  1. I've found the opposite to be true. If you give kids a limit of the total amount you are willing to spend on extras/souvenirs/etc then they make careful choices because they think of it as "their" money. If you are the Bank of Mom then they ask all the time for whatever strikes their fancy.
  2. Thanks. That's what I thought, but the previous phrasing had me hopeful.
  3. Are these separate cards? For some reason I assumed that they would get attached to an onboard account. I think it would be great if I could get my kids arcade cards to avoid them losing track of their spending in the arcade.
  4. Many hoops like that can be folded. It looks like folding and twisting those collapsible sunshades for a car window if you are familiar with those.
  5. I'm not sure the last time they went on a cruise but it's been at least 5 years. It may have been before that. Or maybe they booked excursions by phone? I just know that I was very frustrated with the website for any information and they never used it for anything before so had no idea how bad it was.
  6. My parents use a travel agent so they've never looked at the website. I'm not sure if they only book excursions on board or if their TA does that for them too. They were surprised when I mentioned how bad the RCI website is.
  7. When we took my twins on a cruise (at age 4), we brought umbrella strollers and stroller hooks. Stroller hooks will connect two single strollers to make a double. They have to be the same stroller model to work though. On the ship my kids actually pushed their own strollers. My son would have done this at 18 months too, actually, but you could have one adult for each stroller on the ship. Off the ship I hooked the strollers together. For the most part we didn't do excursions with the kids. I just walked around the touristy port areas with them so I needed something that would work as a double for when I had them by myself. The stroller hooks make an extra wide double so they only go in very wide doorways when connected, but they are pretty easy to unhook and rehook so I just pushed one kid through at a time when necessary. Another option might be a TwinGo carrier for you, assuming you don't also have any back problems, although if your kids are on the larger side that might be a lot for you to carry at once.
  8. There are locks that also alarm, but "door alarms" usually mean a type of device that makes noise when someone attempts to open the door. Those alarms don't do anything to impede the opening of the door so don't have to be disengaged to leave the room (such as to evacuate in an emergency). Since most parents with an eloper know about alarms, I'll assume that the OP needs an actual lock. Those vary in how easy they would be to disengage in an emergency but I agree with the poster who noted that the safety of a small child with no or limited understanding of danger wandering a ship is a higher priority than a fire concern, as real as that is.
  9. Good to know. My daredevil is too small (she's very small for her age and the reason I knew where to find the minimums). My child who can go on it will likely go no where near it. I'm not sure if she will make the height requirement but that's more likely than weight. She might get to 70lbs if I tell her she can go on a zipline.

This has most of the requirements: RC blog with height requirements. I can't find much on the water slide requirements so I'm just crossing my fingers they aren't as high.
