  1. I questioned the tone of your previous response. To me, it was quite argumentative. OTOH, your response I quote here asks the same question in a less confrontational, combative manner. No complaints from me for this composition.
  2. Yes, the loss was better than forecast. Stock jumped abt 20% today.
  3. I was on Voyager very recently, often dining with several titanium-level passengers. The general manager had a short conversation with the woman next to me about the upgrades planned for Voyager next year. Unfortunately, my bad memory means that I don’t remember any details, but he did emphasize that the changes would be extensive and significant.
  4. The English language has a wealth of words and phrases and euphemisms to describe many shades of meaning. The F-word is an extreme, which only 1 person is inserting into this discussion.
  5. Just to point out, you are the only one suggesting fraud. No one else. Spin? Maybe. Virtue signaling? Perhaps. Am suspicious, that’s all.
  6. It’s important to deviate well in advance. I forget the outer limit, but it’s worth deviating as early as possible in order to get the best flights and options and seat assignments. If you wait to see what Regent assigns you without going through the deviation process, by then it’s probably too late to be able to find a better itinerary. JMO
  7. I think the savings comes from fuel savings by reducing cruising speed. Also increases “virtue signaling “. Also, a rumor spread onboard that by giving 3 days notice, Regent received refunds of tours cancelled…..
  8. Two questions: Are you saying the “reduce cruising speed” policy only applies to O & NCL cruiselines? If so, please explain your sources or your reasons… Which high end tour companies have you booked with? This shouldn’t violate any CC policies if you don’t include TA names…. Thx!
  9. Hmmm. Do solo travelers get 1 or 2 accounts if NOT booked in a solo stateroom?
  10. Agree. I was waitlisted for a penthouse, but then noticed some were available. So I called and got my selection. Pays to be vigilant.
  11. in my experience, Regent does not charge more than 200% single supplement like some other cruiselines do, So this is not needed. You might have to pay double for the state room if there is no reduction in the single supplement. But you will at least receive a credit for the second airfare not being used.
  12. Losing 1 day cruising in the Antarctic Ocean, perhaps, IDK. The other 2 ports (Port Stanley, Puerto Arenas), no. No expedition ship required.
  13. Thx for this. Just to add one other issue due to code red, the Bridge instructors were not able to incorporate playing cards into their lectures I was told there was no duplicate or organized social bridge games during the Code Red. At some point during the cruise, Code red was lifted, and my understanding was that normal Bridge practices resumed. By then I was involved with other stuff. I really enjoyed the cruise, especially the 2 days in the Antarctic. I felt like there were reasons other than weather explaining why the captain canceled several ports. I am very suspicious because I have read extensively on the Oceania forum about a new NCLH corporate policy to reduce ship cruising speed. The captain reduced our time in the Antarctic ocean by one day, and canceled Puerto Arenas three days prior to our scheduled arrival. He announced it to us three days prior to our scheduled arrival. That makes no sense, in addition, to canceling the Falkland, which does happen more frequently. We probably were cruising at a very slow speed, making corporate happy. I had a great cruise, and I booked two additional reservations while on board. Just hope I have enough money to make final payment.🤔
  14. I am so sorry that I did not keep the marketing materials with the list of reduced solo supplement cruises sailing in 2024. You probably could go to the rollcall for the current itinerary and post a request for someone to post the marketing material that gets distributed. I’m sorry I can’t be more help.
  15. 2 points: Ships have lifeboats that are used as tenders, so no need to find local tenders It’s harder to get provisions to the ship from a canceled port, than from a quickly substituted port.
  16. Debarked Voyager 2 days ago. Conversation with GM - he said the 2025 dry dock will be a major overhaul. Sorry I’m fuzzy on the details….
  17. You are correct; often (always?) single supplement specials are not combinable with sale prices. I returned home yesterday from my second Regent cruise. They included a sale flier in one of the Passages with a long list of itineraries with 0% single supplement. All were sailing this year. I’m already booked up this year so I am not able to take advantage……. As this thread is addressed to solo travelers, I must mention that Regent does a great job taking care of their solo pax. And what an interesting group of people. I pay a premium price to sail on Regent bc I meet such incredible people onboard! Oceania pax are not too shabby either!
  18. I am on this cruise now and I’m having a wonderful cruise. All of my interactions with the captain and officers have been very pleasant and amenable. They have been approachable, however, I’ve not had any difficult topics to discuss with them. I posted elsewhere that the first two nights the service in Compass Rose was extremely slow. Extremely. Hard to get any notice from servers, and I was sitting at a table with two titanium level passengers. I turned in the mid cruise review the following morning, and was it a coincidence that by dinner time service had been restored to the expected levels. Everyone commented on how the service at Compass Rose was better. Since then Service has been fine, food has been very good. No complaints there. The wine is much better on this cruise than my previous itinerary on Mariner in November 2022. I don’t find the ship to be old and tired at all. OK, in Horizon lounge, it could be time to refresh the upholstery. But, I’m very satisfied overall. YMMV Internet has been abysmal, abysmal. Might be a function of where we were sailing. One thing to add to your list of issues is the lack of production shows in the theater. A few too many movies. Comedian was good, very funny. more later
  19. Last night at dinner, a staff member confirmed that there is currently at least one case of Covid on board. Dinner service at compass Rose continues to be excellent. It is not a fast-paced meal; from beginning to end it can take almost 2 hours. The group I have been with are not in a hurry, but I assume if we were, we would be able to accelerate the pace. Food has been excellent, I am especially impressed with the included wines. When on my first Regent cruise, it was a little bit hard to find something acceptable to me. On this cruise there are a lot of good included wines. Due to weather, Port Stanley was canceled. Therefore, we had 8 sea days in a row. Two of those days we spent in Antarctica getting up close and personal to all the wondrous beauty around us. The lecturers have been excellent, and the list of activities is good. The two days we were cruising through Antarctica. The number of daily activities was extremely limited. The purpose was to allow the passenger, the ability to spend as much time as they wanted, enjoying our presence in that unique environment. I should mention that Super Bowl was a big hit. The constellation theater was jampacked. We “tailgated” prior to the start of the game. I enjoyed having a hotdog, buffalo wings, mac & cheese, and other goodies. more later
  20. On Voyager now, embarked in BsAs. Yesterday was FIRST day not under Code Red. Now smth like code orange, if that exists. Things are starting to get back to normal, but captain announced yesterday that it takes another 48 hours of no new cases to completely eliminate all restrictions. Having a great cruise! Service in CR last 2 nights has been flawless. No complaints!
