Right, only if outside tenders are available. The question is why they did not equip these ships with their own useable tenders.
-
It was supposed to be ready for 2023. That obviously did not work out. 😒 It does seem odd that the older NCL ship could tender there. Maybe part of it is the size of the ship. On my cruise the captain said there were too many passengers to tender.
-
Yup, it should be obvious including being understood by the person initiating the chat. But possibly for the employee at the other end of the chat, it was not something on their script.
-
For our Prima cruise this summer, the website was showing tender for Geiranger and dock for Isafjordur. Not once did the Prima dock in Isafjordur (nor tender), but we did just walk off at Geiranger. I guess if tendering was required, we would just have had another skipped port. 😒

How about the elementary school children? Give them a crack at it. -
Isn't it on your cruise card? OOPS, oh wait, you have a medallion, not a cruise card. 🤣🤦♂️

How frequent are missed Ports of Call?
ontheweb replied to 12college's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
Oceana cruise line is owned by NCL. If you go to the NCL boards you will read that Norwegian misses more ports than any other line. On our NCL cruise this past summer we missed 2 ports, Zeebrugges (for Brugge) and Isafjordur which was missed on every single cruise this past summer by the NCL Prima. -
Just got screwed out of nearly $500 can.

DW and I were very happy to be seated apart the one time we were apart on an airplane. Our cruise was 2 days late getting to Fort Lauderdale due to a hurricane. Obviously our original plane trip back to JFK was not happening. We got the last 2 standby seats on the first flight back after we checked in at the airport. We survived. -
Let us hope it was just meant "tongue in cheek". If it was an emoji might have conveyed that. Just holding up the line to be a smartass is just not right.

Hello all. So I went to the Stamford CT state passport agency. 2 days and I have passports in hand!!!! so relieved. Who says the Government can move fast?! In any case just for giggles I’m going to ask at the dock if I can board with just my license. See how that goes as a little test. I so hope that @puckliny who posted that they were going to do this notes the THANK YOU reaction that @Ferry_Watcher, who actually does work at check in for cruises gave to my post asking why you would do this as it only holds up the line.

Right that is what we had to do on our river cruise in the Netherlands and Belgium. It surprised us as here in the US, we had long since done our spring forward. (Just getting to this thread and did not notice the date posted at first, and was about to write it was 2 weeks earlier where we were in the EU.) 🤦♂️
-
Why are you going to do that? To hold up the line? Please don't waste their time.

Can a ship keep you on board until you pay the bill?

Laughing again, I just looked at the reactions to my posts and see I posted basically the same thing back in July of 2022. -

HA! HA! In 1997, we did a land vacation at an AI in Jamaica for our 20th anniversary. There was a small tax to depart. The lady at the airport in front of us said she had spent all her money and could not pay the tax. She also said please make me stay. They did not. -
How frequent are missed Ports of Call?
ontheweb replied to 12college's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
We had never missed a port (unless you count getting to Fort Lauderdale 2 days late because of a hurricane or an entire cruise cancelled due to Covid). Then we went on the NCL Prima last summer, London (Southampton) to Reykjavik, and missed 2 ports. The ports were Zebrugges for Brugge for according to them an extremely low tide and Isafjordur, Iceland that they missed on every single one of their cruises because the dock was not finished and they said the ship's lifeboats were not certified to be used as tenders. -
WOW! You showed incredible patience reading through 23 pages! And it looks like today is the 3 year anniversary of the start of this thread.

The author again is Phillip Norman. Let me give you all of the titles. John Lennon: The Life Paul McCartney: The Biography George Harrison: The Reluctant Beatle (the one I am reading now) There are also biographies by him of Eric Clapton. Elton John, and Mick Jagger. Also, there are books about the Beatles.

Please help. Have questions for Mediterranean cruise
ontheweb replied to espa99999's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
Also, you can find the roll call for your cruise and see if there are any fellow passengers who have booked private tours and are looking for others to join. -
Isn't everyone a big Beatles' fan? I am actually at the moment reading a biography of George Harrison, George Harrison The Reluctant Beatle by Phillip Norman. It is quite interesting. No, we never rebooked the cruise. We did get to see some Norwegian fjords this past summer on an NCL Prima cruise, London (Southampton) to Reykjavik.
