    MSC Match

So, I see based on the table that MSC would status match my Regent Silver status to Diamond after I return from my next Regent cruise. What does that get me? (Pls excuse my ignorance.) Am looking to diversify my cruising options. Regent & Oceania are/were my preferred cruiselines. I was thinking MSC could be interesting as I like the idea of mingling with other nationalities so perhaps I can practice my Spanish & Italian…..
  2. Where are you located…..if that makes a difference……
  3. They are getting some bad reviews on BBB. Might as well stick to the devil I know…… https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/boston/profile/travel-agency/overseas-adventure-travel-0021-3848
  4. Sometimes I read their website wrong, but it seems to me that for the cruise I’m interested in, the black Friday price is the same as the 35% off nonrefundable fare. I think it’s an issue that the website does not display the prices appropriately online. I was following a link that listed all of the cruises that were included in the 35% off nonrefundable fare. The fare displayed on the website is the same as the black Friday pricing, which are really great prices, unless you’re traveling solo. SIGH.
  5. OP, there is a wonderfully helpful sticky thread at the top of this forum. Please review it, it will answer many questions, and provide excellent information.
  6. I really do enjoy dressing up (when surrounded by like-minded fashion snobs), so my previous post was touch-in-cheek, as is this one I guess also….. Seriously though, I like to “fit in” so I’m not wanting to be the “odd one out,” whatever the dress code…..
  7. I have read on the Internet (therefore, it must be true) that payroll salaries are taxed by the employee’s home country, and that cash tips are not taxed as income. If this is true, then by structuring tips as cash, the employee will not have to pay income taxes to their home country on those cash tips received. Fact, myth or legend - wakarimasen (am studying Japanese again).
  8. I have provided feedback in a web survey I took after using the Regent website. I mentioned that they should be able to display pricing with the applicable single supplement. Basically, whenever I specify online just 1 passenger, I get double the per person price for double occupancy.
  9. Something similar happened to me. Saw great BF pricing on a cruise that has 0% single supplement. Price was great! Asked my TA and she got a much higher quote from Regent. Explanation: can’t combine 2 different promotions…… 0% SS not combinable with BF pricing. SIGH!
  10. Several posts here on cruisecritic have posted they successfully disputed the final payment (or perhaps more…). I’m not saying it will work, but it’s perhaps an option to consider. As the cruise wasn’t cancelled, US travel insurance policies most likely won’t pay out (unless CFAR).
  11. To me, this is the entire issue, as a change in ports and titling of the cruise is well within contractual rights. I would add that O misled pax that they had until 30 November to select their next cruise, implying there was time to consider options. One pax reported the Oceania agent told them to, “sleep on it, and call back in the morning,” only to be told the next day the FCC offer had been rescinded. Regent only offered their affected pax 25% FCC, so that also is disappointing. Seabourn’s website is impossible, I won’t pay a year in advance so Viking’s out, and I can’t find a good itin (in my circs/wants) on Silversea’s website……. Might just switch to culinary land tours…….
  12. I think the world is watching how O responds/has responded to these cruisers. I believe it certainly is “not pointless” to have and to express an opinion. I’m interested in the opinion of others, but not interested in being told my view “is pointless.”
  13. I interpreted these amounts to indicate that Oceania was not giving anything away, but I’d be happy to be mistaken.
  14. There is a sticky at the top of this forum that provides a wealth of information about Regent air……with and without deviations.
  15. My extremely well connected TA inquired just this week for me and she was told the same thing! 🤔
  16. When cruising, I pack all my outfits that aren’t appropriate for Jack-in-the-box! LOL! JK 🥰
  17. Thanks for the good thought. I met 2 friends on a recent cruise and in 2025 or 2026 they want to do a Cape Town to Doha cruise on Regent, so I will save up my pennies for that pricey cruise. Other than that, I have no interest in going to Africa. I lived in West Africa in my youth, and I kind of don’t want to replace those memories.
  18. Some Dissatisfied pax are having success w disputes to their credit card companies. Go that route and report back on your results….
  19. With the exception of your last sentence, I agree w your sentiments if not your specific recommendations. Have been trying to find replacement options for my next O cruise. But, since I reserve when itins open and need good solo pricing, its not easy to find replacements. Seabourn’s website is hopeless, silversea’s itins haven’t called to me, and I won’t pay in full 12 months in advance so Viking is out. Regent is the closest to what I’m looking for, but its still an NCL brand. And, they didn’t do so great either on their response (25% FCC w limitations).
  20. Since when did that begin? I was on Sirena in early April and the coffee at Baristas was terrific. Not sure what the brand was. Thanks.
  21. Super simple to transfer your booking to a TA. The window has recently shortened; it used to be 30 days, but not sure abt the new, shorter deadline. Just communicate your booking number to your TA (after they confirm the “bennies” they will give you!). Always best to use a TA that is very familiar w O’s intricacies. Enjoy your cruise!
  22. I shipped once w Luggage Forward w air tags inside. No problem!
