  1. What is Partial View on deck 6 verandas on the Eclipse? I am trying to understand what is blocking the view. Is it life boats? How bad are the views blocked? Thank you for any assistance you can give.

    Gratuities

To me it matters. If they don’t get to keep the whole amount I won’t bother leaving anything.

    Gratuities

We usually leave a small cash tip to the waiter and a separate cash tip to his helper in the MDR. Not big money but just to acknowledge the usually excellent service we get. Do you know if they get to keep it or if it is distributed?
  4. This is a good summary. We liked sitting in Cellar Masters and listening to classical music, it is in the daily planner. It is not a large ship. just walk around each deck to see what is there. Also, check the daily planner.
  5. I wouldn't book Celebrity retreat. I would book a luxury line. I don't like huge ships.
  6. Yes. Small things. Sweet, sour, chocolate, fatty (cheese), etc. To see how the taste of the food affects the taste of the wine. Eg, red with chocolate, etc. If you have never been to this type of wine tasting before it can be instructive if you have been before not sure if you will learn anything new.
  7. We did both on our last cruise on Constellation last year. We enjoyed both. How good the food pairing one is depends on who is running it. The world wine tour has multiple stations, so it is less dependent on the individual presenters. The wines were OK on each event, however not top of the line. It really depends on what you want to get out of the event. The way they ran the world wine tour lets you taste a fairly large number of wines and tends to be a fun event, not very serious. They set up a few (3 or 4) stations with maybe 4 wines each and you walk around and taste samples of each wine. If I remember correctly, they have a nice number of snacks to eat while you are tasting the wines. Not sure how they are running the event these days. The food pairing event was a bit more serious. You sit down at tables and there are maybe 4 or so wines and a small plate with different foods. The instructor then has you pair each wine with a different food to see how the food and wine interact. Interesting if you have never done it before.
  8. How did you pay for the fort? This the one place we really want to go and don't want to have to get pesos. Also, is there a reason you used Uber instead of getting a taxi from the port to the fort? Finally, how long did you spend at the fort?
  9. That is because they are repositioning cruises.
  10. Thinking of going to the public beach for a few hours. Are there shuttles and/or taxis that regularly go from the port area to the beach and back? If it matters we will be on Celebrity at the end of the month.
  11. Not a big deal however if you are in port they might also charge tax on the price difference. Just like Royal.
  12. I always thought it was 90 days before sailing on Celebrity? Other cruise lines may vary.
  13. Yes it is best if the friend has her own login. This way if she wants to book something for herself (eg, at the spa) or an excursion, etc. she can do it herself. Also, she is automatically linked to your reservation through the cruise reservation number. She should also sign up for the Captains Club.
  14. Did you book directly with Celebrity or a TA? Call whoever you booked through, there is a small chance they might extend the due date slightly. If you don't call I think the computers automatically cancel the reservation and you lose your deposit.
  15. They call it Chic because some people want an excuse to dress up, it also lets the ship photographers set up backgrounds and try to sell photos. Basically on Celebrity you can dress how you like. I think Cunard might be the only cruise line left that even tries to have a real dress code.
  16. Are you past final payment date? Did you buy refundable or non-refundable?
  17. Has the norovirus gone away? We board for the next cruise.
  18. Celebrity agents are often wrong!!!!!!!!!!
  19. What about Constellation?
  20. For historical reasons I think Cunard may have predated them all. I am not sure if they do this on the high end cruise lines.
