  1. We lose all the deposit in my experience unless we immediately transfer it to a new booking
  2. Yes, the OP actually asked would the product work - we went down a temporary bypass debating was it even allowed, and now others are chiming in that there appliances worked. My hot brush works, my GHDs would not work but my other cheaper brand does so its quite a hard one to answer. Interestingly the list has been updated as I used to be forbidden to bring a heating pad (small electric blanket!!) but that is no longer listed. Heated curlers used to be on the no list and they are also no longer listed
  3. Ours is always sterling even if placed with Azamara and not a travel agent. I did ask for a $ booking (ok a few years ago, it would have been advantageous in those good old days) and was told no unless I used a US travel agent (which I then went ahead and did) - also got far better cancellation terms
  4. It is no problem bringing a hot airbrush. It’s classed as a hairdryer or styling item. I often take mine and use it at the desk plug no problem

    New website.

The website launch has been postponed - maybe too many bugs were found
  6. But it’s not a place to sit either day or evening. I should have been clear I’m not talking about eating places I’m talking about places to sit, read relax etc
  7. Agree, hated the video wall. We were told the curtains had to stay shut for “privacy reasons” so you could have been anywhere in the world and not known. Apart from the Living Room, Azamara doesn’t have much “light” on any of the ships as windows are small and often covered by shades
  8. It was Veuve de Vernay in December. Even after the F and B manager intervened the bar supervisor told the staff not to serve Moët. The F and B manager went ballistic. Moet appeared but there was sleight of hand with staff pre pouring at the bar again using Veuve. Eventually two days before the end of the cruise it was resolved by Miami management who were onboard and had seen it all. There certainly was a reluctance to make cocktails that weren’t on the Atlas menu. I wanted a lemon drop but it wasn’t possible then later that night Ruby made one no problem in the living room.
  9. Lucky you. Atlas Bar had v poor service and was serving cheap nasty sparkling white wine whilst there were superior products on offer even in the pool bar. It was shocking staff claimed they weren’t allowed to serve us the champagne but could send us a bottle to our room so we could drink it there - clumsy and rather crass attempt to recover service. We went for another approach DH walked to the pool bar and carried two glasses back.
  10. Most people on our cruises in the autumn upgraded to escape the included wine. The number using the Atlas Bar was a fraction of the number who had wine packages. Not surprising given the service in the Den was way more professional and friendly
  11. Both ours were in the night. There’s actually not a lot to see the interesting stuff is up river beyond Tilbury unfortunately
  12. Sad to leave the beautiful island of Lanzarote behind in the morning after 5 weeks to head back home to the cold weather
  13. We too were told by senior financial folks there would probably be no retrofit the revenue generated vs cost and impact of loss of space didn’t stack up. Now that might change but I doubt it. I also heard one specialty group who book cruise with private events and seminars would not come back if the lost the library- not sure how big an impact that would have on the overall decision
  14. Yes you can. On Journey they were on offer in The Den.
  15. If the seas are bad these suites rock quite a bit, yes think of the same motion as at the computer desks. It’s because they are high and relatively forward. As regards smoke smell it all depends if there are cigar smokers onboard and the wind direction if they have the little windows at the smoking area open plus how sensitive you are or are not to smoke smells
  16. Absolutely useless and incorrect information on that site re Edinburgh (!!!) but @fruitmachne has covered correctly. This year it is still the intention to use Charlotte Square or St Andrew Square (OK opposite ends of Princees Street but both great drop off points). From late June only (albeit at a cost) passengers coming into Newhaven will also be able to use the city trams into town (and if it was a turnaround port go straight to the airport from there)
  17. There is no consistency of standard on Azamara excursions, I have had trips that range from outstanding to appalling and all points in between. I like the idea of the database, I would also like Azamara to have minimum quality standards in terms of guides, their competence, knowledge and language skills and that these standards are shared with guests so guests can feedback when it is met well or when it is not. I find that where there are standards of guiding (sometimes with exams) set by tourist boards and Azamara use these registered guides the standard of the tour is usually far far higher than the ones where the operator has scratched around and just found someone who speaks English or worse still found a comedian interested in taking you to their cousins shop even through the tour is supposed to have no shopping and knows very little solid facts about the area they are guiding in. Azamara used to put escorts on tours and one of their roles was to feedback. Mind this did not always work, some did not want to give their friends on Shorex some extra work and others just went for the time out but it was a kind of indicator to the guide there was some supervision. Since Covid this has not happened so much, they need to bring that back. Azamara also used tablets that were passed round the bus for immediate feedback towards the end of the tour, in addition to the technology not working on one tour the guide stood over us and tried to check we were giving her a high score, unfortunately this intimidated many who then did even though the score was certainly not warranted
  18. Was only open two nights in the Caribbean in December which surprised us as we’d heard other ships had it working the month before
  19. The Patio needs to be open regularly in the evening to get the reputation as a good place to go with a larger number of guests. Post pandemic it’s been one of the last places to come back on stream regularly. Hope that’s fixed now
  20. Yes put a note in an envelope and take it to guest relations
  21. Ours will be post cruise. Currently it’s showing a cost to transfer to Chicago but we will see. We are indeed spending a few days in Chicago and look forward to exploring it. Been checking out things to do 😀
  22. I think our concern will be we have a very special birthday onboard and will want to be sure of a booking in Manfredi that night - as its Day 2 there is not a lot of time to fix it
  23. Thanks I see that now, our cruise ends in Milwaukee not in Chicago as booked. Hmm technically under UK legislation ( its a booking done under UK legislation) they will be obliged to take us to Chicago at no additional cost. Oh well one for our travel agent, its not a big issue - it ticks another US city for us 🙂
  24. Ok seems even more reasons for a transparent published policy!
  25. It all depends on prevailing prices and offers but always get quote with and without using the nights. If it’s a cruise that doesn’t get offers on it you might be ok otherwise it’s unlikely you will get any benefits from using them (you can always use them it’s just will it cost you more if you do)
