  1. Hmmm. Do solo travelers get 1 or 2 accounts if NOT booked in a solo stateroom?
  2. Agree. I was waitlisted for a penthouse, but then noticed some were available. So I called and got my selection. Pays to be vigilant.
  3. in my experience, Regent does not charge more than 200% single supplement like some other cruiselines do, So this is not needed. You might have to pay double for the state room if there is no reduction in the single supplement. But you will at least receive a credit for the second airfare not being used.
  4. Losing 1 day cruising in the Antarctic Ocean, perhaps, IDK. The other 2 ports (Port Stanley, Puerto Arenas), no. No expedition ship required.
  5. Thx for this. Just to add one other issue due to code red, the Bridge instructors were not able to incorporate playing cards into their lectures I was told there was no duplicate or organized social bridge games during the Code Red. At some point during the cruise, Code red was lifted, and my understanding was that normal Bridge practices resumed. By then I was involved with other stuff. I really enjoyed the cruise, especially the 2 days in the Antarctic. I felt like there were reasons other than weather explaining why the captain canceled several ports. I am very suspicious because I have read extensively on the Oceania forum about a new NCLH corporate policy to reduce ship cruising speed. The captain reduced our time in the Antarctic ocean by one day, and canceled Puerto Arenas three days prior to our scheduled arrival. He announced it to us three days prior to our scheduled arrival. That makes no sense, in addition, to canceling the Falkland, which does happen more frequently. We probably were cruising at a very slow speed, making corporate happy. I had a great cruise, and I booked two additional reservations while on board. Just hope I have enough money to make final payment.🤔
  6. I am so sorry that I did not keep the marketing materials with the list of reduced solo supplement cruises sailing in 2024. You probably could go to the rollcall for the current itinerary and post a request for someone to post the marketing material that gets distributed. I’m sorry I can’t be more help.
  7. 2 points: Ships have lifeboats that are used as tenders, so no need to find local tenders It’s harder to get provisions to the ship from a canceled port, than from a quickly substituted port.
  8. Debarked Voyager 2 days ago. Conversation with GM - he said the 2025 dry dock will be a major overhaul. Sorry I’m fuzzy on the details….
  9. You are correct; often (always?) single supplement specials are not combinable with sale prices. I returned home yesterday from my second Regent cruise. They included a sale flier in one of the Passages with a long list of itineraries with 0% single supplement. All were sailing this year. I’m already booked up this year so I am not able to take advantage……. As this thread is addressed to solo travelers, I must mention that Regent does a great job taking care of their solo pax. And what an interesting group of people. I pay a premium price to sail on Regent bc I meet such incredible people onboard! Oceania pax are not too shabby either!
  10. I am on this cruise now and I’m having a wonderful cruise. All of my interactions with the captain and officers have been very pleasant and amenable. They have been approachable, however, I’ve not had any difficult topics to discuss with them. I posted elsewhere that the first two nights the service in Compass Rose was extremely slow. Extremely. Hard to get any notice from servers, and I was sitting at a table with two titanium level passengers. I turned in the mid cruise review the following morning, and was it a coincidence that by dinner time service had been restored to the expected levels. Everyone commented on how the service at Compass Rose was better. Since then Service has been fine, food has been very good. No complaints there. The wine is much better on this cruise than my previous itinerary on Mariner in November 2022. I don’t find the ship to be old and tired at all. OK, in Horizon lounge, it could be time to refresh the upholstery. But, I’m very satisfied overall. YMMV Internet has been abysmal, abysmal. Might be a function of where we were sailing. One thing to add to your list of issues is the lack of production shows in the theater. A few too many movies. Comedian was good, very funny. more later
  11. Last night at dinner, a staff member confirmed that there is currently at least one case of Covid on board. Dinner service at compass Rose continues to be excellent. It is not a fast-paced meal; from beginning to end it can take almost 2 hours. The group I have been with are not in a hurry, but I assume if we were, we would be able to accelerate the pace. Food has been excellent, I am especially impressed with the included wines. When on my first Regent cruise, it was a little bit hard to find something acceptable to me. On this cruise there are a lot of good included wines. Due to weather, Port Stanley was canceled. Therefore, we had 8 sea days in a row. Two of those days we spent in Antarctica getting up close and personal to all the wondrous beauty around us. The lecturers have been excellent, and the list of activities is good. The two days we were cruising through Antarctica. The number of daily activities was extremely limited. The purpose was to allow the passenger, the ability to spend as much time as they wanted, enjoying our presence in that unique environment. I should mention that Super Bowl was a big hit. The constellation theater was jampacked. We “tailgated” prior to the start of the game. I enjoyed having a hotdog, buffalo wings, mac & cheese, and other goodies. more later
  12. On Voyager now, embarked in BsAs. Yesterday was FIRST day not under Code Red. Now smth like code orange, if that exists. Things are starting to get back to normal, but captain announced yesterday that it takes another 48 hours of no new cases to completely eliminate all restrictions. Having a great cruise! Service in CR last 2 nights has been flawless. No complaints!
