  1. Thanks Roz. Will be on Vista. Still in contact with a bunch of people from Regatta.....
  2. We also arrive 2 days early and have done exactly the same thing.
  3. we board around noon. Ship doesn't leave till 9pm. Are there the usual O activities such as trivia and tea on embarkation Day? Cannot remember. Thanks.
  4. And we brought a dozen bottles of wine to the ship. Liquorland in Sydney and Townsville. And a good bottleshop across the street in Broome where O has their shuttle bus
  5. We are still talking about it 6 months later. We did a bunch of wine tours while on this cruise. And spent a week in Sydney beforehand. If you want any more info just email me......marjim48atgmaildotcom
  6. Our cruise was the Oceania 35 day circumnavigation last December. Spent a week in Sydney before cruise
  7. We did a wonderful winery tour from Sydney....Hunter Valley. Check out the website for Gourmet Getaway Tours with Chef Jimmy. He only does the tours 3 or 4 days a week. Small group. Pickup behind our hotel (Hilton)...drop-off about a block away because of traffic snarls. Started off at Sydnfish market, stopping in Brooklyn, Australia for a breakfast that Chef Jimmy cooked. Then sushi making class. Then onto the Hunter Valley. We stopped at Ernest Hill, Pokolbin and Saddlers Creek wineries. Super food and wines. This was truly a find.
  8. We were on Oceania and brought a dozen bottles of wine onboard. Found a lovely wine store called Ligier on the main blvd near the Sheraton. 1 salesperson spoke a little English and kind of critiqued our purchases suggesting a few swaps. They created a container fully taped with a handle. They called a cab for us......too heavy to even carry a few blocks and also you couldn't hail a cab on the street.
  9. I googled Italy airline strike and found that there will be a 1 day strike July 15. Supposed to be ground staff air traffic controllers , check in staff, baggage handlers. Some cabin crew members .
  10. How was Moxy? We'll be there in August, also using points
  11. ☺️....we also ate at 5 Guys in George Street. Were going to eat at Jimmy's Felafel right down the street but they were packed as soon as they opened and we had to catch the ferry to see Carmen on Cockatoo Island. Needed something fast. Was just like the one in the U.S. we also ate at JP or PJ O'Brien's of George Street. Typical Irish pub. Hamburgers were bleh....Shepard's pie was good. Good draft beer . And if you are looking for a day trip from Sydney, we did a chef's tour. Incredible.
  12. Ok so I went searching ....I THINK it's called Palace Chinese Restaurant. Googled a bunch of places and photos...this looks like it
  13. The Grand Palace...261 George Street..in the basement. Definitely make reservations. Was pretty empty on a December Tuesday night but on Friday was packed Trying to remember the name of the great Chinese...will have to ask if any of the other couples remember but I do know the directions (don't laugh)....from Hilton Hotel go out the Pitt Street exit. Cross over to the other side of the narrow street. Walk about 20 feet to your left. There is a cut through in the building to go to next street. Walk in towards the right ..take the little escalator up .there are stairs going up to the Chinese restaurant. quite large upstairs. Super good. I'll try to remember the name
  14. John Bull.....thinking of HOHO BUS in Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow. Worth doing???
  15. I figured you would know the answer!
  16. I saw a free walking tour I think from the town, in BATH. Anybody familiar with this?
  17. We were on an Oceania ship just before Covid, that docked in PORT KELANG for the day. I had hired a private guide for 6 people. Posted on my rollcall and immediately filled the slots. Guide me us at the port. If I remember correctly only authorized ship vehcould enter the gates. Not a problem. Got off ship and walked along path to a big building....drivers were waiting there. There were people who found drivers to take them wherever.... The ride to KL took about an hour. We went to the Batu Caves first, which was the one thing I wanted to see. It was amazing. Spent about an hour there. Then drove to a bunch of sites. Our driver knew the best places for photo ops. We ate lunch at a typical local restaurant. Fantastic. Cost us about $6 a person US. Nobody got sick. Do a search for a private driver.
  18. Will post around August 16-18. Honestly we had Marriott points. This looked as good as any other hotel we would paying for.
  19. Absolutely. I know of 2 other couples who are also booked there. There has been talk about Moxie on this site . All seemed to be positive. When are you planning on being there?
  20. We stayed at the Hilton because we had points to use. Great location. The tram is right outside the door.
  21. Anything we asked of our butler, he didn/couldn't do. Left something in the Asian restaurant night before....he said not found...I went to lost & found...there it was. Asked if he could get any extra specialty reservations....18 day cruise....nope nothing available....I went to desk and got. Guess we are just not butler people.
  22. We are there in August. Can you post if you have one in July? Thanks
