  2. These are screen caps from November. I am interested to compare again next week to see how much of a difference. Wine by glass is showing some of the higher priced ones, as we had premier package. As posted above, it appears $12 wines are now $14
  3. If you want to walk-off breakfast (and the previous three days worth), take a walk up the hill. Beautiful views and a lovely sea breeze. If what you say is true about cancelling all NZ itineraries, they have a couple of calls they need to cancel prior to this cruise. Has that already happened? She is due to call in Auckland on her way to Sydney from San Fran on 10th October. She also has a NZ cruise departing Sydney on 27th November. One extra one after this cruise on 10th January. I just think they are trying to add variety, otherwise they will just have 3 consecutive rounds of NZ & Tassie.
  4. The Virgin Lady's look a bit more like tugboats. I don't mean that as a sledge, but the prom deck looks wider and more open than the passenger decks stacked above like a turret vs the usual modern day block of flats.
  5. Thanks again Ms J. I don't believe they get a commission, but they do get brownie points and prizes like an extra port day ashore.
  6. Is there a crossed wire? Royal subsidiary Silverseas has recent Nova class ships.
  7. Tonnage? Nova class. For Novocastrians, to be based in Newcastle. 🤣
  8. There is no game to play. Your choice whether you have a photo pre-loaded on the app and all of your details, or whether you want to spend another two or minutes at check-in getting it done. It will be fast either way, but that is mostly due to the other 1000 that have sped the line up by having that stuff pre-loaded into their system.
  9. True, but without a dedicated space on Coral Princess, "casual dining" is likely to be a lunch only experience. No Vines to get the charcuterie board, no gelato to get unlimited gelato (if you really wanted it). Just 2 x pop-ups for lunch on sea days, and all the ice cream and sprinkles you can eat at Swirls.
  10. At lunch on sea days, a casual Alfredo's exists in Sabatini's. For dinner, Sabatini's reverts to being a specialty restaurant. Likewise for Salty Dog at lunch, Bayou for dinner. No way they could successfully co-exist. Perhaps if there is little demand in dinner bookings, they could change-it up on certain nights. On shorter cruises down here, Bayou & Sabatini's are pretty much sold-out before embarkation. The other thing with premier is that there are numbers of passengers with two specialty dinners. IF the pop-up was in a designated area of the buffet, at least it could serve both lunch & dinner - but that isn't currently done.
  11. There is still the unknown of how many of the "available" cabins are being covered by yet to be assigned guarantees.
  12. You don't get the upgrade if they can't get a hold on your funds. Odds are that suite bids are 99.9% unsuccessful anyway.
  13. No. Turns out it is related to Norton anti-tracker. I could switch it off for the site, except CC are loaded with trackers. I am just starting to get used to it.
  14. I am not aware of any changes to the layout of the public areas. I can't think of a ship I would rather do a Panama Canal cruise on than Coral Princess, but her & Island don't fit with this concocted "casual restaurant" idea. The unfortunate part is that you can't have a "casual" dinner as a pop-up in a specialty restaurant. There is also no gelato as a "casual" option like many of the newer ships, so that would be a nice addition if they chose to do something about it. Coral is a bit tired, and a bit overdue for some TLC, which as far as I can tell is mostly engineering and a refresh of existing hotel areas. Grand Princess aside, it isn't normally part of Princess' MO to make major hotel changes during drydock. The other Princess exception is the addition of more cabins - lets hope they aren't turning Coral's deckplan to match Island's.
  15. That's funny. October - what a great time for anniversary cruising. On work days like today, I would prefer to gloss over it, but for some reason Barb never lets me forget Valentines day.
  16. They need to get all available ship crew and terminal staff to form a guard of honour with a row of umbrellas. 😉 On wet or changeable embarkation days, we each have one of those $2 shop disposable ponchos in our carry-on.
  17. Large groups can take-up a staff members time for over an hour just getting the bill split and paid for by the individuals/couples in the group. It isn't everywhere, but it isn't uncommon. Lots of less pretentious places, including our RSL's, sporting & workers club venues. I get an unpretentious but quality steak each month from a local restaurant of a US franchise - TGI Fridays.
  18. Wow. That sounds like one more thing to add to the list of why Cunard & Princess decided to drop Melbourne as a home port.
  19. Yes, will do. Alas though, the ship has a drydock between now & your cruise and anything is possible by then.
  20. My other take on this is it is "user pays" vs "everyone pays".
  21. Cool, it must have been crab shack or something that was in the buffet - not included as a "casual" eatery. Was Salty dog just sea days as well? We will only get one sea day later this month, and it will be tough to pick which one to dine at 😉 All the current plus and premier will be loading-up for that day.
