  1. It's me who posted about this and Royal telling me it's a new change....which I honestly don't believe. Your situation is exactly what I explained to them. I have been on enough sailings to know that they look at your set sail pass to see if it says suite or not. I find it very hard to believe that they are changing that to the more time consuming option of having someone actually scan your set sail pass to see. I expect that anyone without suite on their set sail pass is going to have the same experience as you. And my set sail pass used to also say suite as well as prime and that has all dropped off my set sail pass in the app now....I think it's a IT issue that has occurred after the recent Royal app update....not that it's a change.
  2. It sounds odd to me. My first question to him was did they cut JS's from priority boarding and being able to use the suite line and sit in the suite area at the port and thats why it's not showing suite class on the set sail pass like it used to in the past. This is my third Odyssey sailing...so comparing same ship and same port but this is first time the set sail pass shows differently.. He then said I don't think that junior suites have priority boarding access anymore...but then read through the Royal material and said oh no they do....it's shows it right here and read it to me. Typical Royal...their own material conflicts as I see some things say yes and then others say no...they have their own staff confused as well as their passengers.
  3. Hmmmmmmm....interesting. The purple color should signify diamond plus...but on your set sail pass it seems it showing suite but not showing your crown and anchor status other than for the color....assuming you are diamond plus?
  4. I noticed on the most recent set sail pass in my app for my upcoming sailing that it isn't showing Suite Class (staying in JS) or my Club Royale status like my other set sail passes have shown in the past. I called Royal's Club Royale number to verify my status as well as ask why it's not showing. They transferred me over to the dept that handles set sail passes and am being told that since the very recent latest update your set sail pass will now only show your crown and anchor loyalty status and not if you are in suite class or your Club Royale status anymore. So I asked how are they supposed to know at the port if you have priority suite access for boarding anymore as they used to just look at the set sail pass on the app to see. He is telling me that they will now scan your set-sail pass to verify instead of just viewing it to verify. Has anyone else noticed these changes or been told this same info?
  5. In this recent 2023 article I found online and titled below it looks like priority boarding for Junior Suites has been cut. Royal Caribbean Suite Perks (What’s Included 2023) The Sea class benefits are similar to the Junior Suite perks found on older ships, but with the removal of priority boarding.
  6. I just looked and neither does mine for my upcoming Odyssey sailing...maybe they have cut the suite access for JS's now on Odyssey...I know last time I had a JS on Odyssey last year it did say either suite or star class on the boarding pass in the app....I just showed it to them and used both the suite entrance and had access to sit in the suite section at the terminal and board with suites. Not good that it doesn't appear on our boarding pass now as without that I don't believe anyone is going to know the difference if you are in a JS or regular cabin,
  7. Water is an item I just order from the cruise line and have it waiting in my cabin....$20 total with gratuity for a 24 count case of water. I hate when I have to buy water at the grocery store and have to carry it home....never mind lugging it to the port and going through all that. For me it's not worth the hassle for the price difference for just a case of water.
  8. Came off a cruise in FLL during the morning of a Marathon...and I lived in FLL at the time. What should have been a 10 minute taxi ride home turned into an hour due to street closures....we had to go way around out of our way to get around. It was a nightmare and they just close streets down not caring the impact on drivers. I now always look to see what's going on during dates for cruises to make sure there isn't an issue. My advice....change your sailing date....it's not worth the stress.
  9. Agree on all the above. With that being said I like the open family pool feeling much better on Odyssey....but not so good for cool climate sailings.
  10. The solarium pools are enclosed and temperature controlled. But yes they eliminated the family enclosed pool on Odyssey. Maybe they will change the adult only policy for the solarium pools when it goes to Bayonne???
  11. One of the reason I don't often sail out of Miami....why not sail out of FLL instead.
  12. Agree...I have done about 5 now since the reopen including the very first sailing of the reopening out of north America . The early sailings were all very good/excelent....ships were sailing at around 50%...some of the early ones at only 30%....these were some of the best sailings I have done...got spoiled....service was excellent....food had some substitutions but was good...staff was thrilled to be back...all seemed good. Where the problem started was when they went to full capacity...around the same time they started the cutbacks....staff shortage for full ships....not happy feel among staff...food decline...rising prices...it is like a perfect storm...
  13. Unfortunately it seems to be the industry standard right now in cruising.
  14. My last 2 and my upcoming Royal sailings were/are comp'd sailings. My one out of pocket Royal sailing that I had booked for June I cancelled. There is no way I would be paying some of the prices Royal is asking for some of these sailings with current quality and cutbacks....I would be looking at alternatives. If I was going to to be paying out of pocket for a cruise right now I would defiantly be looking at Celebrity over Royal.
  15. Had friends who just sailed Celebrity Edge over Christmas and New Years and mentioned a decline in food quality....it's across the board on all cruise lines. Does Celebrity handle it a little better....probably. Odyssey handled it OK in Dec ...mainly probably cause they have a very well designed functional Windjammer unlike Oasis Class but Allure months prior was absolutely terrible....was so turned off that we have sworn off Oasis class ships till things improve.
  16. Had this same exact thing happen to us in Dec in Giovanis on Odyssey....handled it exactly the same way you did with same results you experienced.
  17. Why do Some Cruise Lines Charge the Same Rate for Babies as Adults? Though babies and toddlers clearly do not consume nearly as much food and drink, nor partake in the same activities as their parents, babies still create extra cleanup and housekeeping work that the ship’s crew ultimately must take care of. On top of creating extra work for the crew, babies also do not make the onboard purchases that their parents do, such as specialty dining, drinks, casino chips, etc.
  18. It's not just Royal....this is being reported with all the cruise lines.....cutbacks....poor service ....overworked staff and disappointments with general food quality.
  19. I wouldn't say it feels like a roller coaster. You cant really control your speed but they will depending on conditions direct you whether to go down with your arms and legs spread...they call it starfish or to keep you arms and legs close to your body. I don't remember if you can wear glasses or not but I do believe you need closed toe shoes. Yes, you do cross through the secured gate to get to the top.
  20. Not sure when your sailing is...but we switch back to daylight savings time on March 12th which will make local time in Curacao and Florida the same until we switch clocks again on Nov 5th.
  21. Pre-ordered 12 pack of water on Odyssey in Dec and had plastic bottles waiting in cabin on arrival.
  22. Like I said in my prior post...I am sure they prefer cash....everyone prefers cash.
  23. That's cause if someone cancels or maybe even upgrades and changes to a higher category that cabin they had will become available and show up in inventory. They are probably being grabbed by people like you watching to book a last minute cabin or a TA grabbing it for a client way before a Royal rep goes through their waitlist. I wouldn't ever wait list a cabin if I were looking to book last minute...I would just keep checking myself and if I see something pop up grab it.
  24. The prices on cabanas highly fluctuate depending season and demand. To give an example same ship exact same itinerary for 2 sailings ....My sailing in Dec had a beach cabana at barefoot listed for $250....for March that same beach cabana was listed for $1250 and they are all now showing sold out.
