  1. An update from East Lancshire. We have had two very hot days but thankfully it's cooling down now. The bad news was that on the hottest day on record, the air con at work decided to stop working this afternoon. We did all get a free ice cream though.
  2. There are 4 lifts just forward of the Grand Lobby and forward of that on each deck is a passage that goes the full width of the ship. That is where you will board. Deck and side will depend on the port and tide.
  3. Disembarkation is done by deck starting with grills, coaches and priority, then beginning with deck 13 and working down. The latest you will be off is about 10.30 so depending on your deck, it could be a rush.
  4. I am not looking forward to the next few days. We are forecast to have temperatures in the mid 30s that is unheard of in this part of England. Thankfully, it should be back to normal on Wednesday.
  5. There will be a walk in test centre near the dock in Southampton if all esle fails.
  6. I agree with HH. It sounds like a good way to give QM2 a try. Plenty of port days just in case you don't like the ship.
  7. Sadly you have to book online and get it delivered to your home. If all else fails there is or was in May a test centre near the Mayflower terminal that does walk in tests.
  8. You should be OK with an iPad as it will let you log onto the system and take the necessary pictures.
  9. When you order the test you have to create and account and register your details. Including passport info. To upload the results you will need a smart phone but you get clear instructions. Once you log into the system it talks you through what to do.
  10. You're welcome. Once you take the picture and send it off, you will get an email to say your certificate is ready to download. I think it took a couple of hours which was pretty good as it was a Saturday.
  11. Thanks for adding the link to the other thread HH. I have just ordered a test for my trip in August. £14.99 from Boots. I know other major chemists also sell them for about the same price. As has been said, you are not supposed to eat or drink an hour before the test so I did the test as soon as I got up then had breakfast whilst waiting for the result.
  12. You don't need to have the test administered. You can buy a home test for travel that comes with a certificate. I did mine at 8am the day before I sailed and there were no issues at check in.
  13. As has been said the exchange rate will be poor on board, but if you only want a small amount then you can change your money at the pursers desk.
  14. Some good news for me today, I have got a new job. It's still with the same company, but an advancement on what I'm doing currently.
  15. I'm not sure how pratical this suggestion is, but if you have time, maybe buy some extra clothes in the USA and if necessary a case to bring them home.
  16. Thanks, I have seen it and wondered where it was from.
  17. Not quite on topic but linked. I cam back from QM2 at the end of May. I am on QV at the begining of August. Is it too early to leave things on the clothes rails? Doesn't seem worth putting my shirts away only to get them out again in a few weeks.
  18. Thanks for the update @safarigal I'm glad everyone was ok. Hopefully no-one on board will hace their onward travel arrangements messed up. A good reminder for why you need to allow plenty of time after disembarking just in case.
  19. Hi @RomanRy Most people on Cunard like to dress up so it can be quite formal. However, you don't need a full length ball gown/dress. Knee length should be fine.
  20. Hi @belfblack I was on QM2 in May and the watercolour classes were at 10am. This can change. You will get a Daily Programme in your stateroom each nigth ready for the following day so you can plan ahead.
  21. If you want to visit the glacier from Olden without payin Cunard prices, there is an open top bus as well as mini-buses that set off from the dock side. The ticket office is the first building you come to.
  22. I pack the night befoe setting off but my suits and shirts will be on a clothes rail ready for packing up to two weeks before that. Anything thing that will fit in the case flat will already be in the case.
