  1. Yes, I have taken Silver from Tampa to FLL...but not since pre-covid...and even then they had frequent delays. While it's a very quick approximately 35-40 minute flight time...like others have mentioned it takes time to drive to the airport...have to arrive early...go through security and then transport to the ship once at Fort Lauderdale. In reality you really aren't saving any time...other than the 3.5hr "physical drive" from Tampa to FLL...it's a trade off. Also these are small prop planes...not full size jets like on Southwest Tampa-FLL.
  2. Was on Odyssey in Dec...the only show that was available pre-embarkation was for The Book...it showed up in the planner about 1 month prior to sailing.
  3. Alhambra is a must see....gorgeous palace and surrounding property and gardens.
  4. Stick with a cabin close to the forward or mid elevators/stairs. Anything located mid hump is an excellent location. Stay with deck 7-12. If you are interested in a JS any of the J4's center ship on the hump all have s separate walk in shower as well as a separate tub with a split bathroom set up.
  5. Was on Odyssey in Dec. The 2 big shows are The Book and The Effectors. The Book opened for reservations about a month ahead of time in the on-line planner...I don't remember the Effectors requiring reservations or at least it opening for reservations prior to boarding. The Book is very good both with the performing and special effects. The Effectors had some great special effects but it's really more a kids show IMHO. What I found odd is the times they had for most of the entertainment on Odyssey...they were pretty much always conflicting whether you had early or late dining.
  6. To go from a casino comp Interior or OV to a JS isn't going to be a cheap upgrade. If you want to get a rough estimate look at what the difference in price currently is between an OV and JS on whatever sailing you are interested in and thats around what it will cost.
  7. There is no free parking around Sparkmans Wharf....both the adjacent Garrison parking lot and the Channelside parking garage charge a fee.....as well as street parking is metered.
  8. I would be concerned my car would still be there or in one piece when I returned. I am sure that these hotels have little to no security in their parking lots and that thieves are familiar with the hotels that people leave cars at for a week at a time while they are off cruising....just saying.
  9. The days of any dress code enforcement seem to be gone on Royal....not necessarily for the good either. On my recent Odyssey sailing people were in the main dining room in shorts and t-shirts for dinner. There were people in windjammer barely dressed wearing bikinis, some even g-strings with very see through coverups during breakfast, lunch and even dinner. I never saw anyone ever tell anyone anything...even if they walked into the solarium cafe in swimwear and still dripping wet. It seems like pretty much anything goes.
  10. There is no longer any priority to board the ship for diamond plus (at least not Port Everglades). As far as the check-in time....on my last 2 cruises...Port Canaveral and Port Everglades they didn't even pay attention to the check-in time assigned.
  11. Over 20 sailings on oasis class and 2 now on Odyssey. My next is back on Odyssey again. Oasis class just played out for me...after sailing Odyssey I much more appreciate the fully enclosed solarium and even though it's a big ship smaller feel compared to oasis class. Much better Windjammer on Odyssey that I can't stand on Oasis class and never used. Love the 270 area as well as cafe 270...great ship.
  12. As long as you stay with parking within the "Channel District" it is close....some are in walking distance some a quick 5 minute shuttle ride away.
  13. Good luck with that...its like land based casinos...comp is comp and free play is free play...they don't convert.
  14. Bet that was the same sailing I was on....cause it happened during the inaugural season and right around dinner time.
  15. Experienced the same exact thing on Oasis years ago.....they called it a "technical blackout". It only lasted for a few minutes.
  16. The J4's are also on the hump....so best location and balcony views.
  17. Plenty to do all in walking distance. Sparkmans Warf right near the port has many dining choices. Tampa Aquarium, Tampa History Center....this also houses Columbia Cafe....super great Spanish food. Take the free street trolley over to Ybor....or just take a ride. Walk the River Walk. Take a water taxi ride. visit the Tampa Museum of Art. Airport is a 20 minute Uber ride.
  18. Think your taking about Yeoman's Cask and Lion.....I have not but hear good things and it's always seems busy.
  19. Haven't stayed at Hyatt house downtown Tampa but watched when it was being built. Newer hotel with a Starbucks and great bagels place across the street...Bruger Bagels. Very easy 5 minute Uber to port. Seems to get good reviews.
  20. Yup....saw this years ago on Oasis class holiday sailings that had a heavy Latin clientele.....kids sleeping on the floor in the corner of Boleros at 1am while the rest of the family partied.
