  1. Hello @tintin2k2 and welcome to the message boards! The Cruise Critic website and message boards are both great resources for new as well as experienced cruisers, and we are so glad you found us! Please feel free to browse the Cruise Critic Community categories list for the various message board forums. I suggest you Bookmark the page or put it in your Favorites. Please read a few threads in the different forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads (aka Stickies) on the top of the first page of threads in most forums. You will find very important instructions or information there. Now that you are hooked on cruising like the rest of us 🙂, to help you find the next cruise be sure to find a good travel agent or agency that specializes in cruising as @jsn55 mentions above. Perhaps the following Cruise Critic article last updated October 24, 2023 will be helpful: Finding a Cruise Travel Agent And since you mention cruising with children, I suggest you research our Family Cruises forum. That is where you will find good family cruising advice. Also, the following Cruise Critic article last updated October 24, 2023 may be helpful too: Best Cruises for Kids: The 6 Most Kid-Friendly Cruise Lines and Cruise Ships Please remember the following portion from the Guidelines we all agreed to follow when registering for our free Cruise Critic memberships: Browse Before You Post Browse a topic first to see if your question has already been asked or answered by someone else. Also, many of the major cruise lines forums have a FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) topic that has been created by our members. Give that a try first. Browsing is your #1 best resource! Please post your messages in an appropriate topic so that you'll receive the best possible response. It is very time consuming to move misplaced messages that are in the wrong topics. Anytime you need to start a new thread on a forum, first make sure you are in the correct forum for your topic. Word your new thread title in a way to help the members know exactly the information you seek. This greatly helps the members browsing through the thread titles and if they know the information, they will reply to you. Also, it is best to limit each inquiry to only one topic such as one cruise line, one ship, one port of call, etc. and of course, on the correct forum where it will be on topic. You will get more replies that way. Be sure to mention the cruise line, ship, port or sail date in your inquiry if that sort of information will help your fellow Cruise Critic members help you. Once you book your next cruise, be sure to find your fellow Cruise Critic members sailing with you on the cruise. You will need to post on the specific Cruise Critic Roll Call thread for your cruise line, ship and sail date. Please read What is a Roll Call? Everything you Need to Know and How To: Create A New Roll Call. For more information about our famous Roll Calls, please read the Roll Calls and Our Policy Regarding Facebook and Roll Calls sections in the Guidelines. We also have the following oldie but goodie Cruise Critic article you might enjoy: 8 Reasons to Join a Cruise Critic Roll Call The specific Roll Call thread for your next cruise is the ONLY place on the Cruise Critic message boards where you and your fellow Roll Call thread members are allowed to post personal ads about sharing private tours, excursions or transportation with each other to save money. There is a "captive audience" there since you are all sailing together! Your fellow Roll Call thread members may have important information posted in your Roll Call thread. Especially those that may have sailed your line, ship or itinerary before. Also, they may have already posted share requests that may interest you. Roll Calls are for people to get to know one another before their cruise. Therefore, there will be all kinds of discussion! If a Roll Call thread for your next specific line, ship & sail date has NOT been created, please feel free to create it! Just follow the directions in How To: Create A New Roll Call. Then sit back and wait for your fellow Cruise Critic members sailing with you to join in with posts. They will appreciate you starting the Roll Call! And don't worry about any responsibilities in starting a Roll Call thread. Roll Calls belong to everyone on the Roll Call thread. There is no designated leader or owner. It does not matter who started the thread. If you ever need technical help in regard to using the Cruise Critic message board software, go to the Need Help Using the Forums? Check Here! forum. You will see a large amount of "How to..." pinned threads toward the top of the forum's first page. Also, browse through the threads in that forum looking for threads of interest. Again, you will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you. So sorry this is so long, but I sincerely hope this information will be helpful to someone new to posting on our message boards. We are so very glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! Happy sails in the future for you and yours, Host Kat
  2. CruisePlum is NOT a TA and they do NOT book cruises. From their website: If you decide to book a cruise found with their search engine, their site takes you directly to the cruise line site for booking. They are just a search engine such as our very own Cruise Critic Find a Cruise. However, Cruise Critic Find a Cruise does accept paid advertising from multiple sites. Our partners who list cruise pricing are required to provide prices for cruise only, per person, double occupancy, and are based on specific cabin types and sailing dates and may not be available for all cabin types/sailings. Taxes, fees and port expenses are not included in the price shown. Rates are in USD and valid for US and Canadian residents only. Fuel supplement may apply. When you book with one of our partners, please be sure to check their site for a full disclosure of all applicable fees as required by the U.S. Department of Transportation. For any cruises listed, Cruise Critic does not guarantee any specific rates or prices. In addition, average cruise prices are updated nightly. Furthermore, Cruise Critic makes no guarantees for availability of prices advertised on our site. Listed prices may have blackout dates, qualifications or restrictions. Cruise Critic is not responsible for content on external web sites. Therefore, removed posts in this thread regarding CruisePlum have been restored. Happy sails to all, Host Kat

