  1. on my reservation BAC website is letting us choose seats and it says no fee. Only flight I can see configuration for is first flight. Can’t proceed without choosing seats. I was surprised we are being given the option as we have no status with BA.
  2. We received our flight assignments from NCL and aside from the short time between flights in Heathrow they aren't bad. We're booked on same flights as our traveling companions so that's a plus. Flight info as follows Portland, Oregon to Venice, Italy BA 266 Economy BA PORTLAND (PDX) 04/12/23 7:10pm LONDON, HEATHROW (LHR) 04/13/23 12:35pm BA 468 Economy BA LONDON, HEATHROW (LHR) 04/13/23 2:15pm VENICE (VCE) 04/13/23 5:35pm Lisbon, Portugal to Portland, Oregon BA 501 Economy BA LISBON (LIS) 05/02/23 11:05am LONDON, HEATHROW (LHR) 05/02/23 1:55pm BA 267 Economy BA LONDON, HEATHROW (LHR) 05/02/23 3:30pm PORTLAND (PDX) 05/02/23 5:20pm BA 266 out of Portland is often delayed which concerns me about making the next flight. Although we're allowed a checked bag we're going to do carry on only. Next challenge I would love help on is picking seats .... BA 266 is Boeing 777. The economy seat configuration shows 40 rows with 3, 4, 3 in rows 25 -35. Total of 40 rows in economy, all but one of the two seaters are booked. We need to be able to put a bag under seat in front of us and I can't tell which seats have equipment under them blocking access. Seat guru is no help because it doesn't show configuration BA is showing me. Can't look at the other flights for seating until I choose for first flight ........ arghh thank you in advance Karen
  3. There are other good videos on YT. Tall Danny has one but I don't post his videos on CC because of the travel agency advertising. He does do good videos so worth watching. Have a wonderful cruise. It's been quite a few years since we were on the Spirit and I'd love to experience her refurbishment. We enjoy the smaller ships as well as the newer larger ones.
  4. The Spirit was totally refurbished. There are some YouTube videos of her post refurbishment and I think NCL did a great job. Here is YT video posted by Chris Frame to get you started.
  5. very interesting ...... offers are not the same although they link to the same terms and conditions The CruiseNext Page offer is better
  6. Here's the link to all the current NCL promo Terms & Conditions https://www.ncl.com/about/terms-and-conditions/promotions
  7. From the Terms and Conditions for the current Free At Seas Offers on NCL main page CRUISENEXT DOUBLEUP! OFFER Booking Window: January 13th – February 6th, 2023 11:59pm EST Offer Details: Book a Balcony or above stateroom on any sailing booked at least 4 months in advance and apply TWO CruiseNext, CruiseNext Haven or CruiseNext Lite deposits Offer valid for sailings beginning in 2023 and forward: Guests must book at least 6-months prior to sailing for any sailing in 2023 and forward Occasionally they offer book any stateroom instead of balcony or above and sometimes also offer for any sailing. When they offer combo of both that's the best 🙂
  8. Here are the first two sentences on the footnotes for the NCLH Shareholder Benefit Offer "Credit is applied on a per stateroom/suite basis. There can only be one credit per shareholder reservation on any one sailing. If you are requesting shareholder onboard credit for two or more separate staterooms/suites and shares are held jointly, a minimum of 100 shares per stateroom/suite booked must be held."
  9. Both offers appear on our April 15, 2023 NCL Star cruise.
  10. You can search Norwegian Escape Deck 9 Balcony on YouTube .... some are shown there. For long videos I just drag to part where they're showing the balcony . You can also try a google search of your actual stateroom number. If you give us a stateroom number range we might be able to assist better.
  11. They did for a while have a charge for travel-with but it was not for passengers booked in the same stateroom
  12. This is the section from the T&C's linked above All guests booked within a singular reservation will be booked on the same flight. Reservations must be booked, and the promotion must be added no less than 75 days prior to sailing to qualify for this promotion. A non-refundable fee of $100 per person applies to all guests in the stateroom, who are 2 years or older. I've read the T&C's before and never saw the "A non-refundable fee of $100 per person applies to all guests in the stateroom, who are 2 years or older" wording What does this mean ? We are booked on 15 day NCL Star Trieste to Lisbon cruise in April. We purchased the NCL air promo and paid the quoted air price. There was no mention of $200 charge to fly in same plane. We've had 20 plus cruises on NCL and never used the air and I'm becoming extremely concerned after reading some of the horror stories. We did do two day deviation on both ends but would like to enjoy our two days for sight seeing. Karen
  13. I love the Sun and Bliss and have sailed on both of them more than once and will do so again. For the better Alaska itinerary I'd choose the Sun in a heartbeat. Spirit is also sailing Alaska this year .... smaller ship with much smaller staterooms but also beautifully renovated. Go to YouTube and search NCL Sun Tour. One of the first options is a 39.26 minute very comprehensive video done by Danny approximately 3 months ago. He also very recently posted videos of various stateroom categories. The Sun is a comfortable classic beauty with good sized staterooms, the Great Outdoors on the stern and a forward facing Observation Lounge with access to a deck outside of it. There are lots of videos on the Bliss. My favorite things on the Bliss are the wonderful Observation Lounge, the promenade deck, the entertainment, the many restaurant choices.
  14. That is what I was thinking about doing .... the matrix ita suggestion in post #2 is a place to start. I wouldn't cancel the NCL air unless I found acceptable flights that we can afford. I know happy people don't usually come and tell CC so maybe I'm worrying for nothing but there have been some scary posts lately. At least we did do the two day deviation but we want to enjoy Venice so hopefully will really have two nights there.
