Carol: can't tell you how sad I am for you guys. Try to drink your lemonade and stay happy. I know that's a stretch. Know Bobstack and others on Conquest are pulling for you. Hang in there.......if you can post again, we'd all love to know when you get moving so we can follow/or not on the webcam

I guess Miss Erica is just too busy to post yet. Hope she'll get on here later tonight and tell us the nitty gritty.

I asked Stacy at the bottom of the webcam page to ask her mom if she could if RCCL is offering OBC. She just posted that they are offered to get off the cruise and get a free cruise voucher. Wonder how many locals will take them up on it?

Hi – I am on Voyager with my DH an DD and SIL. Although we expected to be on the ship today and tonmorrow for 2 sea days, it is a bit disconcerting to realize we haven’t sailed at all. The casino nor the shops can open until we sail out into international waters I think. They can’t even play Bingo they said. The bars are open on limited basis. It’s not horrible, ‘cause after all, we ARE on a ship, and for me, that’s become the destination! But we have not gotten a captain’s update since before lunch, so I’m guessing we will be here another night. I’m a bit jealous of our friends on the Conquest for getting through that window of opportunity earlier this afternoon. Good for them! Hopefully we will follow early tommorrow morning. BTW – our Meet & Mingle scheduled for today was postponed, time TBD. And yesterday, when we were due to have an informal meeting at the Vikin Crown Loune at 3:30 pm before sail-away, most of us were still staning in line IN THE PARKING LOT waiting to check-in. Embarkation did NOT go well. But again, I am GRATEFUL TO BE ON A SHIP!

SIGNING OFF FOR NOW - LIVE at 4:08 pm MONDAY 12/14 FROM THE FOGGED-IN VOYAGER!
That stinks! We got off the VOS yesterday and fog was TERRIBLE pulling into port and I imagine Galveston would be a tricky port to maneuver. We actually did not get "called" off the ship yesterday until 11:30 and then waited in line for another (nearly) 2 hours to go through customs. It was a bit hectic. I felt bad for you guys trying to get on because we were still on board when we have actually EMBARKED before! Hope you have a great cruise!!!

Just what definition of soon are you using there Dylan?

I suspect they are another 12-16 hours in Galveston, sadly...

There has now been an announcement the captain will let us know in 15 minutes what's going on and our options. Bit of a lynchmob building up around customer services and 4 police cars at the entry ramp! Must admit communications has not been the best. No updates since 11:30am which is getting everyone rattled!

shame that the lynch mob mentality is forming. I know lack of communication is frustrating but the Captain is at the mercy of the Port Authority and obviously the weather. So very sorry this is happening. With police cars, sounds like some people will likely be "escorted" from the ship.

Is it Captain Patrik aboard?

Would hate to be the captain because safety is first priority but today with fog it sure makes explaining to folks that want to get the cruise under way...that they are stuck with some services closed off etc...

I doubt the police there are any big deal... they are just watching things going on most likely. I would hope there is no need to haul folks off the ship...RCCL, the ship and captain are not responsible for the fog. Our lifesaving helicopters are grounded flight delays are in place...nobody wants fog to cause problems...the upset pax have to realize it is not RCCLs fault.

Hopefully they give some great options.

Heck, down here the Coast Guard, more specifically the Port Captain, is the one that decides to close the port.

The latest is that Roatan is being skipped and as long as we sail before 2pm tomorrow the other stops are ok. The only credit will be for port taxes in Roatan. All passengers are being given the option of disembarking and getting a voucher for a different cruise on the future. This would be for 100% of the price paid. Eveyone is being allowed of the ship now if they want to go into Galveston. No mention about leaving people behind this time! Nobody being carted away in police cars!

• Port of Galveston has been closed all day and remains closed at this time.
• No explanation given how Conquest was able to leave if the Port has been ‘closed all day’. Captain did say it was the decision of the port officials and himself to stay in port, AND that the size of this ship, and the fact that it needs to turn around to depart, leaves only 30 meters room of error. I guess Conquest was pointed in the right direction!
• Weather not due to improve until tomorrow morning at the earliest.
• Cancelled port of call at Roatan Honduras. Still on the itinerary is Costa Maya on Thursday and Cozumel on Friday, but as always, that is contingent upon weather.
• No compensation forany missed ports.
• Guests who want to abandon this cruise may do so by 11 pm tonight and get 100% refund to be applied to a future RCCI cruise.
• Guests who would like to debark to spend the evening in Galveston may do so but are asked to be back on oard by 11 pm tonight.

Captain Mortensen sounded very terse. I know this cannot have been a good day for any of the crew, especially after the chaotic embarkation yesterday. Oh well, I’m OK for now in my Promenade cabin with my Christmas lights and mini-tree!

Makes sense. When the port was closed last year on our return, it was eerie to wake up surrounded by fog and water - and see all sorts of different ships lined up.

I agree to a point that the police might not be a big deal but I also know that in any large group of people, there are irrational jacka$$es that can let their tempers rule over their common sense. All it takes is one guy with too much to drink to start mouthing off - and he's gone. I really feel for the passengers onboard and hope that even though RCCL is not at fault for this that they do something "nice" for everyone - even if it's future OBC or an open bar for an hour or something. Here's hoping that tomorrow morning is bright and beautiful!

Captain Frank. He said the reason they could not leave is the port has been closed all day. That doesn't make much sense as Conquest left. He also said that the ship is too big to turn round in the fog and safety is the number one consideration, which is totally correct. Right now looking like sometime tomorrow morning for the departure.

thanks carol and vauxhall girl - I hope you have a great cruise even with this glitch. It will be interesting to see how many people take them up on the re-booking offer.

The worst part about this, besides being stuck in horrible Galveston would be that stupid TX law that restricts the ship to only selling a VERY limited selection of alcohol and beer until they're in international waters. Being stuck on the ship wouldn't be too bad as long as you can have your preferred drink served.
