  1. Loving your adventure so far EllieJay. Looking forward to reading more.
  2. Re the no mid ship stairs, we normally go forward then we’re ok, I’m generally fine with the movement. On my last Britannia cruise (a short one) we were mid aft so that was a bit of a pain as they’d blocked the aft corridor off for confinement cabins! In June I’m back to forward on E deck but quite close to mid-fwd so fingers crossed it will be as good as in 2017!
  3. I bet it is! This was arranged by his TA and seems there’s several of them being bussed in!
  4. Since 2020 I haven’t found the deals so good. Add on the dollars onboard as well. I was looking at one that went to Malaga and I wanted the excursion to the Alhambra- nearly 300 dollars each!
  5. Have a great cruise John. We went on one Princess cruise in 2019. At the time it took me a while to ‘get into it’ and I wished I hadn’t pre paid for the soft drinks package as it was difficult to find anything about it onboard. Alfredo’s was good but now is not included in the fare which is a shame. The weather wasn’t great so it was often hard to find a good seat inside. We only had an inside cabin but I think if we’d had a balcony we would have enjoyed it more. I often look at Princess cruises but find they are so expensive. I was impressed with the champagne fountain on the formal night although I did think ‘what a waste if champagne!’ Also all the balloons coming down from the ceiling but, again, thought of the waste when they were all popped on the floor! This was Sapphire Princess.
  6. Morning all, thanks again for all your good wishes. The power of cruise critic I think - I’m much better today at last! The sun is shining, I’ve got two loads of washing out and I’ve been sitting in the garden. Just come in now to cool down before my afternoon shift. Here’s a funny thing - well I’ve never heard it before. John’s work mate is going on his first ever cruise soon on Iona. It was arranged by a TA. Anyway, he has to park at Southampton airport and then they’ve put on a bus to take them to the port! Anyone heard of that before?
  7. Thanks all, I’m really surprised how long it’s lasted, it’s knocked me for six! I fell asleep about 3 times yesterday!
  8. Evening all, my weekend went downhill after Saturday. From Sunday onwards I’ve had a horrible stomach bug, goodness knows where I got that from, John is ok 🤷‍♀️ I was so looking forward to the long weekend but I’ve done nothing except sleep and read. Back to work today but I worked from home cos I’m still not right. Sadly couldn’t visit mum today because I didn’t want to risk passing it onto her. They had a VE Day thing there and we were hoping to catch the end of it which was a singer. Mum enjoyed it anyway.
  9. I had Captain Camby as my first captain, I’ll never forget his last night ‘speech’ he was thanking his crew for all their hard work - I was nearly in tears but then I was just loving everything and didn’t want to get off! Captains recently haven’t had much of an impression on me but I was pleased to have Camby again and Paul Brown and Neil Turnbull stood out too.
  10. The sun’s gone in again here! I actually feel quite cold!
  11. Glad you had a great time Andy, I can’t wait for my Britannia cruise. Disappointing to hear about the entertainment, the silent disco would be better in the Crystal Room surely. We had it in the Tamarind on Ventura. I honestly think we had more varied entertainment on Aurora recently. We had a jazz orchestra in the Crows Nest one evening who were good. Also an outside group ‘The Celtic Harps’ as well as a couple of sets by Pulse and that was a four night cruise! I’ve never had time for a film on Britannia before, perhaps I’ll get the chance this time!
  12. I’ve been on 11 cruises now and never had the food offered by the pool!
