being served $4 a bottle Berringer. I don't think that's going to kill their margins. Lots of goodwill for very little outlay.

Ask me again on October 29 [emoji6]

Hey girl!! :D

We actually went in at 7 pm on each night we used CK, and it was very slow at that time also, maybe 1/4 full. Strange.

We did not go the first two nights, since we used our OBC and BOGOs. Was not impressed at all with 150, liked Giovannis but it was horribly busy and noisy. I think we will be like you and now just do CK every night.

Now...what to do with that OBC?? ;p

CK will work for us every night especially as we have no OBC this cruise although one can always find something to do with OBC -- casino, wine (outside the happy hour), etc.

I don't know yet. I hear it changes some.

FWIW, probably not, and I do wish they'd fix the door to open for JS pax. It's just weird. Easy technology.

They probably don't have the ability to open the door only during the dinner hour.

I plan on knocking 28 times in September/October. So I'll ask the manager 28 times.

Maybe a separate key like they used to do for the CL's

Curious if we can use OBC for gratuities in CK .... has anyone ever tried? We loved CK on Allure, but also dined in speciality restaurants to use OBC.

They have the ability to issue tickets on all 3 of the girls. You can get drinks anytime after 1130am and if it's not the house beer/wine you will be asked for your card to pay. I have gotten 0 tickets on o/a but did not on harmony at dinner, but not every night so it must be the staff.

So the fact that you find it confusing is your reason why JS's should not have acess to CK.

No other agenda?

The original description of CK on Quantum granted CK access to the JS's

When Royal Suite Class was originally marketed and rolled out, CK access for JS (dinner only) was granted.

it's really not that confusing :halo:

I didn't say I was confused  I said it confuses people - I should have said it might confuse some of the new to Royal cruisers.

Yup, sounds like once again, I will have to say my standard comment:

The only thing consistent ship to ship on RCI....is inconsistency. ;)

Since the implementation of SL replacing CL on Oasis class ships.....we D+ (unless in GS and above) have lost CL privileges. Grey area there on the wine served in CK for D+ in a JS, unless you are Painacle of course.

We simply walk in with our voucher wine, or wine from the DL. ;)

We had wine top offs almost every time. No charge, no slip

Watch out John. One waiter came around in CK on Oasis one night and topped off my glass (that I had brought in from the DL) without asking me. Then gave me a bill at the end, which I paid, but learned my lesson not to let them do it the rest of the cruise. We were in a "lowly JS". ;p

Yeah, I am sure I will just have to find "something" to blow that 100.00 on. :p

Was on allure a few weeks ago in a suite. Ate in CK and found it so so. Food wasn't impressive, neither was service. But overall that is consistent with Royal dining establishments. A larger menu in CK would have been welcomed.

Since this thread is about harmony and it's a new ship there was never a CL on this ship so the Sl did not replace anything. The ship was built with a diamond club and a suite lounge. As far as the other 2 o class ships the CL is still there but was renamed the diamond club and the Sl was added as a new feature.

Understand that....but the bottom line is still the same. No more CL for D+ on Oasis class any longer unless we book GS and above which would give us the privileges in the SL of the old CL. :(

For me, that means I don't have the option to alternate from DL to CL due to one lounge being too crowded....or my biggest thing...the good coffee machine is broken in one and I could always move over to the other one.:D Radiance class set up is my favorite (and I think Vision or Legend is like that) with the CL and DL being just across the hallway from each other. ;)

It won't matter soon enough. [emoji6]

Until then, I'm sure the lovely LaLa will charm her way out of it. [emoji2]
