Specialty, dining, Royal Caribbean question
Blur replied to Grayden1097's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yup. But it's usually not worth wasting a 3 or 5 night dinner meal on it since it's usually way cheaper than chops, Jamie's, or wonderland. I'd recommend just using those 3 for the night dinners and if they are really interested in izumi just pay separately ala cart (one of the few places that list prices for each item). -
Age specific activities for cruise-awkward age 20

Sounds like royal should add chat rooms to the app with appropriate age groups so more shy people can "meet" without the awkwardness of forced in person meetings. This way they can self organize based on interests and meet when and if they want to. -

I guess it's what happens when you put 18 year olds with 25 year olds? -
Specialty, dining, Royal Caribbean question

Izumi is normally ala carte you can pay per item or take out but there is a pre-fix set menu you can pay to get like one appetizer, 2 main items (sushi rolls) and 1 dessert. Like merion mentioned, chops, wonderland, and Jamie's is not ala carte so there is one price you pay for the meal which if you add up all the meals separately should be cheaper for the 5 night package. -

I think most people who get the 3 night dining package wouldn't waste it on one of the a la cart dining places? Just pay a la cart for the a la cart places and use the 3 night package at the regular places like chops? Also the 3 night dining package should be like 108pp not 300pp so def check that. 300pp sounds like the ultimate dining package. -
If your account is linked then it just shows the highest status and the highest points for both. Your actual points are still tracked in their system but only the highest of you both is displayed. If at any time the points and status is different then you gotta resync it by doing that remove loyalty number trick π

If OBC is refundable, they will just credit you the balance to your credit card after sailing ends so no need to get from guest services unless you want cash. Just make sure it's refundable though! I've had like $300 left over as refundable (from travel agent) and got a nice refund on my CC. I think it says the type of OBC on the app and the TV bill on board. If you have both types it'll use the non refundable first when you charge things.

Yup. Elsewhere too but more risky. The signal doesn't go far beyond the cabin due to the metal walls which is a good thing. I've had a friend who tried to access my router from one balcony above me and couldn't. Basically you connect everything to the router or hotspot phone which is logged into the voom account sharing the one account bandwidth so it's great for browsing but not great for streaming movies on multiple devices. In that case I recommend getting multiple device accounts. You can do this at home before the cruise or even in the hotel. I normally use it at hotels too since it protects your devices from being on the hotel WiFi. Oh you can also switch it back to any of your other devices if not in room. Example you switch it to your phone when leaving room by just turning off router and logging into voom on phone. To be fair it's prob easier to hot spot on your phone if your phone allows it and it's almost impossible to prevent where as a router they could technically try to block it. To configure on router it's a little more techy since you need to access a website once connected to router so I can see many people shying away. Phone hotspot is super easy if your phone allows it.

Are $2 bills appreciated for tips?
Blur replied to ShillyShally's topic in Royal Caribbean International
But why did they have it... Cause they know cruisers ask for it? Were you just randomly given $2 bills or did you request it? Again cruising industry keeping $2 bills alive in 2023. They prob laugh about it. -

I would bet they mostly use the ships bank at whatever fees they charge. Of course they would use the ships bank to some degree and to be fair maybe that's where they throw all the $2s and keep other bills for spending at ports or otherwise. Just funny -

Because you asked for it... And they keep getting it from people who thinks it's "cool". Lol. -

I've only received a $2 bill once in my life from my grandmother when I was little which I still keep in my wallet... Not as money but for luck! So weird lol... Look the best way to settle this is to ask every crew member you meet if they prefer $2 or 2x$1. Then if they tell you $2 then give it to them lol. Otherwise you are just forcing it on them cause it's better than no tip. -

Any money going through ship bank is tracked. Ever think they want to keep cash tips private? -

Repeat of my previous statement regarding the summary of the two sides. no worries you do you! Anti $2 - (selfless?) stop being annoying and just use common denominations... Like everyone else Pro $2 - (selfish?) I do what I want and two dollars are easier to carry... You can't stop me! Not a burden. They can handle it! Answer to OP: yes $2 is appreciated since it's better than $0 (period) -

No one is saying the can't handle it. It's about making their lives easier since they make our lives easier. Good example would be if they wanted to keep any cash earnings private from royal they would prefer denominations which didn't need to be changed via the purser on the ship -
If you've surfed and is good at it then chances are great you'll pick up flowboarding quickly. My concern was just your wording since it gives off impression you are newish so didn't want you to fail the stand up test and be forced to pay for a lesson like others mentioned earlier.

True and I can hide wet towels all over my cabin and they can easily take care of it but why potentially make their lives more annoying when it's something we have to go out of our way to do? (Eg go get bills that are not common). π Without going to a bank how many $2 bills do you run into day to day... I'd say for most people it's 0 lol. -
No worries. Software engineer so I have things running including servers in my house so just different way of life π .

Anyone who surfs knows it's not the same. I tried surfing in Hawaii... Failed horribly lol. Most new people call it surfing. Other people who have done it a while call it, flowboarding or stand up flowriding since it's so different.