  13. Last night the service at Compass Rose was much better, no complaints at all. Could a possible reason be that I turned in my mid cruise survey early in the morning? I mentioned the slow service at compass Rose. I also mentioned on my survey how thankful I was for a service that was provided to me by the Head maitre’d at Chartreuse on the first evening. This morning the Prime 7 maitre’d came over to me to see if I needed anything. Maybe he’s hoping for a mention on the next survey? I forgot to mention on the survey that the Internet still s-cks.
  14. Voyager is at Port Stanley today. The captain canceled the port stop because of a poor weather forecast for the afternoon. We are waiting to debark one passenger for medical reasons, and then we will proceed to half moon island. I’m not familiar with it. Food has been excellent, passengers are wonderful and staff is even better. Only a small snafu with this morning‘s room service delivery. The server arrived at almost the end of the delivery window, and he just flopped the tray down on the table in my suite. He made no effort to lay the table. I only mentioned this because I think, it is another signal that they are shortstaffed. He seemed under quite a lot of pressure to hurry up and get a move on. Also, I think it took us about 45 minutes to receive our dinner drinks and have our order taken at Compass Rose last night. And I was sitting with two titanium passengers. They seem to know all the servers and management, but they had to make repeated requests to receive service. I’m still enjoying my cruise, but I’m not sure that other first time pax will appreciate what Regent can offer them if they can’t see past the slow service.
  15. Thanks for posting this. I am on board Voyager now. We are still in Code red, the primary impacts are slow service in the restaurant. I should say slower than usual. Yesterday at the captains welcome I sat next to the Bridge instructors, and they said that they are not allowed to touch cards. So basically, all they can do is lecture, and they cannot provide any practice play, no duplicate play. Also, restaurant staff are shifted to the La Veranda buffet line as passengers are not allowed to serve themselves. I view this as an enhanced service. On Oceania passengers are not supposed to serve themselves. well, there might be a few other impacts, but nothing comes to mind. Everything is wonderful, especially now that I’ve gotten over yesterday’s seasickness. I changed my patch and now I’m feeling better.
  16. Our British cousins often prefer baths as well. Personally I don’t get it, but then I’m also the type to “wolf down” my meal to get on w my day. Am boarding Voyager in about 2 hours. Very excited (although I hear it’s Code Red onboard). I will attempt to bring my “good manners” to dinner- no wolfing my food down! 😜
  17. I just received this morning, an update on my Voyager rollcall (continuing on from the Cape Town TA) that code red has been reinstated. Well, this is probably a necessary policy, but it will perhaps reduce the enjoyment of the cruise. Of course, not as much as getting sick!
  18. So far, the biggest complaint on my Voyager rollcall, which includes the Rio to Buenos Aires segment, is that the Internet $uck$.
  19. Will be silver on 2 February when I board Voyager. I received no name tags - just deck number….do they not know my name?
  20. Yes, quite good. Love Sirena! Sailing again on her in August 😄
  21. Thanks for posting your review on Sirena and for going with the flow! Have a great cruise!
  22. ToxM, thank you for posting your experience on Regent Voyager. I enjoy your posts on the Oceania forum. I’ll be boarding Voyager on 2 February. I hope they have straightened everything out. I hope you straightened them out, otherwise see you back on the Oceania forum!
