Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Head north to Lauderdale By The Sea and spend time on the beach there. Or head south and spend time on the beach in Hollywood or Dania Beach. All three locations are beautiful and normally a little less crowded.
  2. Head over to South Beach and spend the day there. Plenty of restaurants and bars in that area. If you're interested in having seafood Uber over to Garcias on the New River. Fish is delivered right to their dock behind the restaurant. If you're interested in Cuban food head down to Calle Ocho and stop at either Versailles or La Caretta. Versailles is the most popular Cuban restaurant in the entire country.
  3. Rent two vehicles for the minimum twenty four hour time period. Store your luggage in the vehicles. Head over to South Beach in Miami Beach and spend the day there. Head back over to the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center around 7:00PM to return the vehicles. Take the free shuttle over to MIA to check in for your flight.
  4. Contact Larry's Limos for a price quote. Highly recommended company that provides reasonable prices, knowledgeable drivers and clean vehicles. Always satisfied with there service.
  5. Most hotels in the Blue Lagoon neighborhood have shuttle service to the Port of Miami for a fee per person. The hotel price is also more affordable instead of staying in the downtown Miami area where prices are higher, especially during the winter high season.
  6. There is no service from New York Waterway In Weehawken New Jersey to the pier in Red Hook Brooklyn. This isn't the smartest idea but if you want to stay in Weehawken take the ferry over to Manhattan on embarkation day and either Uber, Lyft or cab over to Red Hook. You could also use Carmel or Dial 7 limo service too.
  7. Contact Larry's Limos for a price quote. Used by many Cruise Critic posters. They offer reasonable rates, knowledgeable drivers and dependable vehicles. Personally used them a few times and always satisfied with there service.
  8. Hotel rates change drastically in reference to the time of year you are cruising. A four hundred dollar hotel in winter high season can cost you two hundred dollars in the summer low season. Please let us know when you set sail?
  9. All rental car companies provide free shuttle service from there facilities in Cape Canaveral over to Port Canaveral. Most rental car companies are very busy on cruise turnaround days. When you return your rental vehicle there you either wait for the free shuttle bus or you can Uber, Lyft or cab over to the port. I normally drop off my family and luggage at the port first and then return the vehicle by myself. The process usually takes around and hour. I repeat the process if I'm renting a vehicle at the conclusion of my cruise. We gather our luggage and walk over to the shuttle pick up area. If the shuttles are busy we hail either a cab, Uber or Lyft to get us over to the rental car facility in Cape Canaveral.
  10. My family's passport applications were received in Philadelphia on January 31st. They were sent as regular service. I received notification on February 28th that they were completed and being sent back to me. They were sent from the Portsmouth New Hampshire facility and arrived on March 2nd.
  11. My family likes Country Inn and Suites in Cape Canaveral for a one or two night pre cruise stay. Just a nice place very close to Port Canaveral.
  12. As for Fort Lauderdale check if Louie Bossi's on Las Olas Blvd has an Easter Brunch. Busy, noisy fun place with excellent food. One of my South Florida favorites, especially for Italian food.
  13. Isn't Wonder Of The Seas currently sailing from Port Canaveral. When is this cruise? If you're traveling between the Port of Miami to Port Everglades or in the opposite direction a cab, Uber or Lyft works fine. The forty five minute trip should run you around seventy five dollars plus tip!
  14. I'm unaware of any reserved parking at the Port of Miami. I know personally that you can park at any garage and I always suggest you park after 10:00AM. After 10:00AM most of the passengers from last week's sailings have left the garage and are on there way home. I normally unload luggage and my family directly in front of the terminal first and then drive over to the parking garage. Secure the vehicle and walk back over to the terminal to meet up with my family.
  15. Dania Beach Casino on Dania Beach Blvd has a long term parking lot that serves cruise passengers heading over to Port Everglades. Not sure of price or company name.
