  1. The problem is that at the same time as they are hiking the prices, they are watering down the product offering. It is no longer the elevated product that they've been known to provide. Price raises alone do not make a premium cruise line (or even an upper end mid range line). Cutting one thing here or there, okay but cutting lots of things, charging more for lots of things, at the same time as charging a lot more for the cruise fare seems foolhardy. I guess time will tell. We've enjoyed our X cruises in the past. While none of the cuts alone will send us elsewhere, the many little cuts, combined with the many extra charges for things once included, along with the fact that if we booked the identical prime Aqua class cabin and identical add ons for our currently booked 2024 cruise today, it would cost us $4350 over what we paid when we booked it in January. It would also have much less OBC credit. Before booking another X cruise we will be looking at many other options.
  2. Unless you are staying in a suite, Luminae isn't an option. It is the dining room for suite guests. If you are, and are underwhelmed by the menu on your anniversary night, I'd definitely choose Murano. Also, you might want to clue the maitre d into the fact that it's your 25th. They will likely bring out a special yummy rich chocolate cake as an additional dessert. They did that for us on our special anniversary. I'd definitely suggest the Lobster Murano, or Chateaubriand (or they've done both for us). The Crepes Balon Rouge is an outstanding choice for dessert as well as the Grand Marnier Souffle.
  3. Maybe. However we booked an Aqua cabin in January AI, refundable, lots of OBC. Today booking identical category, same inclusions refundable with less OBC and tons of cabin availability it more than 2x the price per person. Comparing apples to apples.
  4. Exactly. It is now far less expensive to book a balcony and specialty dining for every night of the cruise than to book Aqua. Makes NO sense.🙄
  5. It's even more ridiculous. Our AQ cabin is now booking for 3x the price we paid with identical add ons and less OBC. Still tons of available cabins in all categories. We'll no longer be looking only at X when booking future cruises. There's lots of other options for vacations.
  6. Prices on the cruise I'm talking about have increased over 200% on an S-class ship in 7 months with a great deal of availability in all categories still unbooked. That just doesn't make sense. I didn't do the math, but looked at all cabins available across the board and if I had to guess, I'd say more than 50% of the ship is unbooked.
  7. They have gone berserk. I just did a mock booking on a cruise we have booked to check cabin availability. I was looking for a particular cabin we like. Clicking on a cabin in our same category with all the same additions (AI, refundable deposit, etc.) the cruise priced out more than double the fare we booked back in January. There is still a very large inventory of all categories of cabins from inside to top suites showing as available.
  8. From looking at your avatar, yes, we are in Bucks County. Go Phillies and Birds! ..and go TO Murano lol!
  9. Absolposolutely! We're doing it 4x next cruise.😁
  10. Perhaps he did that because he was served lobster tails the size of a jumbo shrimp. I had one on my recently that was exactly 2 moderately sized forkfuls. If I had been charged $16.95 for it I would have been extremely unhappy. In fact, if that was served to me as the "complimentary" lobster tail I would have been equally unhappy!
  11. X pricing has gone up exponentially in the last year. Since we made our last booking in February the pricing for the identical cabin/amenities that we booked has increased over $1000 pp and there have been significant cutbacks and extra charges instituted. The cruise is still 7 months out with the ship less than 1/2 sold. This is on an S-class ship in the Caribbean. It has given us reason shop around elsewhere when previously, when booking a cruise we went to X as our go to cruise line.
  12. They use an ice cream mix. I've gotten it at the pool and ordered it in the theater before a show.
  13. Frozen Toasted Almond Drink Recipe By Islands Staff January 13, 2011 SERVES 1 1 oz. amaretto liqueur 1/2 oz. Kahlúa coffee liqueur 1/2 oz. Baileys Original Irish Cream 1 oz. vanilla ice cream 1 scoop of ice 1. Mix all ingredients in a blender. Serve in a tall stemmed glass. I always ask them to swirl chocolate around the glass. It's yummy...and it's available on the Classic beverage package!
  14. In the past I've been unable to use a VPN on board but haven't tried it since the changeover to Starlink. Has that changed or is X still blocking their use? TIA
  15. No. I always upgrade and DH doesn't.
  16. I'm thinking that there was no need for repeat purchases, hence no longer available. Thankfully there are lots of similar items (albeit less durable) still around for those who need them.
  17. How unfortunate for us! It's clearly a brand that holds up over time!!!
  18. The magnetic hooks we use were purchased from Amazon in a set of 4, each rated to hold 50 lbs. They work well for the purposes I mentioned above
  19. We always bring a dual voltage USB multi port hub to charge our devices and an adapter for the European outlet. That way we can charge all of our devices using the European outlet and keep the other outlets free for other use. Also, we bring 4 strong magnetic hooks (holds up to 50lbs). We put 2 on the back shower wall with a piece of twine to make an easy to pack clothesline. The other 2 we hang on the cabin walls for purses, hats, papers etc. A full contingent of over the counter meds for all purposes is good to have on hand.
  20. You would get Captains Club points for the category cabin you currently have, but would get access to thermal suites, get a bottle of bubbly on request, access to Blu as your dining room and water replenished as well as pillow menu, thicker robes and slippers, a nice X tote bag, a seapass card holder and an expanded room service menu (unfortunately you'd still have to pay the $9.95+ fee for delivery of anything but continental breakfast).
  21. We get unused OBC-R handed back in cash on the last night to avoid that penalty.
