  1. You said you were hoping to hear by tomorrow and all I was saying was they don’t send the declines emails out that early. Happy sailing
  2. You won’t hear if they are declined until Friday afternoon at earliest but havens sold out so unless someone cancels your chances are slight
  3. I’m guessing that neither of you won your haven bid?
  4. The one the algorithms make the most money you get what you get you can’t decline it and hope for better. Example if you only want haven don’t bid on club balcony because you might end up with that. The bidding happens mostly the last week before sailing and it’s very fast pace how the reallocate the cabins
  5. Thank you bird for another great review, I truly appreciate you taking time out of your day to provide us with all this useful information and pictures.
  6. Good for you, I’m sure this will happen, what I find kind of funny is that say only two cabins are available and people are bidding say they both decide to upgrade outright like you did. Then the people left bidding won’t win no matter what they bid.
  7. Yes another thing about the few people that posted about live bidding it was not until like less than a month before sailing or so before it went live,
  8. This live bidding is not on every sailing just a few and so far it’s only been haven categories it’s been going on now very rarely for the last year and only seems to occur on sailings with haven categories I have never seen one for say inside to balcony. It certainly is a way for them to get more $$ on those most expensive categories
  9. I’m glad patience paid off and you received your upgrade, I thought you would in your care because of availability on that sailing. Have a great trip.
  10. I saw you got your upgrade yesterday just 2 days before sailing, I really think patience for some of the lower categories if ship is not full does pay off. What I hate to see happen is people lose patience and even though the ship is clearly not filled is they continue to up their bid, and although that does is make the algorithms adjust including waiting till later to award upgrades and also make future minimum bids possibly hire. Again, please note I’m stressing sailothat are clearly not filled and lower categories just the trend I’ve been seeing by watching and I observing and also successfully been awarded bids on my sailings. Enjoy your cruise. Happy sailing.
  11. Looking forward to another great review thank you for including us on your vacation.
  12. Algorithms is what this program is about in my opinion and to me it’s about maximum profit per bid based on the chain of bids that happen once one bid is awarded it opens up a cabin for the next lower category and so on.
  13. That’s a great idea to do the mock booking but also remember that when the upgrades happen it’s a snow ball type effect, the balconies that win havens give up their balconies etc. I was lucky enough on one of my upgrades to end up with a choice angled balconies (the ones like a triangle with like twice the space) when I got my upgrade from an inside the Friday afternoon before my Sunday sailing. Great location too, deck 13 forward with cabins above and below, near elevator. But it’s the luck of the draw you could end up right below the buffet etc. and that’s what your stuck with so if picky about location don’t bid on upgrades.
  14. You do a mock booking of that sailing, note NCL website only shows you up to 15 per subcategory while some TA sites will show more inventory. Happy sailing.
  15. One more thing even though your solo, the bid is always based on double occupancy whether it’s 1, 3, 4 per cabin so if minimum bid is 100 per person your cost to bid is 200. Happy Sailing!
  16. Enjoy your sailing, looked at inventory for oct 16th and haven 100 percent sold out, of course there are always last minute cancellations but it doesn’t looks great enjoy your week on the Spirit.
  17. Good luck, I took a peak at inventory and 11 total havens left which lead me to believe they haven’t started upgrading yet, and over 12t balconies including 71 in category BA so if your trying to upgrade from inside to balcony I think you have a great shot hopefully you’ll hear late this week but it could be next week , you’ve been luck to get awarded more than 8 business days out mine has been 3 days, 3 days, and last 2 less than 48 hours from Sunday sailing. I wish there were some havens left on my sailing from mid October but havens been firmly sold out more than a month. Happy sailing.
  18. Thanks, here is hoping we hear from some traveling this weekend about their successful upgrades, we haven’t seen many lately and I’m curious to see if now that the kids are in school, it’s hurricane etc. so kind of off season for sailing until Thanksgiving if we see some upgrades.
  19. All I was trying to say is you have a great chance. Happy sailing.
  20. Patience, it’s the key on sailings that are not sold out, they should start awarding them 2 to 5 business days before sailing. PATIENCE. Happy sailing.
  21. Yes it’s happened several times and discussed on this thread as well, if you are lucky enough to win one of those few spa cabins you call NCL and get a refund depending on credit card company it could take alittle time but you’ll get your refund. Happy Sailing
