  1. There's a lot of inconsistency with these vouchers and YMMV. I think it is best to ask when you are on the ship and when booking the restaurant. Usually, I book at the restaurant itself and they will let me know who can and cannot go. One time, I think it was on the Seaside because the YC is across from the specialty restaurants, they asked if we were going to dine with them but I said I have only one room with 4 people (2 adults, 2 teenagers -- all diamonds), he checked and he said that all of us could book with the voucher (which is not the case, as it should have only been 2 of us).
  2. Since Med cruises they pick up new passengers at most of the stops, so long as the ship does not depart, you should be able to check in but they won't wait for you. Change your flight, would be the safest choice.. Here's my story for last Xmas. Took the last flight of the day (never going to do that again), plane came 1.5 hour lates, we all boarded and the plane was on the runway, when then it turned back and asked everyone to get off and we were rebooked for the following day (cruise day). Our flight the next morning was 9am, delayed until 10am, as we were arriving in Orlando, the weather delayed our landing by another hour. So instead of arriving at Noon, then 1pm, we didn't get off the flight until 2, then had to get our bags and uber 1 hour to Port Canaveral -- I think we made it around 4-4:30 for the 6pm departure. They were packing up as we were arriving...VERY stressful.
  3. Lol-- wait till you have to walk by them at disembarkation --although, you will never see them again, so big whoop. Actually, the only other time is during ports, when the butler brings you through the crowd, stops the line, etc... I just tell my kids not to look anyone in the eye... Enjoy the YC!
  4. or just pay for both to be in YC... With that being said, I think there was one person that was able to get two cabins into the YC but honestly, I think that was very (very) lucky of them and it would not be the norm. Too many unknow factors that play a part in winning the bid, of which we have no clue what they are. good luck...
  5. Similar -- prior to the bidding process, I called into the upgrade fairy line and moved from a balcony to 2 bedroom on Breakaway for total cost for 4 -- $5000
  6. Unless the TA buys a block of rooms (and if they did, I doubt it would be in the Haven area), I find most prices are similar between website and TAs. The TAs may be able to sweeten the pot by offering free tips or additional OBC but I usually just monitor the prices on the website. When I book, I then transfer to be TA depending on what I want (i.e. some big box TA won't allow for bidding later on, so if you wanted that, I would steer clear from transferring to them).
  7. That price is total, NO flights but the drink package (if I remove it, I save $900 -- considering no one else in my party drinks, I might remove it next time), and specialty dining.
  8. Here it is in CDN.... Your price is like $8900 cdn.... I think we are being hosed...
  9. I think it is all the same -- there's a min bid... Best is to know your prices before to see if it is feasible.
  10. Who is going? If kids -- Allure all the way. Adults -- it is a coin toss. Entertainment -- Allure wins, hands down. Actually, I would probably prefer RCCL to MSC but if it is MSC YC (so try to bid for an upgrade), that would bring me back to MSC. At the end of the day, it is a vacation, you are being fed, drink package in hand, etc... and if you keep that mindset, I'd pick the one that saves me the most money.
  11. I received an email to upgrade from my YCI to YCD but the cost was not much more than purchasing the YCD straight out (I think I would have saved $300). I read on my cruise group someone went from inside fantastica to YCD with a bid (she bid YCI and they gave her a YCD).
  12. Is it possible? Anything is --- I think this question was asked before and even though it seemed impossible, they both got upgraded. So long as your friendship is strong and once one of you gets into the YC, you don't see the other for a week other than in passing when the butler escorts you off the ship faster, to your seat when the room is full, etc.. go for it....
  13. Did you get room 19019? I'm reviving an old thread because I just booked this cabin and wondering how noisy it was because I couldn't figure out what's above.
  14. Wow... I don't think that will be the case for our cruise.
  15. Thanks... For this upcoming cruise (woohoo, tomorrow), they wanted $1200 CDN pp min bid to go from YCI to YCD. I think my cruise is fully booked or all the YCD are sold out.
  16. Yes -- drinks -- not food -- specfically, looking for the types of champagne,,,,
  17. Anyone have the menu for the Magnum's Champagne & Wine Bar on Jewel?
  18. I guess the ship wasn't sold out? May I ask, was this a free upgrade ot monetary?
  19. I find this as YMMV -- usually I book a cabin of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers) we are all diamond, so in theory, only 2 of us can have the meal but when I went to book at the restaurant, they let us all in...their only question was if we were all diamond (this has happened for our last 3 cruises)
  20. It seems their non-YC cabin was upgraded to YCD for a lower amount than my min bid from YCI to YCD but as Mark_T had mentioned, maybe they had an Aurea Suite (they didn't mentioned that). In any case, I'm just glad to be on a cruise and in the YC
  21. Long story short -- I shall be happy with what I have an enjoy the inside but if not, I will then look forward to my YCD in Dec 2023! Thanks for all the info... I miss the days when you could call in and just get upgrade (NCL Haven 2016 era)...the good old days...
  22. Luckily I don't spend that much time in the shower as the rest of my family. But thanks for the heads up. 🙂
  23. Sorry, I meant that as a question not a statement. Curious, as long someone bids, does that mean someone wins? Or are they looking for a price point before they do the upgrade, i.e. if they don't get the price they want, the won't upgrade, even though someone had made an offer...
  24. This is the first time in the YCI (normally we do YC Deluxe), so not 100% sure how I (or more importantly, my wife) will like it. I saved $3K by booking two YCI vs putting me, my wife and my two teenage daughters in the same room -- plus 2 washrooms. That's my backup plan, right now the mock booking for our cruise shows 3 YC balconies left. Curious, when I think of bidding, I think as long as someone bids and there is a room available, it will be given away...I'm sure there's someone bidding for a YCD. Or is their computer system looking for a min price before upgrading a bid? From what I have seen on my sailing forum, some are being upgrade from non YC to YCD with a lower bid than my YCI to YCD.
