Happy Friday, all!
I have a question for our posters who live in Australia, Canada,England and Israel. A report on TV this AM caused me to be curious.
Is the production of electric cars being promoted in your countries?
According to the report, there has been a great demand for such vehicles in the US.
Thank you- @aussielozzie18, @A&L_Ont, @grapau27, and @dani negreanu

Just a brief take IMO in Canada. @Ourusualbeach and @Tree_skier can chime in to give their thoughts as fellow Canadians, if they differ or are similar.
There is promotion by government, mainly by using tax payer's funds to invest in battery plants and automotive plants to build electric vehicles.
IMO they are being dictated by the current federal government. "The Liberals have announced Canada's move away from fully gas-powered cars and toward electric vehicles, mandating that all sales of passenger cars, SUVs, crossovers and light trucks be hybrids, electric or hydrogen-powered by 2035". Our current Minister of Environment and Climate Change was previously a Green Peace activist who climbed the CN Tower and was sentenced to one year's probation. The court also ordered him to pay a portion of costs estimated at $50,000. His task is to protect the environment, but I would philosphically ask where should the line of reality be drawn versus a unrealistic goals.
As it stands our electrical grid where I live in my rural county could not support all electric cars, let alone the entire province nor entire country. To upgrade the grid for my county makes no sense. Neither does diesel generators at gas stations to provide power for the cars. Doing that defeats the purpose of not burning fossil fuels.
The theory is good, the practicality in my eyes not so much. I have personally had a hybrid SUV and bought 2 more for our family business. There are many that feel the same way as me about this mandated change, but there are others who are passionate about it. If I did a lot of commuting and had a fast charger near my home I would add one to my fleet of cars. Their raw speed and power is interesting but for me, at this point, it is not even on my radar. I have loved riding in them and when using Uber if it is an option I pick it.
As for the stories you have mentioned you can find a news stories here and here about electric vehicle demand dropping and plants cutting shifts.
Just my take, and maybe Dave and Ken can chime in what their thoughts are about Canada and electric cars. I did my best to make it about the car VS politics.

I don't think I'm the "kettle" in this case. I was trying to describe what appeared to be the attitude of the author. I believe the editors knew what kind of article they were angling for when they made the assignment, and I think it was a cheap shot on their part.
That's how I read your post.

RC had an excursion in Falmouth to one. Not sure exactly sure what it was about but they had it.

Day 3 breakfast at Razzle Dazzle. We ate more on this cruise than we usually do. To many new and different things to try. Everything was very good.
All the food looks delicious.- 1

My daughter texted me about OJ before I saw the news. I replied that she should expect a lot of white bronco chase videos in the next couple of days. Since that was before she was born, she texted back that this is what she remembers most about a white bronco chase:
Our Owen’s initials are OJS, the same as the infamous OJ, and he drives a white bronco too.
There better not be current police chases in the next couple days. 😉

Do you.make estimated quarterly payments. It still hurts but in smaller bites and more often. Sigh.

In response to the 2 posts above, it’s one way to “eat an elephant”.- 7

Surprisingly enough, I have found the filet in Giovanni's better than chops and both better than the MDR

Yes to both of these comments.- 1

Typically Chops and Giovanni’s are better, but that’s not to say you could get a bad cut of beef anywhere.

It was pretty exciting! Glad you got to see it. It started slow but then you could see a little dent in the sun that grew into a pac-man and then a very thin crescent moom. And the crescent shifted, first just the top of the sun, the left side & finally bottom. Looked like a big smiley face except the nose & eyes were missing. Lol
Temperature did drop a bit & the lighting got weird, not dark but ominous.
I took a few pictures but they did come out. I can share a picture of the long line at B&H. I meant to post it earlier. This is about 1/4 of the line.
Our experience was much like yours. Temperature dropped and the lighting got weird. Thanks to the glasses we could watch the eclipse as it progressed. As the sun emerged after totality I kept seeing bananas and slices of cantaloupe.- 5

You must be there watching. You do not need to be an active participant. Your child must be a set height to ride the boogie board and a taller height for stand up.

That should work. We ordered a set of glasses and a set of lens covers for our phones. The lens covers are just slightly larger versions of the lenses for the glasses.
From watching a video I don’t think I will need to cover the lense of my go pro for a time lapse. What do you think? I’m not fooling around with my phone of mirrorless camera.- 1

We are preparing for the eclipse tomorrow. We do not have totality where we live, but are an hour away for where it will be so there should be good darkness
@Sea Dog I might be sacrificing the old GoPro Black 7. Lisa might be getting me a new on for Father’s Day’s, especially if this one dies.
I’m going to cut out lense of the ISO eclipse glasses and tape it so it go over the GoPro lense. I’m going to try it with a time lapse.
Maybe very video to come tomorrow night.

Wow, now that looks like really good Food. Hope Royal is seeing what P&0 is putting out and Royal steps up their game!
It sure does look good. If The Bee ever sees it, it will be worse for the boards here. 😆- 1

@A&L_Ont ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
This is the coolest thing - a private concert? Holy moley. I would be in heaven. I asked our Genie if he could possible arrange a dance / singing lesson for our son's birthday. He loves performing but is super socially shy and hoping to get him to at least try sharing interest. If our Genie comes through like yours did, I think I would just start crying mom tears.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Warmest Amy
I hope it happens for you and your son. We never asked and it happened, so hopefully your request can come true. ❤️- 1

When Merion Mom mentioned the itinerary changed from Middle East to Africa and some people were doing other things, there was talk about some compensation. Just curious to how that is working for the World Cruise? Unlike a regular 7 day cruise that mostly likely would never happen. So there is a difference.
Gotcha, I thought you were just talking about just John having to come home.- 1

I do find that very odd unless Royal is forking back $$$ to those people that leave the ship and come back later? I'm pretty sure isn't it you leave and comeback at your own expense isn't it? Like John just did?
If you leave the ship on a 7 day cruise, on your own free will, it’s on the guest unless they have insurance. Why would there be a difference for the world cruise? If anything is more interesting it is being able to rejoin the ship in between the embarkation ports. I do not know if that is a possibility or not.

To be fair... The writer is known for being satirical. I thought it was kind of funny in a dark humor sort of way. Not surprised he wrote for Succession. Some of you need a little more sense of humor. Like he insulted your child or something.
He kind of did, cruising is something we all love to do. Having never read anything by him I took it as serious VS dark/humour, as there are people out there that do not like cruises.
I’ve never stepped on Icon, and don’t like her design. IMO she’s an ugly child. That said, I like cruising so don’t she’s ugly “out loud”. It’s more like he insulted you mother in-law, you put up with her but you can’t say what you think out loud about her.
It would have been better if they put him on the world cruise. If he actually hated cruising that would be hilarious.

The first paragraph said it all IMO. I stopped there.
The dramatic writing style, of the one paragraph, reminded me of the woman who wrote a novella about missing the ship in the Caribbean here on CC maybe 10 years ago. Anyone else remember that?