  6. You don't. Regarding the Cruise Critic message board Message feature, it is available for use by Administrators & Hosts ONLY. We can use it with each other and to members. The Message feature is disabled for members and has been I think since Cruise Critic was part of AOL over twenty-five years ago. I do know for sure it was that way when I joined Cruise Critic in 2005. I suggest you use the Follow feature on any new threads you start or any other threads where you are interested in the new replies. That way you will not have to go looking to see if there are new posts because they will come looking for you as notifications. 7. Yep, that's what happens when members forget some of the Guidelines they agreed to follow when registering for membership. Travel Agent Recommendations Advertising is Not Allowed Too many folks posting any sort of venue for cruise purchase, cryptic TA name hints or asking for TA info to be emailed. Therefore, the thread had to be closed.
  8. Hello @longbranch Thank you for your new thread on the Cruise Blogs & Websites forum. However, it is off-topic there since that forum is for our members to post links to their personal travelogue-type of cruise-related blogs or websites. To help you out, I have moved your new thread to the Transatlantic, Transpacific, Repositioning & Trans-Ocean Cruises forum where it will be on topic. Hope this will be helpful and glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! Happy sails, Host Kat

  11. Please click here for the only information I have available at this time: Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle Note the following information appears on the page: Please note most Roll Calls are planning their own get-togethers during their cruises. Some at a mutually agreed place on the ship say at sail away or some other date, time & location during the cruise.

  24. Hello @SNeuman Thank you for your new thread on the Cruise Blogs & Websites forum. However, it is off-topic here since this forum is for our members to post links to their personal travelogue-type of cruise-related blogs or websites. Also, your question is not allowed on the Cruise Critic message boards. This is per the Travel Agent Recommendations and Advertising is Not Allowed sections in the Guidelines we all agreed to follow when registering for our free Cruise Critic memberships. Travel Agent Recommendations There shall be no third-party recommendation (whether positive or negative in content) of travel agencies on any forums within Cruise Critic. General discussions regarding the TYPE of AGENCY to be used to purchase a cruise will be allowed, as long as no recommendations for any source of purchase are posted. Touting of your personal cruise agent or cruise line "personal cruise consultant" (or any other venue by which you purchase a cruise) is not allowed on our message boards. Postings that contain "tell them John sent you" will be removed without notice. This means you should not ask about someone's travel agent, nor should you respond in kind. Offering to email someone your travel agent's name or info is also not allowed, nor is asking members to email you for the information. Advertising is Not Allowed Cruise Critic has strict guidelines prohibiting blatant advertising, commercial sales and solicitation posts on all of our message boards. Our Cruise Community is meant to be an exchange of advice and tips where cruisers can talk about their travels -- not a marketplace for advertising and selling services. There are thousands of cruise professionals online and if we didn't insist on a non-solicitation policy the cruise boards would be very quickly overrun with nothing but ads. Cruise Critic defines advertising as an individual or company's attempt to generate business or other commercial enterprise, either directly or indirectly, by using our Cruise Board. Solicitation includes, but is not limited to, requests to be E-mailed, the posting of phone numbers for your business, constantly mentioning that you are in the travel business, and the referring to or posting of one's own Web site address. There shall be no third-party recommendation (whether positive or negative in tone) of travel agencies on any forums within Cruise Critic. It also means you cannot post links to travel agencies, no matter what the specific reason. Cruise Critic will remove violations of the "third-party recommendation" rule without warning. Additional posts will result in permanent suspension of your posting privileges. Cruise Critic will remove violations of the "third-party recommendation" guideline without warning. Additional posts may result in permanent suspension of your posting privileges. There are travel agents that are members. 25. Hello @thewaterisblue Thank you for your new thread on the Cruise Blogs & Websites forum. However, it is off-topic there since that forum is for our members to post links to their personal travelogue-type of cruise-related blogs or websites. To help you out, I have moved your new thread to the Florida Departures forum where it will be on topic. Hope this will be helpful and glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! Happy sails, Host Kat
