  1. The one he printed out is Zaandam in May 2023 (or thereabouts) New England and Canada, departs from Boston and ends in Montreal. Goes up the St. Lawrence River. I’ve wanted do this cruise for ages. Santa didn’t actually book it because it’s my present and he wanted me to take care of all the details since I have more cruises than he does. He did want a suite. The only other thing is since it’s my cruise, he left it open in case I wanted to do another Alaska cruise or if I wanted to change cruise lines. I do admit I’m a little concerned with CCL (we are shareholders) debt load and selling off 3 ships, 2 of which we know are costa and the other one is not named. I’m also worried about spending cuts and service cuts, although I enjoyed Westerdam immensely in September. We are 50s and I worry zaandam is too small for him and he will be miserable, thought he knows I love smaller ships. We are looking to book today including airfare and if we do Alaska again, we might to the one that starts in Anchorage and goes down to Seattle or Vancouver ok. So who has a lot of cruises under their belt and can give me pros and cons (at your leisure as it’s Christmas Day) of these cruises? Which one should I do? So many choices! Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all. I’m going to be looking after lunch when everyone gets sleepy.
  2. @bguppiesthank you. I think I’m going to stick with the plan and stay on the ship.
  3. 😆 o.k. Now that I got that out of the way, I have been planning to stay on the ship. I have had electrical heart issues that are now under control (had to see an EP cardiologist) but I’m debilitated again and with the heart issues and my current physical shape, I think I should probably not snorkel. any ideas for me for this trip? We arrive Jan 4 and there will be 4 ships in port. Thanks. ETA: staying on the ship is a viable option. I’ll probably be back to CM soon.
  4. There will be 4 ships on January 4. Glory, Pride, Celebrity reflection and NCL bliss. My son and I literally got the last cabin on Glory (which thankfully was a balcony but it’s very forward). I haven’t been to costa Maya before and we were thinking of staying on the ship. I’m not in great shape right now and so I’m picking and choosing what to do. (Been to Belize twice so far and Cozumel like 8 or 9 times).
  5. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
  6. I’ve been enjoying your updates and I’m sorry you were robbed!
  7. The whole thing just doesn’t make sense at all because are they trying to say that the relatively few trouble makers across the entire carnival fleet also purchased the bon voyage package?
  8. I voted zero. I’m on vacation and I don’t want to dress up. On “elegant” night I dress exactly the same as other nights. (If people want to dress up, it doesn’t bother me. Im answering the question presented).
  9. My husband and I used to do the bon voyage liquor to the room. I’d have maybe one drink a day as I’m not much of a drinker… maybe 2 drinks one day if I wanted to let loose lol. You know how many drinks per day I’m going to have in January? Exactly zero. Not going to smuggle and not going to fight the crowd for a drink at the bar. I’m going with my son with a group cruise. We aren’t buying cheers. My husband and I wouldn’t buy cheers because its never going to be worth it if I’m in the cabin. DH I guess will find a slower bar and get his drinks from there but he has no cruises planned.
  10. It’s done for, gone, pining for the fjords, tits up, popped it’s clogs. I also just found out.
  11. I know we have paid upwards of 5k and that was either for a balcony and an interior for the family (5 of us) or it probably was for one of the suites for 4 of us for a 7 day out of NOLA.
  12. No cheers, no insurance, no prepaid gratuity etc. just the 8D balcony but we were the last cabin, so booked late
  13. Can you order the steakhouse menu to your cabin? I was able to do that on HAL and I enjoyed it a lot— my solo cruise and I ate on the balcony. My January cruise is with a group I don’t really know and my 25 year old is really going so he can hang out with his friends. We literally got the last cabin available so we are waitlisted for dinner. I figure I’m going to be on my own for dinner and I would love surf and turf to my cabin.
  14. This has always been Dh’s point of view. He despises fighting for a spot at the bar and having to wait to get a drink. We get a suite or a balcony and wait for the pier runners. I think we are aging out of carnival anyway. I thoroughly enjoyed holland America, but they don’t depart from Nola.
  15. I don’t really drink because it makes my restless arms and legs act up, so we ordered it to the room which DH preferred anyway. What was nice on my holland America cruise in September was the mini bar in the room so I could have two cocktails over the course of the cruise. I haven’t been on carnival since the before times, but I’m sure they didn’t add mini bars in the rooms lol.
  16. Thanks well, that is a bummer. It’s never worth it for us to do cheers because I don’t really drink alcohol and my husband preferred to mix his own drinks. This time, I’m going in a group cruise and rooming with my 25 year old son. I’m perfectly happy with water and lemonade and maybe one pina colada each cruise. Alcohol makes my restless arms and legs act up.
  17. I just paid 2k for a 6 night for 2 people out of Nola in January. Is that low. It seemed high to me.
  18. Someone also told me just now that you can’t order liquor through bon voyage to the room any more either? Does anyone know this to be true? ( I’m not cruising with my husband this time so it might not be an issue for me anyway… just wanted to know). Thanks.
  19. Thanks, the cruise stopped showing up on the website earlier today so I think I really did get the last cabin. Crazy!
  20. I think it is sold out because when I tried to advance to see what other cabins were open it said none were available. It doesn’t matter though. I’m happy with the one we have.
  21. This actually would be pretty funny. I will look for a sash online— maybe at Etsy.
