  1. You can always call Casino Royale and speak to them to confirm a refund is in process. If it isn't they will process it subsequently.
  2. I'm sorry you didn't have a good time on your Hawaii cruise but I'll have to push back a little and disagree about seeing Hawaii via cruiseship. We've done several cruises to see Hawaii either as a RT or as a TP en- route to Australia. Carnival RT Hawaii visits 4 islands and you're usually there long enough to rent a car so you can see lots of things on your own. I've seen Hawaii both as cruises and a land trip. Pre 9/11 it was easy-peasy flying intra-islands but now it's a lot more hassle. My sense is your issue is less about Hawaii and more about the amount of seadays. That's a totally different conversation, but one that is totally valid and actually quite important. Some people underestimate their ability to be on a ship with lots of seadays.
  3. Thanks. So it sounds like nothing different from the buffet, just different location and type of venue.
  4. What types of food are served at the complementary food trucks?
  5. It's funny who polarizing the Quantum Class ships can be, you either love them or hate them. Besides the promenade being a bit too narrow which causes congestion at peak times for me that's about the only flaw to the ship's design.
  6. Again, nothing that doesn't happen in a comedy show or actually any show. This reminds me of a story awhile ago,and I forget which cruiseline but it's not germaine to the story, where we were at a headliner show in the main theater. It's was an older gentleman singer/entertainer who of course had been on Broadway many moons ago. In between sets he would talk about his past and then also interact with the passengers. He came upon a guy in the audience who looked like he would have rather been anywhere but there, and of course he was chosen by the headliner for interaction. You can probably guess where this is going. No matter what the singer said the passenger has no interest in participating, which in turn infuriated the singer who wouldn't let it go. It was frankly embarrassing to see the singer go on for probably 10 minutes trying to get this guy to interact with him. The singer was visibly annoyed and at this point sweating. He finally left the guy only to return to him after a song set. It was something I have never witnessed before. It was obvious that the singer thought himself as so charming and friendly that he didn't understand why the passenger didn't want to intact with him. I will concede Perry Grant isn't for everyone. But he is obviously entertaining for lots of people. As many have said his schtick is meant for a small piano bar and it's been reviewed many times when his show is moved to a larger main theater it gets lost in translation. If you don't like him, don't go. But it isn't necessary to berate people who do. I don't go to The Quest anymore because despite always different passengers it's the same exact thing. I don't find grown men wearing a women's bra parading around the room funny anymore. But if you do,go ahead and enjoy it,it's your cruise!
  7. Are you saying you've never attended a comedy show where the majority of the comic's act is to pick on audience members?
  8. You may not like it but insult comedy is not the sole perview of Perry Grant. https://www.ranker.com/list/best-insult-comedians/ranker-comedy
  9. It's not much different than many of the comedians doing their 'adult' shows. And of course we have The Quest adult scavenger hunt that's can be just as risque with bawdily humor. The elephant in the room is much of his show and his persona is about the old-fashioned Gay humor similar to Wayland Flowers and Madame and Peter Allan. His humor isn't anything different than something you'd hear on Golden Girls, Monty Python, Benny Hill.
  10. Yes,they will provide bar soap and facial tissues if requested. Also note they don't provide body lotion either.
  11. Just to expand on the previous information, which is all correct, there are various casino comp offers some which are guarantee cabin offers where you actual cabin is assigned at a later date and some which you can pick your actual cabin. The $200 deposit is returned as onboard credit which can be used for everything, gratuities, onboard purchases, and casino cash advances via the slot machines. When you call and reserve the casino department will let you know which chain offer it is. It's always helpful to have the ship's deck plans at hand so you can actually see where the cabin is when you're calling Carnival to book your offer.
  12. Yes all drinks without alcohol at Cafe Al Bacio are complementary and unlimited for Elite+ and higher status. The same for the cafe in the buffet on E-Class ships. Note that the Segundo Al Bacio does not have premium teas, only espresso based drinks.
  13. I'm a little confused with what's offered when. The implication on port days is break fast only and no lunch? What if you stay on the ship?
  14. If it was fully comped you'll get the Port fees and taxes refunded.
  15. Are we allowed to dropoff carry-on luggage into room?
  16. That's very funny. Just to be clear, it's not so much about hoarding but Asian cultures enjoy eating lots and lots of fruit. In Asian cultures showing outwardly love and affection is not generally done. One way a mom may demonstrate love to her children is to bring them a plate of peeled and/or sectioned fruit. Asians generally prefer fruit to be peeled and cut,so for example, one doesn't eat a whole apple or pear by biting into a whole one; instead the skins would be peeled and the apple or pear cut up into little pieces. A mom that presents that to her children is showing love, care, and affection. https://tastecooking.com/bowl-cut-fruits-asian-moms-say-love/ Edit: I'm 62 and my mom is 86 and when I go visit my parents my mom still does this for me.
  17. I knew that, but as an Asian-American I had no issues talking about my own peoples. My parents do exactly that.
  18. The only demographic i know that would hoard fruit are Asians. It's very specific cultural thing for Asians from a wide variety of countries. Prefered choice of beverages are Orange Juice, hot water (Chinese). Shellfish of all types are also hoarded.
  19. Looking more into your situation, I see that Virgin is going to be more right off the bat despite having some more inclusives. I see why you had originally considered the Celebrity Silhouette, The prices are actually quite competitive for a Celebrity cruise. But given your concerns, I think NCL is the way to go. I was looking at the Escape which is a 5 nt cruise 1/6-11 and It's probably the best deal at under $2K for a balcony with drinks, a specialty restaurant meal, and gratuites. Couple that with a big newish ship and one more day than the Celebrity cruise and better nightlife options I would say that's what you should do!
  20. As others have said I do hope you realize that the cabins you all have don't have real balconies? They are Oceanview cabins with a panoramic window that opens and with bifold screens that you close to simulate a balcony. But in reality it's just a window that opens. You cant 'step outside'.
  21. One of the better writeups of someone's first Virgin Voyages cruise: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/3003539-roguepersons-live-scarlet-lady-4212024-transatlantic/?do=findComment&comment=67367133
  22. I was thinking how to respond to this. First of all Celebrity is my favorite cruiseline. The point I was trying to make is for one's cruise vacation, there are activities that one enjoys doing that are pleasurable and satisfying, but isn't necessarily fun. Yes in the wider sense fun, pleasureable, and satisfying can be all synonyms of each other. But I was looking at the narrower definition of fun and I can enjoy two different cruiselines but for different reasons. I LOVE nothing more than spending early evening after dinner on a Celebrity cruise sitting at Cafe Al Bacio with my husband having coffee and just watching the comings and goings on the cruiseship. That is enjoyable and satisfying for me, but I wouldn't use the word fun. Going to the Scarlet Night pool party or the resident drag queen show on a Virgin Voyages cruise I would describe as FUN activities. https://inspirationlocation.com/2012/07/04/the-difference-between-fun-and-pleasure/
  23. For basis of comparison, here's the same dish on Virgin's Valiant Lady which was excellent!(Extra Virgin Restaurant, all restaurants included with regular fare), followed by the same dish at an outdoor plaza-restaurant in Livorno,Italy when we made a stop on the Carnival Pride.
  24. I was on the other ship, the Ovation, and the ship position was constantly changing, so I don't think we dropped anchor either.
