  1. We had this email sent to us and had to call to get the package, it came to £39 PPPD for our 9 night Med cruise on Odyssey end of September. A couple of coffee's and Fresh OJ at breakfast, drinks at the pool, a few pre dinner cocktails, wine at our meal and then a few drinks during and after a show it is a no brainer, it all adds up. We sailed Anthem OTS twice last year since start up and the prices of the DDP was £80 PPPD and that was totally unacceptable and to me was RC grabbing some money back.
  2. I have not seen any on CC or facebook, My DW and I are really excited as our eldest daughter and Granddaughter have never been on a cruise so want to show them as much as possible. We are still working on the transfers and hotel the night before but am sure it will all work out. Would be great not to have to fly before and after the cruise but it will be worth it.
  3. Benny, Question from a Brit, do you know if anyone took an excursion to Disney from the ship and all was good? We are looking at doing so with our Granddaughter but being Brits are struggling getting a day pass over here as only 7 and 14 day ones are available. Our friends from over the pond are looking at getting 1 day passes for us so are just hoping the excursion there and back was ok.
  4. Suamom, I would not worry about getting Turkish Lira for Turkey as they will take US Dollars (as well as Pound Sterling and Euro) so long as they are in good condition (just make sure you know the exchange rate, today it is $1=TL 17.36) and never ever accept the price they quote you! Always haggle and be prepared to walk away as they will nearly always cut a good deal (for you and them). It is all part of the shopping experience in Turkey buying real fake watches or bags lol, though saying that the copies are very good indeed. DW and I are sailing 28th Sept on the same itinerary and cannot wait to get away and chill. Have a great time.
  5. We are sailing on Oasis OTS mid October and cannot wait to fly over to sail on her. This will be the first time our eldest daughter and eldest granddaughter (6) have been on a cruise so cannot wait to show them this review. Will be watching out for all your updates and photos!.
  6. We sail on Odyssey OTS on the 28th Sept this year (last cruise around the Med I think for the season) for 9 nights and are looking forward to it. The weather should be fine and nice to enjoy all the ports of call.
  7. We went on Anthem twice last year and loved her! A great ship to travel on and enjoy. You will love her.
  8. If you use the App it tells you when you can check in and you will be able to select a boarding time on it when you fill all your information out.
  9. My Daughter sent our granddaughters passport off to be renewed and had it back within 3 weeks so not too bad at all. do it now as it will be one less thing to worry about.
  10. Thanks for the reply on this, we will only be going to Magic Kingdom and we will be there on the 18th Oct ( Off Oasis ). We will book the transport from the ship with RC so as not to be left high and dry. 😁
  11. We are also planning on flying in for our cruise the day before so will test Friday, fly Saturday and board Sunday.
  12. If on the cruise you have pre paid your gratuities and paid 18% gratuity on a purchase say for a drink then why would you feel the need to pay even more in tips? I am all for tipping for service when required but fail to see why you should be forever tipping. We always leave extra for our room attendant and MDR servers as we like to interact with them throughout the cruise and they on every cruise we have been on go above and beyond, but I fail to see why I would tip a barperson for a drink I have just purchased with 18% gratuities added. Maybe it is just an American thing where everyone feels the need to tip or be tipped.
  13. I think it will as we are on holiday and like I said just to see our granddaughters face light up is well worth it.
  14. MamatoJack thank you for the information. We have just spoken to a very good friend who we met on a cruise to Cuba a few years ago and she has said she will look at getting us tickets (we would send the money to her) and reserve the day. Yes I understand that we will have about 5 or 6 hours only in the park but to see the face of our Granddaughter would be priceless. Our friend has just asked what day (18th Oct) we will be there and she is in Orlando with her family around that date and may well be in the magic Kingdom on that day!!!! now that will really be a trip to remember, they will be travelling from North Carolina.
  15. Many thanks Jessy for taking the time for this. We thought it would be around those prices, would we be able to buy when we get there or would we have to buy online? We cannot buy from the UK as I have said as it is 7 or 14 days only. Thanks
  16. We have been on a number of carnival cruises mostly sailing out of the US but one transatlantic (Vista), they are a good cruise line and are value for money IMHO. The only time I did not enjoy it too much was on a 4 night out of LA to Porta V and Ensenada, a lot of young people wanting to party. I did not bother me too much but it was a bit of an eye opener. I would say go for it and am sure you will be fine.
  17. You won't need to test before entry into the US now as they have dropped the pre entry test. You would only now need to get a test prior to boarding the cruise. Am sure that someone on here will be able to advise on where to get a test once in the US. We are flying in the day before the cruise so will be tested on the Friday, fly Saturday and board Sunday so will hopefully be ok.
  18. No I don't think it will be anytime soon but it will at some point it has too.
  19. There is an excursion to Disney or Universal that can be booked through the cruise (return transport) so would book that as then the onus is on them to get you back on time. We have looked at tickets for 1 day but here in the UK it seems that you can only get 7 or 14 day ones. We have asked our friend in the US to have a look for us at the cost of a 1 day park pass and we will go from there. If it is too expensive then we will look at other options.
  20. We cruise in the US on the 16th Oct out of NJ on Oasis, we fly in on the Saturday so will test on the Friday before we fly. That will give us two days prior to sailing. We will still have to do the same in Europe as we sail on Odyssey at the end of Sept on a 9 night Med cruise and will have to have a test done for that but not to fly. I understand the cruise lines problems but think at some point they will drop the testing as it is hindering the return of pre Covid numbers and they will at some point need the income that was generated. The problem will be the fact that quite a number of countries are stopping testing and tests will become a bit harder to source.
  21. We are looking at booking transport to and back from Disney, do you know if many passengers do that? Thanks
  22. What a great review! We are sailing on Oasis on the 16 Oct, both my wife and I have done quite a few cruises and this is our free one this year as my wife is prime. We had promised our eldest granddaughter (6) she could come with us last year (2 UK cruises after lockdown on Anthem) but she could not come away in the end. Her mum our eldest daughter is also coming along as her husband said why don't you go as well. She did not hesitate so all booked on and cannot wait. We fly in to JFK on the Saturday and will stay in NY that night before travelling over to NJ for the cruise on the Sunday. Will keep following you as you work and play on Oasis. Have fun.
  23. Thanks for that, just seen that CDC might be dropping the testing? Do you think the Cruise lines will follow suit?
