  1. To all those that Pauline and I have cruised with over the years.

    Good Morning From Whistler

We would like to thank all of you for the wonderful times we have had together over our 500+ days of cruising on NCL ships.

The last 4 cruises on the Jewel may well be our last cruises apart from our two “free” Ambassador” cruises we will be doing after our stay in Canada.  Even if they are not, I intend to let others take over from me in arranging Meet & Greets, lunches and dinners on-board and filling the Roll Calls with helpful hints.

We are uncertain of our future as I have a knee replacement scheduled and Pauline’s replacement, and her elbow, are causing her a lot of grief.   We are both into our 80s and are feeling our age.

I will not “turn-off” cruise critic and so will still receive notifications addressed to me but I will not be following as I have in the past.

Thank you again, bon voyage and I hope many more of you continue to become Ambassadors.

  2. Be thankful that is all it is.   We were talking to our next door neighbour who had recently returned from a Mediterranean cruise (not NCL) which was clearly catering for Muslims (& possible Jews) as there were no pork products at all on the ship.

When you rsgister online 21 days before the cruise they will give you a check in time.

Actually when you do the on-line check you choose the time you want to arrive at the port.   The earlier you do the online check in the earlier the arrival time is available.

Boarding does NOT usually start at the earliest check-in time, usually it starts anywhere between 11am and Noon, it depends on when the ship has been cleared by the local authorities.

Unless you have some form of priority there will a number of groups who board before "the general public".

The MDRs on NCL are "free", covered by your fare, so, unlike Specialty, where you either pay or have a "voucher of one sort or another, you have an account to sign even if you are not getting charged for anything; there is nothing to sign

I would say that it is VERY uncommon to tip in an MDR.   Even in a Specialty many don't as they have paid a 20% Service Charge.

I've just reached Ambassador level.   Should that be we?   Makes a difference!!

How long does it take to be able to book free cruise   It will take a few days after you have finished the cruise you are on for the information to get through to them and then "it is all on".   Email contact works through AmbassadorMembers@ncl.com and I suggest that is the way to contact them rather than by phone.

I found them excellent to deal with.

The "Free Cruise" is a cruise with NO FARE only.   You will still have to pay the Taxes etc. and the DSC.   Also there are NO perks.   It is a 7 day cruise for 2 people in a balcony cabin.  If there are two people who achieved Ambassador then it is 2 cruises, each for 2 people.   You can make it ONE cruise for 2 people on a 14 day cruise.  We looked at it and booked what we found was the most expensive 7 day cruise, twice; the Pride round Hawai'i.

... and what is the special gist I get and do we get one each ?   This is again where the earlier question cuts in.   You only get one each if there are two of you who have both attained Latitude Ambassador status.

Likewise you will each get a special Ambassador pin with your name on it when each of you is Ambassador.

Here is my pin; mainly the same size as a normal pin with an extra piece at the bottom with your name on.   It comes in a glass fronted box with a complete set of the earlier pins.

The gift is a set of carry-on luggage; again one each if you both become Ambassadors.

Here is the card that explains the luggage and the luggage laid out.

A word of warning.   I believe that they only send out pins and gifts twice a year.   We were told that our details were forwarded to whoever early in December; the pins arrived early in February and the gift towards the end of the month.

  6. We are doing a Tokyo round trip that calls in Busan.

    What paperwork was required please?

Entry for Korea before arriving at Busan?

Re-entry for Japan after leaving Busan?

    Face to face for either?

If there was paperwork is anyone able to scan and upload here?

    Thank you

  7. We have the Premium Beverage Package on our Confirmation Email and also ALL4CHO in the "Promos" and can take on all the wine we want.

Check your Confirmation to check what you have on yours.

How does this compare with the "udp" that is quoted?
