  1. Dig a little deeper and look at the times for each day in port. Some stops can have only a few hours in port.
  2. My wife and I have been on 3 NCL cruises and have always been able to get a table for two.
  3. Thanks. I'm also booked on this cruise next year.
  4. Sorry to hear your cruise was less than stellar. I've been on 3 Norwegian cruises post-pandemic and the food and entertainment was good on all of them. The Epic is the ship I intentionally avoid. I don't think you'll regret trying a different NCL ship someday.
  5. Same thing happened to me last year. My Baltic cruise was cancelled (for obvious reasons), so they refunded my deposit and issued a 10% coupon for a future cruise. Like you, my original cruise was over a year away. I was able to apply the 10% discount on an NCL cruise that I had already booked.
  6. Just got off the Jewel a few weeks ago. We did the behind-the-scenes tour for $99 each...booked on the ship. It was over 2 hours, and included one individual photo. There were 15 in our group, which was too many...it was tough to squeeze into some tight areas. FYI, we were on Royal's Harmony OTS in Feb. They wanted $179 pp!!!
  7. Thanks. I always carry them off, but have never tried carrying them on.
  8. It seems like luggage delivery is getting later and later. Last cruise, I didn't get my bags until after 7 p.m, and only because I found them in a crew-only area. I'm wondering if it makes more sense to choose a late boarding time and just transport my suitcases myself. Even if the cabins are ready at 3:00, I can start unpacking hours earlier. Anyone ever do this, and is it even possible? Thanks.
  9. Thanks. Fortunately, it looks like we'll be the only ship in port that day.
  10. I agree. I haven't been on the Jade yet; I was on the Gem (which is similar) and really enjoyed it.
  11. I just returned from a 7-day Mexico cruise on the beautiful Norwegian Jewel. And, yes, it is beautiful. We sailed on the Gem in 2021 and I expected the Jewel to look similar, but the last drydock really updated the look of the whole ship. The only thing I really miss is the fish carpet in the hallways; I found myself going the wrong way a couple of times. We had a balcony cabin. I expected it to be the same as the one we had on Gem, but after the dry dock improvements, there is less room. The safe is in an awkward spot. I even had to store some clothes in the nightstand. Bathroom felt tighter as well. The good: Ship was beautiful. Food in the MDR and buffet was very good. Shows were good (when they didn't conflict with my reserved dining) The odd: The atrium was unusually silent most days...nothing going on. No atrium bar, only Starbucks. The "shallow" end of both pools was about 5'4". I'm not a swimmer, just wanted to stand in the pool and cool off, but the water was up to my nose. There is no sign for Guest Services. That had to be a miss. Bottom line: I loved the Jewel. 👍
  12. Not a worry. My future Escape cruise has zero sea days! 😂
  13. Good morning all. I am planning to visit Bruges on a Sunday this October while on a cruise. Should I expect many shops/restaurants to be closed? Thanks.
  14. I've been using a stretchy adhesive phone wallet on several of my recent cruises. Very handy.
  15. Starting to have second thoughts about my 10-day Europe cruise booked on the Escape. I've read many bad reviews citing the crowds and inability to get into shows or even elevators. Certainly there has to be some Encore lovers out there. If so, please tell me why you're a fan. Thanks.
  16. I do that too, but it kind of kills the whole "freestyle" concept.
  17. Can someone tell me if the cabin doors on Dawn are steel? I'm wondering if a magnet will stick to it. (And, yes, I know the official Norwegian policy on cabin door decorations. I saw plenty on the Jewel 2 weeks ago.)
  18. Hello all! I have booked an Ireland cruise for May 2024 on Norwegian. On my booking confirmation, it specifies the ports of Waterford, Galway and Dingle as tender ports, but those ports are not included on Norwegian's list of tender ports: https://www.ncl.com/about/accessible-cruising-tender-ports Anyone here have first-hand knowledge of these ports? Thanks.
  19. No problem. I do it all the time.
