So I've received three calls in ten days from the same PVP . I've told her I have no plans on cruising Carnival for a few years as we've decided we want a change and will be cruising on Princees or Royal, also I book through my cruise specialist TA not Carnival. I asked her to take me off her list and to stop calling and what happens...she call again two days later:eek::eek:

I haven't even been on the Carnival website for months. Starting to get a little ticked off .

That's too bad. I used to receive a call every time I went on the site, which I did every day to check my booking to see if the price dropped. I asked mine to stop since I worked overnights, and he did stop, unless I left a message for him to call.

Maybe try calling or emailing Carnival and asking them to take your phone number out of the database? Or maybe you can update your profile and take out the phone number.

Log into your profile on Carnival.com Put (555)555-5555 as your phone number. Worked for me when I was getting bombarded. Then when I did book a cruise, I changed it back to the correct number in case of legitimate contact was(is) needed.

This should get their attention and end the phone calls for you.

You first need to register your phone number on the Federal Do Not Call list and wait 30 days.

Otherwise, annoying as it is, it is not a violation for a company to make a solicitation call to someone with whom there is an established business relationship.

I would email the PVP and request removal. That way there is a paper trail and if it happens again, your request can be documented and escalated.

According to the 1088B Form provided by the FCC, a simple request for the company to no longer call you is sufficient.

"The rules permit consumers to further limit telemarketing calls to their residential telephone lines in two ways: by

signing on to the National Do-Not-Call Registry (http://www.ftc.gov/donotcall/) or by asking a particular business

not to call again (company-specific do-not-call request)."

That's some impressive document. But the part about having a business relationship in the past 18 months or making an inquiry within the past 3 months is in there on page 3.

I still think the OP has a better chance of rectifying the situation on a personal level rather than calling the feds.

I wanted to bring that up... thief. Going on their site, terms state:

Unfortunately, that information is incorrect. The 1088B Form states the following:

In these situations, however, you may cancel the permission to call, end your business relationship, or prevent future calls based on a personal relationship by making a company-specific do-not-call request. Advertisers have no more than 30 days to honor National Do-Not-Call registrations and company-specific do-not-call requests. Such requests must be honored for a period of 5 years.

in response to:

(1) have agreed in writing to accept telemarketing calls from the business

Dealing with the situation on a personal level has proven to be inefficient for the OP. In the original post, Midwestgal stated that she "asked her to take me off her list and to stop calling and what happens...she call again two days later."

I went into the site and changed my number....let's see how it goes.

If she calls again I will ask to speak to her supervisor , I've been nice up to this point and I hate to get rude but I will if she calls me again.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Sadly that is true, for the next 30 days carnival can keep calling before they are in violation, unless the OP accesses the website again, in which case consent is once again granted until revoked... As the OP just did.

If you have a young child just hand them the phone and tell them it is Santa wanting to know what they want for Christmas.:D

My daughter has been doing something like that with our 3 year old grandson.

We are on the do not solicit list and still get 3-4 of these calls each day. Now if I have time like to get on the phone get a person and see how much time I can waste for them asking ridiculous questions.

The Do Not Call list is ineffective. They openly admitted on the Today show that they are so swamped with complaints of companies still calling that they can't do anything about it. We have been on it since the start of it and we still get calls constantly. Most start out as recordings, then hit 1 to speak with a rep, 2 for something else and 3 to be removed from their calling list. Hit 3 and they still keep calling. We just got to the point where we hang up on them.

I politely ask one caller how we can get our number removed from their calling list. Her very rude reply was "Dare ain't nuthin you can do!" Then she hung up on me.

PVP IS GETTING ANNOYING

Every time I go to Carnival's site I get a call in 5 minutes. I may go to the site 2, 3, 4, 5 + times a day sometimes especially if I am researching and EVERY TIME I get a call & immediate email. They have to chill with it, there is a way to do it right, but calling some 9 times in a day is a bit much.

Up until a few months ago it was NEVER like this.

They did this to me too! It's so frustrating! I did at one point tell a former pvp of mine that I was not booking a cruise and I couldn't because of work/nursing school. I was just looking at prices and seeing what was out there. I wish I could book but not everyone who looks at the site is in a place where they actually can!! Still every time I logged on, phone call and immediate email. I finally told her if she didn't stop when I was ready to book I wouldn't give her my business and I wasn't kidding. It finally stopped.

I feel your frustration. I wish there was something you can do...

Now I'm feeling slighted. I have booked two cruises through the Carnival site. I log on at minimum once a day to check my price, shore excursions, etc. And not once have I received a call from Carnival! The only e-mails I have received have been confirmations for bookings and/or payments.

Not looking too good for a call from the upgrade fairy for my next cruise:confused:

My Carnival PVP used to call several times a month, until I started saying: "Wow, I really won a free cruise and I can go anytime? That's great I'm so happy you called, when do I see my boarding pass.........Hon, it's Carnival, we won a free cruise!"

Calls stopped shortly afterward.

At least u have one calling even if it's when u don't. I can't get mine to call me back half the time or answer emails. I understand he has other clients, but how did he receive an award for being a top PVP? And when I call he seems to rush me off the phone. 😡
