  1. We are platinum on Carnival so I know what to expect. And having flown Spirit before, Carnival is not that bad.
  2. And I also feel your pain because my husband doesn't drink much so Cheers is pretty much not worth it for us. Plus, it seems like every time I book Cheers I inevitably end up sick at least one or two days and then have to try to play "catch up" to make Cheers worth it.
  3. I think the only way to do this is if you are traveling with a minor. You book a minor in the room with you and book non-drinker in another room. Carnival doesn't care where you sleep and you can change rooms/keys once you are all on board by going to guest services. But, if you are not traveling with a minor, you are out-of-luck.
  4. I don't know about with respect to New Zealand but I have definitely seen people disembark not at the final destination on Europe cruises. With that said, New Zealand has some unusual laws so I think you need to check out their laws ahead of time and make sure that you can even do this. I don't think Carnival would be the issue...I think it would be NZ. You may even need a Visa. I know I looked into stopping over in NZ in 2022ish on the way to Australia (we ended up not going) and there was all sorts of rules and regulations, but it may have been due to Covid. I also once watched several hours of a show about NZ border control and they were super strict Lots of people denied entry. Very entertaining show, too. One woman tried to sneak her cat into the country and the woman got sent back to the US, fined, and the cat got put down. Another little girl had a home taxidermied road kill animal and they took it from her to make sure it wasn't an endangered species. She ended up getting it back, but they had to bring in some specialist to determine if it was a certain species of whatever type of animal it was before they gave it back to her. It was the funniest looking thing I had ever seen. The girl had given it buttons for eyes and put a dress on it. It was a little Australian girl. The border control also said that it wasn't the first time she had bought home taxidermied items through NZ.
  5. I have tried this and it didn't seem to work for me. I am not in their targeted demographic. Although, apparently my elderly mother is. Only I can never get her to cruise even though she has amazing offers! Even when we book her a cruise, half the time she ends up sick or hurt and can't go.
  6. I wish I had those deals! I would book them all.
  7. My favorite is the aft view and aft corner on deck 4 because they are covered. Deck 8 may be covered, too...not sure. We had an aft balcony connected to the Vista suite on the Pride in 2022 and will have the same cabins on the Legend in May/June 2024 on a cruise. The vista suite is really big on this class of ship. IMO, it is the best suite on any ship other than Captain's suites or the aft corner balcony on Mardi Gras/Celebration/Jubilee. Except for floor 5, the Vista suites have separate living rooms and bedrooms which is really nice. Reason I like them: 1. Tends to be quieter at the back of the boat. There is very little through traffic. 2. You are also close to the MDR, the buffet and the serenity (just an elevator ride or up or down a couple of floors) since all are located towards the rear of the ship. 3. Love the view. You can see both sides of the horizon: sunrise and sunset. You can see fully where you have come from and not only "one side" if you are doing scenic cruising. I also find it relaxing to sit and watch the wake behind the boat. 4. On some decks, you are near the laundry room. 5. They are significantly deeper than a regular balcony...enough so that I think you can put a lounger on them.
  8. @jimbo5544 Do you find that Greenland is different enough from Iceland to warrant cruising to it?
  9. Is this a common thing where guests sleep with cruise workers? One night at the buffet, I was sitting near four (maybe?) officers while I was eating and one of the younger guys was talking about some guest hitting in him and that he could have slept with her had he wanted to. The thing I found funny about it is we were on the Pride in Europe and there weren't too many people on that boat who would have been age appropriate for this young man...
  10. Carnival said "they are sure he didn't go overboard"??? I mean...how can they be sure? It was the next day before anyone realized that the guy from Louisiana who went overboard (and was rescued) was missing. Clearly, Carnival didn't notice he went in the water. The one thing I do think is interesting is that he would have gone overboard when they were relatively close to being in port according to the time line...
  11. Yes. You can do that. You will just have to click the complete later button.
  12. Someone once said they sell them on ebay, but even if you have one, you can't buy a drink because your sail and sign card would show you shouldn't be there.
  13. I think he could have gotten off the ship without notice. Someone on another forum suggested he was trying to duck out of child support and criminal charges. Heck, once the boat is in port, you could jump off one of the lower decks and swim to shore. You could definitely jump off of a Cove balcony and not be injured. I have jumped out of trees/off of rocks at lakes higher than Deck 2. I know he had an inside cabin, but when people are checking out, they sometimes leave doors open. And some of the boats have public decks on like deck 4. I mean, most likely he committed suicide, but stranger things have happened. Like the guy from Louisiana who fell off a Carnival ship and was found after a couple of days floating in the gulf recently.
  14. So might Carnival do a Fjords cruise in 2025?
  15. Maybe he decided to stow away and go on another cruise. He could sleep on the deck and eat at the buffet.
  16. We have A01 boarding group (woohoo) and are sailing in a Havana aft balcony on the Vista on Sept 23. I have sailed in the Havana are on the Vista twice before, but both times we boarded much later as we weren't Platinum at the time. Are the spas/pool open to swim in at, say, noon on sail away day? Or do they take that time to clean it? Is the bar open and staffed?
  17. Unfortunately, my kids are in school then. I was looking for something during the summer.
  18. I found a 36-day WC segment going from Sydney to Rome in summer 2025 that had a couple of rooms available. I took a couple of weeks to research the internet and talk my husband and kids into it. (Husband will have to work from on board, but the Crown Princess has star link.) I finally got every one on board, go to book it and now it is showing sold out! There was literally availability less than a week ago. Is there a way to get on an email list to find out if availability comes open? (In other words, other than checking the website every day...) I DM'd princess cruise rep on the Princess website and that was pointless. No help. After 20 minutes, they just told me the cruise was full.
  19. IDK. Someone above said that HAL offered OBC for AARP members.
  20. Does Carnival offer an AARP OBC? Also, @Tom-n-Cheryl not sure you are interested in MSC, but they offer 10 percent off to medical professionals.
  21. Anyone here when Crown Princess might get it? Trying to talk my husband into doing a 36 day segment of the world cruise, but he has to be able to have really good internet.
  22. And I hope no one removes tips over this. They are hurting the wrong people if they do this. The crew had nothing to do with this.
