  1. Good to hear that this captain is continuing with the daily report on Covid numbers from his predecessor. We had reached 47 by the end of our 13 day cruise. No mandatory on-cruise RATs for us. Indeed today's report will be interesting ...
  2. Can't remember choosing bed configuraton either ... I booked in mid Oct for Westerdam's November cruise and in late Oct for Noordam in February. Pretty certain that there was no choice for bed and dining preferences (Queen and open dining). Maybe that is the default for dining until it is full.
  3. Don't remember there being a choice of dining mode/times when I made my bookings. I just did a dummy booking and no choices come up before you have to commit to the booking (i.e. part with some money). Both my booking confirmations automatically said 'Open Seating' (which is my preference).
  4. Yep, Westerdam departs Sydney on Jan 3 for Singapore - but she wasn't really meant to be here in the first place ...
  5. According to AIS, next stop Tauranga, ETA 22 Dec 18:45 (6.45pm)
  6. From what I can find the penguin viewing at St Kilda is closed while the pier is redeveloped. It sounds like a 2024 completion ... https://www.facebook.com/stkildapenguins/
  7. It was the same on my recent cruise. Some bars/restaurants do and some don't - I quickly gave up to figure out why. Definitely more work for the bar tenders and servers. My Android phone also won't accept the Navigator app. I have a tablet though that has a newer version so could use that (not that I found it very necessary, except for shore excursion tickets, which no longer come in paper form). In the buffet at lunchtime, I mainly enjoyed the Asian section (including sushi) and it's nice to be able to take the plate and head outside to the Seaview pool area (weather permitting of course).
  8. Have a great cruise Julie. I enjoyed two weeks on Westerdam just recently.
  9. Make sure to get it while on the ship. In both instances where I claimed, we automatically received a letter confirming port missed due to bad weather (that was HAL both times).
  10. Insure and Go for one offers missed ports compensation ($50 or $100 per port depending on level of cover) under their cruise policy. You need written confirmation from the cruise line.
  11. Correct, in US$ - with the option to pre-pay, in A$ (at a very favourable exchange rate).
  12. Hope you have a great cruise. Boarding Noordam in February. Who is the new captain?
  13. I assume you mean Mar 25, 2023. That sailing does not have any ports that require tendering.
  14. There is also a bus service into the city which leaves directly from the cruise terminal . For more details see https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/news-and-events/events/2022/09/15/public-transport-during-the-2022-2023-cruise-ship-season/
  15. If you don't like them, just upload some others. Hope you approve of my choices. 😉
  16. Westerdam off Kangaroo Island, South Australia
