  1. Me too, especially when folks complain about the gratuities they knew about before sailing.
  2. Where have you been? Free is a marketing term that doesn't really mean free. Ever hear of "buy one, get one free"? It sounds like you knew about the required gratuities beforehand, so I'm not sure why you're suddenly so upset.
  3. I just finished my third Norwegian cruise, and they've all been a little different. I don't understand the "nickle-and-diming" comment because everything is spelled out when booking. I choose not to get the "free" beverage package because my wife and I aren't really big drinkers. On my latest 7-day cruise, my bar tab was only $100. I have sailed with Royal, Carnival and Celebrity. I like them all for different reasons. If you don't want to sail on a particular cruise line again, that's your right. Just be sure you read the booking details to avoid unwelcome surprises.
  4. I just logged in and looked at my 9-day Europe cruise. It now shows every day as a sea day! Anyone else have this issue?
  5. Good afternoon, First timer to Amsterdam here. I am planning to arrive a couple days before my May 2024 cruise from Rotterdam. Would it make sense to go directly to Rotterdam from the airport, and take a train to Amsterdam (sans luggage) on day #2? Or would you recommend staying in Amsterdam, then traveling to Rotterdam on embarkation day? Thanks!
  6. Thanks! It looks like the Hampton and Holiday Inn Express are closest to the Hoofddorp train station.
  7. I am planning to stay in Amsterdam for 2 nights before our cruise. I've noticed that hotels near Schiphol airport cost a lot less than hotels right in Amsterdam. Is it crazy to use an airport hotel as a base for exploring Amsterdam? Thanks.
  8. I got the "free" open bar on my first two NCL cruises, but on my recent 6-day Royal cruise I saw that our bar tab was less than $250. So, I've since removed the "free" open bar on my future NCL cruises. I think I'll just break even at worst. If I had an itinerary with a lot of sea days, then it may be worth it for me.
  9. We are leaving on a cruise from Trieste, Italy in Oct. 2024. I plan to fly into Marco Polo airport, then stay a couple of nights in Trieste pre-cruise. Does anyone know if there a bus that leaves VCE and arrives in Trieste? Thanks!
  10. I've only been on two Carnival cruises so far, but it would have to be when we sailed to Half Moon Cay on Freedom. Rented a cabana, and it was awesome!
  11. Good morning. Our October 2024 cruise is scheduled to stop in Piraeus from 6:00-17:00. Could we could take a morning ferry to Aegina and spent 4-5 hours before heading back to our ship? How far are the ferry docks from cruise docks and is this trip even realistic given our time constraints? Thanks!
  12. I sailed twice with Royal in the last six months, and I kept thinking about how much I missed Carnival's MDR which has meals that I can pronounce and actually enjoy! Royal felt a just little pretentious.
  13. Good morning all. I'm looking at a 10-day Ireland cruise on Star. Of the seven planned port stops, four are listed as tender ports. Has anyone here gone on this itinerary and were so many water shuttles much of an issue? Thanks.
  14. If my ship is scheduled to arrive at 7 a.m. in Fort Lauderdale, how risky is it to book a 1:15 pm flight from Miami? Thanks.
  15. I sailed on Breakaway last May and really enjoyed it. It has flaws, but overall it's a beautiful ship. The food in the main dining room was great as well as the shows in the theater.
  16. I imagine there will be no enforcement, but plenty of fines assessed. 🤑
  17. But it does create a terrible stench on balconies. 😖
  18. I want to book a Dec. 2024 Eastern Caribbean cruise. Carnival Magic and Vista have the same itineraries, departure date and length. The only difference is Vista leaves from Port Canaveral and Magic from Miami. I haven't been on either ship before. All things being equal, which ship would you choose? Thanks.
  19. Just got off a Royal cruise where they offered a behind-the-scenes tour for $179 pp! I wanted to do it, but not for that price. Does Norwegian offer a similar tour and, if so, any idea how much it costs? Thanks.
  20. Hah! I need one bag for just my medicines & cpap machine! 🤣
