  1. That is about the only route that would sell during the winter. I wonder if there's enough demand to support 3 boats considering the competition from ACL and Viking.
  2. I"m on the Plus option so I get 2 one device plans included. It shows an option to upgrade to a 4 device plan for $50 (it's a 10 day cruise and I'm platinum). If I do that will I end up with 4 or 5 devices total?
  3. Not sailed on any of the Royal class ships. Coming back from Celebrity to try one. I have a regular balcony booked because that was all that was available. Using the 3 person trick I see there are some deluxe balconies available. Is there any difference between these and a regular balcony other than the sofa rather than a chair? Is the balcony the same size? Also some of them have a slight indentation where the hallway makes a little jog. Does that make a difference? Thanks
  4. Have rented lots of times on VRBO. Never had an issue and always been happy. Just look at the pictures and reviews very carefully. Send questions to the owner and see how they respond. For 4 nights I'd certainly consider the option if the price including all the fees was right.
  5. It's been a couple of years but I don't think it would be a problem. As I recall there were Ubers there waiting. Booked one and jumped in immediately. Of course that was before insane security lines.
  6. I don't know anything about this but that's just a minor fender bender. On our very first cruise some 26 years ago we got up early and walked down to the end of the dock in Vancouver (probably impossible now) to watch our ship come in. Someone made a major miscalculation of the current because as we were standing there, the Crown Princess headed straight for where we were standing. The starboard side of the bow connected with the corner of the pier sending up an enormous cloud of concrete and resulting in a large booboo to the ship as we went running. That one wasn't going to buff out. Had to reverse the ship back out and give it another go.
  7. As I recall it's right across the street. I know I stopped there on my walk back to the ship after dropping off a rental car at the train station.
  8. We went the very end of August and ended the cruise on Labor Day. There were no issues with water levels. As far as the jet boat goes, the levels didn't really detract from that excursion either, it just didn't go quite as far as normal. I'd recommend it as not much else in the area appealed to us and it was scenic and fun. As I recall, the Lewis and Clark excursion departs from Astoria. It's a neat town. I'm not sure I'd do the Lewis and Clark instead of spending more time in town unless I was into that kind of history. I can't speak to Mt. St. Helens. Saw it from a distance on the way to Mt. Rainier but that's about it.
  9. After seeing the hundreds of billboards for Wall Drug I vowed I would never go there. Sorry rather off topic. Having been to LL Bean I would certainly pick seeing something around Portland. But then my idea of shopping is to use a mouse.
  10. I'm not sure where the Comfort Suites is. The big cluster of hotels is directly north of the airport on either side of Semoran Blvd. That's the area that most people refer to.
  11. It's all over the map. In some places it's a lounge, in others it's a restaurant credit. In Atlanta for example its a private room for a period of time. If you're flying domestic it might only be in the international terminal. It all depends on what airports you frequent. It's an ok perk if it's free, but certainly nothing I'd pay for.
  12. Agreed. I was able to provide a letter from a physician on another cruise line.
  13. Ah, it's not scary at all. It's basically just calm water with a boat that goes fast between the more interesting views. We didn't go the full normal distance because of low water levels but it's a fun and scenic trip.
  14. I use a HooToo Trip Mate. It has a built in battery so it can be used for a time without power or it can also charge or power a phone. Can also attached usb storage to it so it can act as shared file storage.
  15. The AA terminal in ORD is just too small for the amount of traffic. The terminal is usually jammed with people and just feels way too crowded most of the time.
  16. Ok, but if the content is already on the tablet why do you need ships wifi at all. Just a little travel router to set up your own network. It doesn't need to be connected to the internet. Of course that assumes there is an hdmi port to connect the firestick to.
  17. It's been a couple of years but when we were on the tables were assigned. You got your table assignment during the check in process. Hopefully someone with more recent experience will chime in.
  18. Thanks kaisatsu for the great information. Interestingly, after a bit more research I've discovered that the departure and arrival times without an overnight are virtually identical for both options. There's just more downtime on the Bergen round trip. As far as scenery goes, if I have things correct, the Bergen round trip eliminates the Oslo to Myrdal on the train while the Oslo to Bergen trip eliminates the Myrdal to Voss rail. While obviously different distances, can you compare the scenery on those two? Much more interested in scenery than in cities so it's the journey that appeals.
  19. Navy Veteran has a great analysis. Personally I love the time cruising the river and although we went from Memphis to New Orleans, I would have liked to have more time cruising during daylight. It will get warmer as you go south or cooler as you go north, if that makes a difference. Consider what you want to see on either end and how much time you want to spend. Memphis and New Orleans both have many interesting things to see and do. Personally I prefer the pre cruise hotel location in Memphis over the one in New Orleans. The New Orleans Hilton is basically a convention hotel which although on the river, is removed from the main sites in the city. In Memphis you're right on the trolley line and easy transportation.
  20. Just to be clear, you put your phone in airplane mode and then turn the wifi back on. That way you can generally do anything including making phone calls if you have wifi calling.
  21. Did you book through a travel agent or directly. If you booked through an agent then the package would be sent to them unless directed otherwise by the agent. As I recall there was really nothing in the packet that provided any guidance beyond what was on the website. Luggage tags should be available at the Hilton.
  22. I've done Miller's Ale House in the past. They are a chain restaurant but typically have a lot of craft taps. Close to all the airport hotels. https://millersalehouse.com/locations/orlando-airport/
  23. Do I remember hearing somewhere that ships need to be under power to desalinate water?
  24. We are cruising from Bergen next year and are contemplating the options for seeing some of the Nutshell itinerary. As I see it, there are four options: Fly to Oslo and simply take the train from Oslo to Bergen; Fly to Oslo and do the published Nutshell to Bergen; Fly to Bergen and do the roundtrip Nutshell from there; or simply do the Nutshell like cruise shore excursion from Flam. I'm interested in how scenic the rail section between Myrdal is and whether that should be a deciding factor. Also, if doing the Nutshell from Oslo to Bergen, is there a best place to spend the night if one doesn't want to cram it all in one day? Thanks!
