Can I request a private table for two in MDR?

Recommended Posts

We are new to RCI, cruising before on other lines, but we are set to sail in October on RCI. Can anyone tell me if we can request a private table for two in the MDR. If so, who do we contact? Any information would be greatly appreciated. We will be on the Navigator of the Seas.

If you have My Time Dining, you just tell them as you show up to the dining room.

If you have traditional dining, make your table request to rcldining@rccl.com about 2 weeks before the cruise.

I did what clarea mentioned for my Ex cruise in May. I received a response with a table # prior to boarding. "Private" not so much. Was next to the prep area for the waiters. But it was just the two of us. We were able to make the first shows in the theaters since we were in and our in about an hour.

My DH has requested a table for 2 the last two cruises. I have a cochlear implant which makes big table conversation challenging. We have enjoyed this immensely with extra attention and less time in the dining room.

This cruise will be with 10 so our table will be a large one! Enjoy!:)

I always request a table for 2 at time of booking. I check once onboard if we did not receive it I visit the dining room manager right away and ask for it. We have never failed to get it taken care of in 17 cruises.

Bob made a great suggestion but if for some reason they do not honor it, go to the dining room manager once you board and they will make every effort to accomodate you.

We always do this too. Our last cruise we requested a table for 2. They put us at a table for 10. We visited with the Maitre'D and he said no problem. He gave us a choice of several tables for 2. We made our choice and were set for the week. Hopefully, they will get it right on our cruise next weekend. Otherwise, the Maitre'D can expect a visit from us.

We used to love large tables and met some wonderful people over the years, However, we always seemed to get put at a table with somebody sick and ended up catching whatever upper respiratory crud they had and we were sick for weeks afterward. We haven't had any problems on our last 5 cruises by going with the table for 2.

Absolutely, just ask at the entrance for "a table JUST for two." They will also accommodate for the remainder of the cruise. Just remember your table number and you can walk right past the front area to your table.

This works great if you have My Time Dining....but if you have regular assigned dining it won't be as simple without a visit to the Maitre 'D ahead of time..

Absolutely. I've found the magic words are: "We would like to sit at a large table with 6 to 10 guests please".

Works every time.

Well, to be fair, we actually did get a large table last cruise. :)

Yes you can. We request a table for two when we book, but you will find your dining neighbors are very close to your table anyway. We try to be sociable and usually find nice people to chat with during dinner.

That awkward moment when you are taken to your table and see that your "private table for two" has been squeeze between two other tables for two, and your having dinner 10 inches away from your neighbor. Happy Happy Happy:):)

It would have been nice if the black family who came to our table had requested to eat alone last week on Allure of the seas.

Rather than upon arrival at the table turning round to the waiter who escorted them and infront of my wife and I and the other couple at the table and saying "I told you we did not want to be at a table with white folks" then demanded another table before marching off with the waiter.

We always do Early Traditional in the MDR. We've been Cruising by ourselves since 2010 and have always requested a table for two. We've always been given a table for two and they have been in fantastic locations. Never have we been stuck in the middle of others. Lucky I guess. Enjoy your Cruise.
