  1. If you used a TA, I would copy and send this review to them while you're still on the ship.
  2. Based on our experience this past July for 8 of us dining in Chops on the Oasis.......don't waste your money. My husband and I picked up the tab of over $700 and we might as well have flushed the money down the you now what!!!!
  3. There are technically no longer any 'Formal" nights on Celebrity. I can tell you, based on what I've seen on recent cruises, we've come a long way from the Zenith EVENING CHIC Each itinerary features one to two “formal” nights we call Evening Chic. Evening Chic means you dress to impress, glamorous and sophisticated in your own way, with a cocktail dress, skirt, slacks, or designer jean, an elegant dress top or blazer—some guests even pack a tuxedo or gown for onboard photos. The Daily program, delivered to your stateroom and available at the Guest Relations Desk, will be your guide to the correct attire each evening. If you do not wish to participate in Evening Chic, Smart Casual attire is acceptable for dining and theater.
  4. My Paternal Grandparents came from Sicily. Story goes when my Neopolitan Mother met and married my Sicilian Father both sets of Grandparents weren't happy. Then when the Grandchildren (me first then my Brother) came along.....everything was perfect on both sides of the Families!!!😍
  5. It's definitely not just Celebrity and Princess. In addition to having Elite+ status on Celebrity, we're also Diamond with RCI but hadn't sailed them in years. We did, however, to spend time with our Daughter's Family join them this past July on the Oasis of the Seas. The quality of the food was the worst we've had on any cruise. With the exception of the $700 dinner for 8 in Chops (which defintely wasn't worth the money) I never finished one dinner in the MDR. As a result, RCI is now on our.....never book again list. Just hoping our January Celebrity experience on the APEX doesn't end up with the same results!!!!!.
  6. It really was. While we were standing on our balcony watching the eruption I could only think of one thing. First to provide some history, both my maternal Grandparents (they didn't know each other at that time) and their Families came from the Naples area of Italy. They entered the U.S. through Ellis Island in NYC in the very early 1900"s, ultimately met as adults and married. When I was a young girl, my Grandmother told me stories that when she was very young Mt. Vesuvius erupted and they all had to run from their homes with bed pans on their heads to protect them from the lava and ash. The night we stood on our Silhouette balcony watching Mt. Etna erupt and saw the red lava coming down, all I could think of was my Grandparents and their Families running with bed pans on their heads to protect themseves from burning.
  7. I stated in my first sentence "I have no evidence to back this up"!!! But this is also not the same Celebrity we first sailed in the early 1990's. When was the last time you were through a cruise ship kitchen?????
  8. I have no evidence to back this up except assuming it's cost effective. No kitchen staff necessary to spend time peeling, cutting, boiling and mashing!!!! 🙂
  9. We never wanted to visit Mt. Etna either. But I can tell you that when we visited Taormina a few years ago and sailed out of port in the dark, the highlight of the entire 11 night cruise was standing on our port side balcony on the Silhouette and watching her erupt.
  10. Because I suffer from motion sickness, the key for me when selecting a cabin, is the direction the bed is facing. My body has to be facing forward (like driving in a car). Cabins 9191 and 9197 have the bed facing forward. Cabins 9195 and 9199 have the bed facing aft. If this doesn't apply for you, and the cabins are closer to mid-ship, I don't see any cons.
  11. What scares me even more is that the mashed potatoes might be instant! If so Celebrity (under the RCI umbrella since 1998) has truly eliminated so many of the things that made them special on our first Horizon cruise in the early 1990's.
  12. If we are served anything that resemembles this on our Janyuary Apex sailing, it will defintely be our last Celebrity sailing!!
  13. ....and this is what happens when I don't proof read before I hit send!!!😂
  14. I've never noticed a bin for donated clothes and have always just left them in the cabin. P.S. I'm typing this wil my glasses on!😎
  15. You're very welcome!!! I'm a retired Director of Training & Development responsible for proof reading every piece of developed training materials before they were finalized and printed!! Having said this, fortunately I've caught quite a few of my owns typos before I hit the send key🤩!!
  16. "As of this past February, when we last sailed, I was informed that they do donate the clothes."
  17. We sailed both the Zenith and Horizon prior to our sailings on the Century class ships followed by Solstice class (have our first Edge class scheduled for January). For the Zenith & Horizon, even without standard balcony cabins and all the bells & whistles of today's Mega ships, the entire ambience of the ships was outstanding!!! Formal evenings in the MDR (no specialty restaurants back then) were Formal!!!
  18. Your reply makes me want to do a lttle research. Wondering if Celebrity informing that tableside flames were no longer permitted was actually due to firecode issues, or the fact since they were purchased by RCI, that was now the new Celebrity protocall. To be quite honest, if this is the reason, it wouldn't surprise me in the least.
  19. I'll probably get blasted for my comment but here goes.....we've come a very long way (and I know this can no longer be done because of safety fire issues) from Crepes Suzettes and Bananas Foster prepared tableside by the Maitre'd to complete what was once a 5 star Main Dining Room Celebrity Dinner!!!
  20. Even with all these CC perks, I don't recommend anything earlier than 12:00 pm.
