  1. Indeed and it looks as if we are definitely in the right place this week. Forecast 25 for Wednesday! Much gardening and plant buying being done at the moment after returning from an MSC cruise last Tuesday. The Chablis sounds nice too. I made myself a Pimms yesterday! 🍹
  2. Was that wait for a table for two? On Azura earlier this year you could just turn up at the dining room and ask to share a table. There was never a wait (at least to get in) although sometimes a while before any food arrived!
  3. Hope you have a lovely time. I too will be very interested to read your thoughts - I was on Britannia in 2018 and loved it. Booked again for January and thinking about September as well. A bit concerned about recent comments so hope yours are good!
  4. Thanks - I wasnt sure you would still be following that one.
  5. Hi - I know you are not posting on the Arvia thread you started but can you tell me how easy it is/was to travel solo? Are there solo meet ups etc like on the smaller ships? Seems like it might be difficult on one’s own on such a big ship. I’d be glad to hear from anyone else as well who has done Arvia or Iona solo as I am tempted by a cruise in September.
  6. We also did that cruise on Diamond Princess and remember the fantastic send offs from the locals at the ports. The Peace Park was very moving and I seem to recall we also visited the gardens where Madame Butterfly was staged.
  7. Have a great trip - Japan is so interesting. I am in Athens ready to board MSC Musica this afternoon with my daughter (her first cruise). Good trips to those boarding in Southampton today too! 🛳️😎
  8. Wowzz - your Mum is inspiring! At 20 years her junior, I certainly creak a bit after a day’s gardening now!
  9. On the subject of absent friends - haven’t heard anything from the Arvia fan for a few weeks - I think his name is Interestedcruisefan. Still no news of Kalos?
  10. On Azura in February you could choose go to either of the two freedom dining restaurants.
  11. On Azura in February two Welsh brothers Richard and Adam (they were originally on Britains Got Talent I think) did two shows. They were absolutely fabulous - the songs they sang from Les Mis were outstanding - has anyone else heard them?
  12. I think the best ribeye steak I’ve found by a country mile is the 36 day dry aged (I’m pretty sure Scottish) found in Aldi or Lidl - the Lidl one us 20 or 25 grams heavier. Delicious!
  13. It’s at least a two year wait up here. Hope all goes well for you. I was talking to a lady last week when we were both waiting for a cataract operation (done successfully albeit privately) who had had her two hip replacements done on the same day last year (NHS)!
  14. I wouldn’t worry about putting it off for while Graham - the NHS waiting list will do that for you!
  15. Sorry - but a lack if Brussels sprouts on board would be a very good reason for me to book! 😀
  16. Glad you are enjoying Scotland and the weather isn’t too shabby either this week (for us)! Stayed at Turnberry Hotel once many years ago (pre Trump ownership) for a birthday treat. Enjoy Torridon - I believe it is fabulous.
  17. Interesting thread. On our first (of many) cruises in 1997 we were told the average cruiser was “well bred, well fed and nearly dead”. thank goodness things are different now!
  18. Thanks for your prompt reply. It will be my first time on MSC but have cruised with many other lines. Looks like the drinks passage is a no brainier though!
  19. Hi - I too am enjoying following you along. I am on Musica next month with my daughter and trying to work out if a drinks package will be worthwhile for us. When purchasing drinks without having a package is a 15% service charge added? I can’t seem to get a clear answer on this and hope you can help. Enjoy the remainder of your cruise.
