  1. Of course keep in mind that the complimentary wines offered can vary from voyage to voyage. For reference, here is a recent posting of what is offered on Regent: Seems odd that there is only one Bordeaux blend, and it’s offered for the Pool Grill.
  2. Is this an actual thing, or are you just poking fun at all the flambé options in QG?
  3. We sailed with Matt last year when he was ACD on Odyssey, and delighted to hear he’s now CD…he made such a positive impact on us enjoying that cruise. Glad you’re in great hands with him!
  4. Thanks for posting on your experience - hoping that Seabourn is listening/reading!
  5. We’ve had 3 SB cruises in the past year and each time got a nice acknowledgement, as well as usually a sense of what it was going for. For example, on Odyssey it was to expand or redo the area the crew could work out. And because it goes to the crew in general, never felt it would be an influence to how we were treated (and compared to earlier sailings where we did not donate to it, have seen absolutely no difference in treatment by the crew).
  6. We’re looking ahead to our first Cunard (and Queens Grill) experience and to the option of ordering “off menu”. We’ve heard if the ingredients are in there, we can order it - “the galley is your oyster”, given enough notice for them to prepare it. There are two items in particular I’m thinking of, but they may be labor-intensive: the Queens Jubilee Pudding (Jemma Melvin’s trifle), and a white tomato soup. I’ve been reading not many households in the UK made the Pudding because of the effort involved, despite the ingredients being available. Likewise I’ve made the white tomato soup (as well as having it on another cruise line), but it needs a lot of time to extract the white essence for the soup. Other things we’re thinking are Tournedos Rossini entree and Pavlova dessert, but those I would expect would be no problem. If the ingredients are available but it’s a hard dish to make will we be turned down?
  7. For me it’s the reviews from people who have been on a cruise line previously that carry more weight, as opposed to someone new to the line. As a first timer on any line there may be things that are different; over reasonable differences in service I’ve seen people become livid over in their reviews simply because they apply what they are used to from another line to their current experience. This has been a great thread because of @Jack E Dawson having Cunard experience to base it on. As I approach my first Cunard voyage in a couple months I will try very hard not to make comparisons to other lines…otherwise I’d be just shortchanging myself of the unique Cunard experience!
  8. So if we didn’t bring enough to start with from Southampton we can top off at a port stop? What a great policy. We’re planning to bring some wine for our cabin but will likely buy wine at dinner from the list. I am so looking forward to our first Cunard voyage on QV in a couple months!
  9. I think from their handle it’s a shared account for both Hope and Barry (Ho - Hope, Bar - Barry). FWIW love that approach! My partner is not on CC, I am not on FB - often our posts in each forum reflect views from both of us.
  10. Thanks - Is there a different email to send it into if you are based in the US?
  11. Thanks Dan! We’ve ordered ahead for Kombucha before, but what they provisioned out of Portugal the last time we sailed wasn’t one that we liked - we’ll check out the Mother and try to get that next time. It’s like when we were on Crystal Serenity last year and there was no coffee pods for the machine in our cabin, and no stops had it where they could purchase along the way. And it was a featured amenity for our cabin - on the menu, so to speak. Made for a grumpy start to the day all week long, that’s for sure! Or when we started looking at the “best before” dates on the condiments Crystal was stocking - apparently once in their stores they don’t check for whether it’s still good or not, after finding most were a year past. Provisioning a ship, regardless of who is operating it, is complicated and no one seems to get it right 100% of the time. Did not stop us from enjoying a great cruise.
  12. Would love to hear about your experience, either good or bad. Seabourn IMHO has shown ability to change things based on customer feedback, and your “fresh eyes” can highlight things that get overlooked by people not new to the line. Bon voyage!
  13. Like others, we’ve had 3 Seabourn cruises in the last 10 months and never had issues logging in or posting, and also don’t mention it to anyone. Clearly this seems to be selective targeting; can see it being used to block some people from websites with trivia answers, but in this case it’s troubling/wrong if some people are getting blocked from posting here.
  14. Yes on both counts; the bus tour was an extra cost item, but the “lunch + Hilton” was free as part of the Seabourn FlightEase transfer. Hope that helps!
  15. We’ve done both flying out of BGI; the bus tour is nice and gives a good overview of the island, and the transfer had a buffet lunch and a function room reserved for the transfer group at the Hilton.
  16. Hope you have a great first-time experience. The good news is we’ve seen a decent amount of overlap between Seabourn and Crystal passengers, so likely you’ll be sailing with people you’ve been with before. They are not two different tribes, more like different parts of a large family. One set of cousins who love Portuguese Tarts, another who prefer their 24/7 caviar 🙂 And many who like both!
