  1. All river gauges in Germany have crested by now and only two of them are showing a level 1 or 2 but falling rapidly. Passau is not on a high water level anymore but of course the river is still higher than usual. There´s still a high water warning in effect for Passau. Seems the wave is through right now. steamboats
  2. @Host Jazzbeau usually PMs are meant for publishing and there's no Copyright violation but I'm not sure about the CC guidelines. As I said, I would have posted a link but this was in a PDF file in a Google dropbox which was linked on the Transcend website. But thanks for finding the Seatrade link. I haven't seen that yet. steamboats
  3. So here´s the final entry of our second day in Venice. Thanks for following! steamboats
  4. The easiest way to check is actually Google Maps ;-). Anyway it doesn´t tell you how high the bridges are and whether the river is closed. But that´s actually not easy to find out. Here in Munich we reached level 2 yesterday but it crested. Passau for sure will have a couple of more days of ups and downs regarding the water levels. The Inn river (confluence at Passau) is carrying a lot of water coming from Austria and Bavaria. Our Isar river has a lot of water flowing down to the Danube river. The Danube river West of the navigable area has a lot of water flowing down to Passau. So there are a couple of more waves coming. steamboats
  5. I do have a tabby British Shorthair 😉. Something I haven´t mentioned. There´s a department store in Venice called Fonadaco Dei Tedeschi. They have a rooftop terrace which can be visited for free with a great view over Venice. But you need an online reservation for it. We had one but unfortunately for the second day. As we originally wanted to stay for two nights (but then the flights back home became too expensive for day 3) we had a reservation for day 2 - by the time we had to head to the airport. So we cancelled. Our reservation was back online a minute after cancellation but unfortunately nothing popped up for day 1. So we had to skip this and chosed the Campanile of San Giorgio. More about that in todays entry which will go online later. steamboats
  6. As the ship is ADA compliant I was sure that they might have something which is only set up on demand. steamboats
  7. So unfortunately there´s a day coming when you have to disembark. But fortunately we have another night in Venice to explore the city. So here´s day 1 on Venice and Burano. steamboats
  8. Passau has crested but there is more water coming. So there will be another rise caused by the confluencing rivers. Plus the water is still rising on the Western parts of the Danube river (which is not navigable). Neuburg an der Donau hasn´t crested yet and is still rising. It´s not that bad in Passau. With a real high water that quare in front of the town hall (the recessed building with the tower) is flooded too. There are still cars parking there. steamboats
  9. Actually Lake Constance and the Rhine river part flowing into the lake is flooding so there will be some water coming down the Rhine river too. It´s just the question when and how much. steamboats
  10. Thanks, no need to worry about me. My home is high above our local Isar river (actually at least 90ft/30m). And the river has plenty of room so usually there are no buildings flooded. Wasserburg crested right over level 3. Passau is on level 3 right now and won´t reach level 4 according to the current forecast. You can check the webcam Webcam | PASSAU where you can clearly see some flooding. But the people there are used to it. steamboats
  11. The county of Rosenheim has an even more severe warning. Wasserburg am Inn expects level 4. So all is flowing down to Passau which has a pre warning. steamboats
  12. There´s a lot of water flowing down the Danube river til the 19th 😉 (to use a German saying). steamboats
  13. We currently have a high water warning. Our local Isar river will reach high water level 1 later today and will stay at this level for a couple of days. It´s raining (on and off) since Saturday and the WGs say this will last on at leat until tomorrow or Wednesday. The rain is even worse the closer you come to the Alps. So there´s a lot of water coming and joining the Danube river. I expect some nice high water levels over the next days. But that´s a come and go. It won´t last for a long time. But it´s an appreciated cool down over here after two weeks up to mid 90ies (and we all don´t have A/C). steamboats
  14. @Catlover54 it helps to have 30 days of vacation per year (which is the norm in Germany - so a total of 6 weeks as only the weekdays count). Todays entry is Trieste where we did explore the city on our own. In the afternoon we had a cooking class at the S.A.L.T. Lab. steamboats
  15. @Catlover54 law is still my main profession. And I wouldn´t call myself influencer (I don´t earn any money with my reviews). I just want to give information. I have the privilege to see and cruise with new ships as my DH is a cruise journalist. steamboats
  16. Our day in Zadar is online now including the Chef´s Table and a very extense behind the scenes tour. steamboats
  17. My answers: 1/2 - there is nothing obviously visible neither at the pool nor at the Cliff Whirlpool. But there is something (not that chair type, but it looks like you have to hang on) at the indoor pool in the spa area. Check my photos on here (for the spa it´s the last one of the indoor pool). 3/4 all doors to public restrooms or the outside areas either open automatically or have those new touchless bottoms where you just have to wave. Doors to the public restrooms did open automatically when you "touch" those buttons. There are also designated wheelchair accessible public bathrooms. steamboats
  18. I'm not onboard anymore but you can find photos and the menu of The Shelter here. steamboats
  19. A new entry... Day 1 - not too many photos but some of The Marquee Lunch and Atlantide Dinner and cocktails in the S.A.L.T. Bar. Tomorrow will be sort of an overkill of photos with a S.A.L.T. tour, a even more extense behind the scenes tour and Chef´s Table at the S.A.L.T. Lab. I´m still working on the dinner photos. steamboats
  20. ETIAS is no visa but a pre registration for those who are eligable for the visa waiver program. It´s pretty much the same as ESTA for the US. You have to register online and then get your stamp in your passport at arrival. So far it´s not yet implemented and no date given - just "in 2024". steamboats
  21. @Smitheroo that 50/50 thing only applies to people working for the government Like teachers, police and more. Regular emoyees can change to private insurance when the earn a certain amount but they have to insure 100%. Also when you're self employed you can change to private insurance. steamboats
  22. In Germany you can get private insurance when you have reached a certain monthly income or when you are working as a government employee (50% of your health costs are payed by the state/government and for the other 50% you have to get private insurance). So in my case it's because of my job. steamboats
  23. Without watching the video... I saw a photo of soft serve ice cream machines in one of the booths outside Indulge Food Hall onboard Viva. On Prima those booths on both sides had wine dispensers. steamboats
  24. Here in Germany there´s nothing like a free treatment. In other EU countries there is. As a German with public health care in Germany I do get the same treatment in any other EU country as a local with public health care gets. So in Spain public health care is free but that might be less than you get as public health care in Germany. So when I get sick in Spain I get the same treatmen as a Spanish (and I might get more/better treatment in Germany). O.k. I have private insurance so I have to pay anyway whereever I am in EU. steamboats