  15. Unfortunately that is how NCL air on their usual promo buy one get one free works ..... you have no choice in what flight you get and you don't usually hear until somewhere around 45 days before flight I've learned you usually get worst seats on worst flight, often are not seated together and unless in same stateroom often not on same flights NCL does have a premium air department. I'm not sure how it works but that isn't what we purchased. We were originally booked on a different NCL ship on 15 day transatlantic followed by 7 day med cruise but switched day final payment was due on the T/A to the 15 day Trieste to Lisbon cruise. Final payment was due date we switched.
  16. Mine too and the upgrade promos are all back.
  17. We are booked on the Norwegian Star for 15 night cruise commencing April 15, 2023 from Trieste, Italy to Lisbon, Portugal. We've cruised with NCL 23 times and never used their air. For this cruise we did purchase the air for $1,400 for the two of us. We are 74 and 76 and have only been to Europe once for a transatlantic cruise from Copenhagen to New York a few years ago on Princess. Princess air handling was great, I chose the flights on Princess website and everything worked out wonderfully. The more I read about NCL air on the Norwegian Cruise Line board (and here) the more worried I get. We did do two day deviation on either end of the cruise and current plan is fly to Venice, stay two nights in Venice, take the train to Trieste, do the cruise, spend two nights in LIsbon and then fly home. We have hotel/apartment rooms booked. Our home airport is PDX (Portland, Oregon). We have not been provided any flight information by NCL and I'm guessing it may be another month. I believe right now we are in the 50% penalty if we cancel the NCL air. Our best friends forever are also booked on the cruise and also took NCL air. We are sharing lodging at both ends of the cruise. It is looking doubtful that we will all be booked on the same aircraft. Our friends may keep the NCL air to save money. All of our cruises have been easy to do air. Caribbean from the US, Alaska, Pacific Coastals and a wonderful Boston to New Orleans. Can you give a worried old lady an idea where to start with air for this cruise if we book it ourselves. Thank you very much. Karen
  18. Gosh, they added 3 Cagney's steaks for entrees to main dining room menu for costs of $20, $15 and $10. Yes, far less expensive than paying to eat in Cagney's but how about having some good food options included in the basic cruise fare.
  19. When you are signed in to your NCL account pull up your cruise and choose Vacation Summary Underneath the Included Items there are two orange buttons. One says Print Booked Items. Click on that button and see if your OBC shows up there.
  20. Using NCL Star April 15, 2023 option (Not Signed In to NCL) shown in post #9 - after selecting Balcony from the three balcony options the NCL system does not assign a cabin so there is no link to click on to pick another room. The top of the page shows balcony guarantee, shows the price and asks for the guest information (name, dob, phone number and email address) and offers the NCL insurance options. There is a Continue Box at the bottom of the page which I'm guessing would bring you to payment page.
  21. Sometimes there are many available staterooms in a category (example BA balcony) but NCL website will only show a three category choices such as Aft Facing Balcony, Balcony, Sailaway Balcony. If you choose the aft facing balcony you can take their offered stateroom or click choose a different stateroom. If you click on the Balcony it comes up Guarantee Stateroom where you could be assigned a balcony on any deck and in any location. There is no option to click on for choose a different stateroom. Ditto for the Sailaway Balcony option. I am also particular about my stateroom location. When I'm researching a cruise I use a couple travel agency sites, one in particular who shows all available staterooms in a category, not the usual 15 NCL used to show. I pick out a stateroom that works for me, then call my PCC and have him check to be sure it is available. I have a backup choice if needed. Example Norwegian Star April 15, 2023. There are 100 BA balconies available, 23 on deck 10 and 77 on deck 9. These do not appear on NCL website which has the BA's lumped into the Balcony option where you get any balcony they assign you. Once I'm booked unless I'm in love with the stateroom I chose I keep an eye on the sailing to see if a better location stateroom in the same category opens up. My PCC has no problem in changing the stateroom location when requested. It was disheartening to see that NCL can take away your stateroom and give you something else but it appears that rarely happens so not going to stress over it. So far my luck has been good.
  22. You won't have a noise issue except perhaps from hallway traffic or raising and lowering of the lifeboats for tendering in any of the Star obstructed staterooms. Some have two narrow strip windows that are very obstructed. Some of the staterooms you listed are handicap staterooms. I like the layout of the sideways oceanviews. 8116 is one and here is a CC thread with information on 8116 posted by don't-use-real-name. Here is a link to CruiseDeckPlans deck-drag page for the Star. You can see that O'Sheehan's is on the same deck as the obstructed oceanviews but separated enough for noise protection and Bliss Ultra Lounge is not underneath any of these staterooms. Use the elevators on the decks as your line up guide. https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/dragdeck.php?ship=Norwegian-Star&zoom=1
  23. Our DSC of $480 comes and goes as showing due by December 16th. Our various Upgrade offers have all disappeared except for $735 pp for Free At Sea Pl
  24. Question on the platinum dinner voucher at Cagney's. Current Latitudes Reward description for Platinum and above states "Benefit is available on sailings 5 days or longer, and entitles each guest to one appetizer, one entrée and one dessert of choice. Entrée items up to $35 are covered. For items over this amount, an upcharge will be added to your onboard account" Is this being enforced? If you didn't want any of the appetizers could you substitute soup or salad? If you wanted soup or salad in addition to the appetizer would there now be a charge? Thanks so much for your postings. Glad the internet is working for you.
