  1. It is. The chef owner is really passionate about what he serves and it shows.
  2. I know you mentioned staying on the ship in San Juan, but if you can get a reservation at Marmalade on Calle Forteleza you will not regret it: https://www.marmaladepr.com/ We may have booked a cruise once because we were able to dine there 😉.
  3. Yes, just received the same message. Our sail date is in May 🙄
  4. We’re sailing 6/18 out of NYC. While it’s not the most exciting itinerary I’m looking forward to checking out MSC’s private island. We also really enjoy sea days, which will give us more time to enjoy the ship.
  5. I’m another Celebrity Retreat person trying MSC based on @GenerationX’s side by side along with the latest pricing of Retreat cabins. We booked MSC Meraviglia out of NYC , so no airfare needed for us, in a YC deluxe suite. I’ve only sailed Celebrity and Royal, so could only use the status on those to match on MSC ( Elite and D+). I took a screenshot, filled out the online form, and received a response in less than 24 hours matching my status to Gold on MSC. Though I can’t review as well as @Jim_Iain, @GenerationX and others on this board I plan on doing a comparison on the MSC board. I’ve received so much great information here, hoping to do the same for someone else.
  6. @GenerationX So thanks to you we booked our first MSC cruise 😂. We’re doing YC on the Meraviglia out of NYC this June. Looking forward to your next live review!
  7. Safe travels Charla! Thank you again for this excellent side by side review. I love your love of life. Hope to sail again with you sometime, but until then will enjoy reading about your journeys.
  8. Charla you should be getting a free cruise from MSC. I hadn’t considered sailing on their ships but now find myself searching for MSC cruises 😂. Thank you once again for taking us along on your travels!
  9. Yes, there is a bar in the Retreat. The sun deck doesn’t have a bar set up. Instead there are servers that will bring you what you want delivered to your lounge chair or the tables set up for lunch.
  10. Thank you for your reviews. Because of you I booked the Eclipse for it’s 2024 Greenland/Iceland itinerary, and now it looks like I need to add the Mexican Riviera 😂.
  11. We like to do shorter cruises if we want to add a land based vacation. We’re doing a 4 nighter on the Mariner next May, adding a few days prior near Cape Canaveral and a few days post cruise near Disney Springs.
  12. Looking forward to this! We’re on the Mariner next May after numerous cancellations as well. The last time we were on Mariner we took our two younger kids during their April school vacation week (they are both in their 30s now 😳).
  13. It was excellent. There was a least one more held that week. We dined at Tuscan the last night of the cruise and Chef’s Table was taking place.
  14. Loving this review and your fashions. Can you tell me where you got the buffalo plaid dress? Thank you for the very detailed reviews of the meals. I have family members and friends I travel with with severe food allergies and it’s so helpful to know what dining options there are.
  15. You’re welcome! Sorry, we dined with her and her husband for the Veuve Cliquot dinner, not the Chef’s Table. Both well worth it btw.
  16. Go into your settings, then Display and Brightness. Scroll down and you will see Auto-lock setting. You can adjust the time here (just remember to change it back as it will use up battery quickly!). This is for iPhone, android might be slightly different.
  17. Sorry, can’t help with the shows as we didn’t attend any. There’s a great review of my sailing by Gen X (including review of Chef’s Table 👍). I’m pretty sure we were there for 2+ hours.
  18. Just sailed the Summit on 7/24. I booked the Chef’s table ahead of time through the shoreside concierge, and once onboard it showed up on my calendar as noon on embarkation day. It did take place on night 1 in Tuscan.
  19. Thank you all! I’m leaning towards staying with a CS. I can definitely picture my husband flashing people unintentionally in the shower.
  20. We’ve sailed in a CS twice on the Reflection and looking to sail the ship again. I’m intrigued by the Signature Suite. Can anyone give some pros and cons? This will be a Caribbean sailing, and we will most likely be booking some dinners not included with specialty dining.
  21. We spent a good deal of time enjoying our balcony every afternoon, much quieter than the pool deck and we had everything we needed close by (and no worries about chair hogs). Schedule your favorite snacks to be delivered in the afternoon and enjoy 🍾
