  1. I've been checking regularly for my summer cruise on Allure and today the Entertainment page online finally switched to "Entertainment Reserve your seat now! Or check availability at Box Office or on Royal App once onboard." But there is nothing to click on to find or reserve seats. How do I actually select shows and make reservations?
  2. No one goes on strike and loses a day's pay for fun. People in Europe typically have plenty of time off they can use for fun too. If one-day strikes are common there then presumably they are effective there as well.
  3. When my union did a one day strike, the goal was to send a message to the head honchos that we were willing and able to strike and that our community was behind us (few people crossed our picket lines). It was effective. We set another strike date a month later when they were still not coming to the table with a reasonable agreement, this new strike would have been indefinite. They got the message and settled.
  4. This is what their website says: Our accessible staterooms are designed for guests with mobility disabilities and other disabilities that require the use of the features associated with accessible staterooms. Accessible staterooms range from 159 square feet to 298 square feet, offer a five-foot turning radius in sleeping areas, bathrooms and sitting areas for easy maneuverability. Accessible staterooms are held for people with disabilities until all other non-accessible staterooms in that category are reserved. Upon reserving an accessible stateroom, we require our guests acknowledge the need for the accessible stateroom by completing a Guest Special Needs Form. If a guest is booked in an accessible stateroom and they do not have a mobility disability or other disability that requires the use of the features that are provided in the accessible stateroom, they may be moved at any time to another non-accessible stateroom in order to accommodate a guest with a disability. Please note we investigate and take action on potential misuse of accessible staterooms where there is good cause to believe that such staterooms have been booked fraudulently.
  5. I'm definitely not spending my vacation arguing with preteens about things that don't matter. I figure we'll spend the first day exploring the ship so I'll make sure they see it. I think they may be interested when they see it in person but if they're not, I'm not going to push it.
  6. Clearly you've never planned a family reunion.
  7. So far my kids have not been interested in flow rider in the slightest. I was surprised. I think that may change when they see it in person.
  8. From everything else I've read, 12 year olds on Allure are in the teen club, but we'll see with that. One of my 12 year olds is very interested in the zipline and the climbing wall (the smaller one, of course, but she just hit 75lbs so she's good to go). My less daring child was the one hoping for laser tag. I'm sure he'll find plenty of fun things to do though.
  9. Thanks. I was suspecting that since I haven't seen references to it on Allure. I thought I would ask to set appropriate expectations early.
  10. Possibly not something you cared to look into, but my 12 year old wants to know if there is laser tag on the Allure?
  11. You can sign her up for Adventure Ocean (kids club) on the first day. They have supervised activities. Hopefully someone else can add more details on what those activities are exactly in her age group. Her age group should be 9-11 (or 9-12 on some ships). If you are going at a time when few kids are on the ship then age groups may be combined. For older kids like her, you can choose when you sign her up to allow her to sign herself out. (If you don't give her permission to sign herself out then she will stay in a supervised area until you come to get her.)
  12. My understanding is that most, if not all, Royal ships have dropped the age for the "teen" club to 12.
  13. There ought to be a very clear announcements for passengers when there is a drill. If not immediately (if the idea is to catch crew without notice and have them take it seriously), then right after the drill's conclusion.
  14. I'm pretty sure young adults don't know how to use "that other popular site" because it's "for old people"
  15. It depends on the game, but many work fine offline. Some also work well enough but some features aren't available. Try turning off the wifi on your ipads and playing your kids favorite games. That will tell you which work and whether they would be worth it to bring for dinner waits. When my kids were 4, I brought small "gifts" to give them at dinner to help with the wait. My husband wanted to go to the buffet all the time so it didn't end up mattering that much to use, but it did help the one time his whole family wanted to eat together in the main dining room. They unwrapped a toy that was interesting because it was new and played with that while we waited.
  16. Thanks! I'm going to have them add my son (who is officially registered in a room with my husband) so I can get pictures of him with his grandparents and such, but I plan to tell him to just give my room # to photographers too, to make it easier.
  17. Anyone know how many people you can get in a photo before they consider it a "group"? I'm going with a group of 12 family members and hoping to get some photos of all of us together but I'm worried they will say it isn't included because the package doesn't include groups.
  18. I found that there was always somewhere an easy walk from the port with free wi-fi/internet. So if you are just looking for an occasional check-in and don't need internet for some reason, you'll probably be fine between data and the local library or similar place.
  19. You said "we could not get to our room" which implied that you were present at the time, but I didn't want to assume that you were capable of pushing the scooter out of the way just because you weren't the one using one yourself. I'm actually a little bit confused about whose scooter was blocking whose door as it seems like someone else's scooter was blocking your door but you refer to "our room" but "her scooter" and "her room" without explaining who "she" is. But I don't understand how your wife wouldn't have noticed her scooter leaving the room without her so this seems like it is someone else' scooter that you could have just pushed out of the way.
  20. I would be inclined to switch stray scooters to push mode and move them out of the way, assuming you are able-bodied and could do so. If people have to figure out where their scooter moved to, they might be more inclined to put in their room next time.
  21. The question was: How does your plan work in different parts of the ship? If it doesn't, then why did you respond without something helpful to OP? Your suggestion doesn't have to include phones, but it should answer the question.
